Triads are the simple part. I think most of understand that, but what most instructors don’t explain on these videos is how they link to the extra notes you’re playing. An in-depth video on that mixed with triads would be amazing.

This video is seriously insanely helpful. I’m 17 and am new to jazz guitar and this has helped me stop thinking in scale shapes. It’s so easy to get trapped into the pentatonic/modal scales as a fallback as a rock guitarist, but this is seriously phenomenally helpful for me.

I love it that you don’t show shred stuff that much because rhythm is so much more important. I can shred a guitar to pieces but I definitely needed work on chord melody. I really thank God for you bro.

i feel like "don't rush" is underrated advice. I think sometimes guitar players think if they don't figure something out in 10 mins, it's not worth the time and effort. It's a shame. slowing down is okay.

    Two comments...
    1. On weather and noise I'm experiencing the same thing a couple hundred miles south of you. My guitars strings seem like they are picking up static, which I hear in my tube amp. I check the room humidity, but it seems like the humidity outside matters, too. It's dry down here. I thought something was wrong with my gear.
    2. This lesson is way harder for me. One reason is it's hard to see your fingers. Another is I feel you're jumping around more. Or maybe you're focused more on hearing, and I need to see, know, play, and then hear. I understand the theory, but not the patterns up the neck. Something to work on.
    *
I'm currently exploring Hendrix via Hey, Joe. I'm surprised that he rarely played whole chords. I was playing a A-shape working on thumb over technique. The high E string either wasn't clear or muted. Then I learned Hendrix wasn't playing it either.

Learn intervals instead of any shapes!

    • @mikem668
      @mikem668 2 года назад +1

@@TomoFujitaMusic Wow. Thanks so much, Tomo. Using your triad lessons, I learned the So-Do-Me, Do-Me-So, and Me-So-Do up and across the neck. And I worked out the intervals within scales. But I never even thought about dropping the triad and scale shapes as references and focus on intervals themselves.
Other than octaves, the closest I came was noticing that the tuning is a circle of 4ths. Which means the reverse is 5ths. The relationships are amazing just as mathematics.
Your advice is just what I needed. Thanks for taking the time to give it.
      *
On another channel, a new player with a disability - muscular dystrophy - asked for advice. He was right handed, but needed to play left handed. He got no response. I felt bad for him and was a little reluctant to comment myself. But I knew he needed to hear your Big 4, especially Be Kind To Yourself. Your philosophy and kindness changes lives. We are all grateful.

Awesome thank you Tomo! Power Issue in the room? Guitar or cable funky? So Tomo, it is my understanding that the Cm triad is coming from Cm pentatonic scale? So 2nd inversion would be from position 2 Cm pent. and so on. As well the same for major triads?
Edit. root from 4th position, 1st inversion from 1st Position, 2nd inversion from 2nd position?

    • @TomoFujitaMusic

You're welcome! In this video is all about minor Triad. You can compare with Major triad. Or if you add .... then..... Many positions possible in different keys! Learn intervals & inversions not shapes!
      Root b3 5
      b3 5 Root
      5 Root b3

i'm depressed because of this, in my brain i couldn't able to play calmy my hands looks very stressed.
