I definitely am a huge fan of both bands, but I definitely think it is a Manowar hymn! There is no contest for me that Manowar wins!

Sabaton actually covered this song for a perculiar reason, They did it for a Tie in long ago with the game “Kingdom Come Deliverance” it’s actually a few year old track of Sabaton’s now.

i like more the sabaton version, even though both are amazing.
The manowar album was the first metal album I bought on cd. I still play it in the car sometimes when I'm alone so I can sing along (trust me, I don't want to do this when I have passengers). No one beats the manowar version.
Same for me, first one I bought. I still have the cassette of it, yes cassette. In fact I have several different cassettes of various Manowar albums. Not sure why I never bought CD's. I guess I figure if they still work why buy CD versions?
Sabaton’s version makes me feel like I’m there. A part of history. Their own songs always have a way of doing that… and this one… while a cover… also has that effect as well. Manowar wrote a great song… but Sabaton gave it muscles, attitude, power, and presence.
I also think the Sabaton guitar solo version is way better.

Hello from Spain. First of all I will present my opinion on which version is the best ... This time I think that the two are VERY close in terms of quality ... I ALMOST like them both with the same intensity !!! But I have to admit that I like the MANOWAR original a little more than the SABATON one.
I have loved the anecdote of the cassette ... it is something that the generation that lived in the first person of the 80s passed us (or could happen to us) at one time or another.
My experience with MANOWAR in the '80s started after 12 at night while he was randomly listening to music on the radio. In this I found a station that was playing heavy music: they played several songs followed by different groups. Every song I heard I liked a lot and that's why I stopped looking for other stations and for a couple of hours (or more) I was listening to music there.
I did not know the MANOWAR group but when they put some of their songs it seemed to me ... the most INCREDIBLE thing I had heard, so I put a blank cassette in the player and started recording the songs of this group since, I did not know why they were the ones I liked the MOST.
The next day (or a few days later, I don't remember) my desire to know more about the group was very strong, so I went to a music store and bought my first MANOWAR CDs. Since then I have been a fanboy of them and I never get tired of listening to their songs.

i am a little biased towards sabaton but you can’t beat the original. sabaton brought different elements to the song that manowar didn’t. both versions are exceptional in their own respect
Definitely Manowar wins: Sabaton have simply created the metal song instead of the battle hymn by Manowar. Battle hymns are specific direction of Manowar creativity.
And actually I had heard this song the very first time on audio cassette too.

No doubt Manowar wins, their version really lift my spirit EVERY time i hear it.
Personally I prefer Sabaton. As to the "low hanging fruit" cover I believe this was covered specifically for the game Kingdom Come Deliverance (i suggest looking at the Kingdom Come Deliverance A Blacksmiths Tail EU trailer.

Manowar is more better. I dont like Sabaton due to their monotony and Broden s vocal. However I admit Sabaton is much popular now.
I really like both versions, they feel very different but both are very nice to listen too.
I like Sabaton though I like aspects of both while not liking other, aspects of both. The manowar version is a bit lack lustre in the vocals until those fantastic screams come in and save the day. Sabaton better general vocals for me, powerful if lacking the great, screams. The one thing I really dislike about the Sabaton version is the tone of the guitar in the, solo. Reminds me of Meatloaf gimme the future with a modern girl, I always hated the tone of the guitar and this is exactly the same.

Personally I don't care who's doing this song. It's a boring song that never takes off. I'm a little disappointed with Sabaton though for not using a choir, as they usually do and so well. Sounded like Sabaton didn't put their heart into this.

My vote definitely goes to Sabaton. Much more deep, calm, but nonetheless strong and confiant...
Joachim's voice just fits better in my opinion to the theme of the song.
And the guitar and battery play brings it to another level I think... I love how we hear it better, how the rhythm is more regular. When I hear Sabaton's cover I feel like a KoenigsTiger slowly advancing in Kursk's battlefield, but I don't really feel like that with the Manowar version.
But maybe I'm too much of a Sabaton fan to be objective. To be honest I never got into Manowar (too old, maybe), and I don't really like screaming in music unless it's Chester Bennington. War needs deep voices, screaming is for fragile (just kidding here 😂).
Anyways I think both covers are awesome, I'll just keep listening Sabaton, and sometimes I'll listen to Manowar...
