    I love the "fluidness" of the front screen. The whole front panel reminds me of an old older car cd player lol. I have an ax fx but wouldn't mind checkin out out one of these, just for the hell of it.

    I don't know... i've had a tc g-force for years and never had any problems.. as a matter of fact i love that thing. can't seem to part with it. I recently bought a cheaper g sharp for just a little delay and verb for my second amp. it's not as crisp as the force but it sure beats the hell out of a lot of modeling units out there.. i won't mention any names....saw this thing in action at namm. i definitely want to get one of these though for sure...

    @Pelko77 Don't know if you still want to know, but you can use any kind of expression pedal. Via MIDI (such as a behringer fcb1010 or coupled with a GCP) or directly into the pedal in (with a stereo jack cable)

  • @pedaltoneshop

    @guitargeek57 yes the unit was through the loop, to use the pitch and compression effects you need to make sure you amp has a serial fx loop. It usually tells you in the manual.
    For example the marshall TSL122 has a parallel loop but it becomes a serial loop when the fx control is turned up to 10.
    Cheers

    @SxTHUNDERxG There is a triple footswitch available for the G-sharp however it doesn't control the Gmajor 2 in the same way.
    You could use a two button footswitch and plug it into the footswitch jack input, it is then possible to assign two a function to each button such as patch up and down patches / tap tempo / bypass etc.

    You can get the most from the G Major 2 in a series loop. Delays and Reverb will sound great either parallel or series. If you run in a parallel loop use the kill dry function.

    @TimmOfficial as far as i can see from the specs the Roland Cube 30x does not have an effects loop, if you placed the Gmaj2 in front of the amp you may experience problems with low gain.
    Check out the Nova System, it is designed for the front end of the amp, sounds great and is easy to setup and use.

  • @fixxxer602
    @fixxxer602 14 лет назад

    @davem04ify you can sure do that.. Get your self a midi control foot board pedal.. run your mesa foot switch cable into the TC electronics (amp control) switch.. and then start tweaking like crazy.. will take some knowledge of how to send midi signals.. but once you get it set up it will be heaven.. one stomp and you will have amp switching along with the effects and all that good stuff..

  • @moviescolin
    @moviescolin 12 лет назад +1

    There is no distortion on the unit, purely an effects unit. Although it has a "relay" jack that you can use with a footswitch jack on your amp for channel switching via MIDI. Pretty cool stuff. I don't own one, just studied the manual like crazy.

  • @pedaltoneshop
    @pedaltoneshop  15 лет назад

    the unit works best in the effects loop of the amp. you may experience low gain using it this way. have a look at the nova system.
    the nova system is designed for the front end of the amp sounds great and is easy to setup and use.

    If the digital efectis made properly and that circuit is made properly and from quality materials it should sound amazing. Some 80s digital effects stil soun beter than these moden digital crap. Hello everyone,
    sorry i haven't replied to all of your comments straight away they didn't show in my inbox.
    We plugged the unit into a series effects loop, all the sounds are designed to work best in this type of loop especially the wahs and pitch shifting effects.
    It can be used in a parallel loop with the kill dry function, however it is not designed to work in front of the amp (this doesn't mean it wont work its just not designed for front end effects)
    hope that helps,
    PedalTone

      +michael mclaughlin does G-Major 2 have some strange sounds, synths or so? I know there are several on AXE FX. I mean not just 10 delays or whammy`s whistles but smth... I think you understand)

    • @yngvai777
      @yngvai777 9 лет назад

      One thing to consider using this setup; I found from my own experience that the G-Major doesn't switch patches as quickly as the Kemper does, so if you're playing while switching, the patches bleed into each other. It's kind of a pain, i ended up getting huge volume spikes when switching from heavy to clean tones. this can be avoided by not playing while switching. just something to consider

  • @picturebox01

    I haven't actually tried a GM2 but I own a first generation version. Looking at the specs and seeing the clips there isn't that much that has changed, a few bells and whistles but the overall character of the sounds is pretty similar. I would say the quality of the unit is pretty good. Minimal tone loss and the relay switching is really handy. I found the downside is that the FX themselves are a bit sterile and there is much to inspire creativity. It's not the most intuitive UI either but it does have some useful feature like the learn function which helps make midi set with controllers much more simple. Compared with modern pedals the FX are quite boring and lack character. In comparison to say using a unit like a line 6 unit it affects your tone less but the FX are much less fun.I added an another vintage analogue chorus unit as the on board chorus is useless. The always on tuner is also good. I am now down sizing and looking to replace it with some decent reverb and delay pedals to stick on my board, though I will also now need another volume pedal and tuner as I was controlling this with my old line 6 XT live (for midi control only).

    you need to put it in the series loop to get it to sound right, otherwise you're mixing half of the signal from the amp and half from the FX. thats fine for reverbs but terrible for modulation effects like tremolo and phasing/flanging/chorus. you can change the direct sound to effect sound ratio in the unit itself to get desired sounds. or if you do run it through the parallel it should be set too 100% wet, but it still may not sound quite right with all presets

      +Dawn_of_the_dead Gmajor2 2 has been designed to run in FX loop only ("pro" impedance mode, not instrument level), it simply cannot be run before pre-amp.
      IMHO it works better with serial FX loops.
      Also effects that are typically used before pre-amp (Compressor and Wah) works quite well (wah is quite... weird :) )

      Put a booster in front of the G-Major 2, and it will run in front of the amp without any problem. I use mine with a Boss FA-1 clone, or with my Boss ME-5, which I use as Midi Controller for the GM2 as well. It's a perfect setup: ME-5 delivers analob compression, overdrive, eq and sometimes chorus/flanger, GM2 delivers delay, modulation, pitch shifting and reverb.

      IF you are just plugging straight in post floor pedals just hook up another amp with another mono guitar cable...check phase of amps with fx bypassed...use a hum buster and a ground lift to solve your potential ground hum issues. Pedals can reverse phase when turned on.If your amps are out of phase just insert a pedal on one side and leave it on all the time...like an eq pedal or boost pedal....good luck
