Vienna has a very famous New Years Day music concert every year with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the Musikverein. I wonder if they let an audience into the concert this year, or whether the VPO played without an audience. Although it is expensive to buy tickets for music events, and they are sometimes difficult to get, I remember that we mostly went in standing room (10 schilings in 1971 was about $1, I think). I just read that the concert was being broadcast. The “candle memorials” that are in your video near the end are a touching reminder by the Viennese of the terrorist shootings not long ago. Thank you for these videos.

Hello Norman! Greetings to enchanting Honduras! Nice that you found Vienna from so far :) In Austria we are currently in Lockdown # 3, which will be relaxed a little from February 7th. The following rules then apply to us: - Exit restrictions remain in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. - The mask requirement is expanded. Where an MNS mask was previously required, an FFP2 mask must be worn in the future. - A meeting of a maximum of two households is possible. - Schools: there are face-to-face lessons for elementary schools as well as shift work for lower and upper grades including mandatory tests Without a test, only distance learning will be possible. - The trade opens under conditions such as the mandatory FFP2 mask and 20 square meters of space per customer. - Museums and zoos also open under certain conditions. - Service providers close to the body (e.g. hairdressers) may open in connection with entry tests. These must not be older than 48 hours. - Entry controls are tightened, there are mandatory tests. - Harsher penalties for mask refusers. Best regards from Vienna! :)
@@anbax hello. I would like to go back again maybe en 2022. Its a wonderful city. I spent there for 3 weeks. Vacations.greetings.Thank for the information.
Oh man, you missed so much...turn around when you come out of The Hofburg and see the entrance from where you just came from and then, very important, you didn't look at the Roman ruins, you walked right by them. You did stop though by "Wiener Kaiserschmarrn", very good, it's iconic. You walked straight by the "Pestsaeule" am Graben without even so much of giving it a nod. Extra points for doing the video in landscape, too many make videos in portrait. For the Pestsaeule you needed to turn your phone vertical for a moment to get the whole Saeule in. Same for St. Stepen's Cathedral. Shops are cool, but what's important is the old architecture...above the shops. Nice touch when you walked by the candles, background conversation in Viennese dialect. It's a good start, if you do more walk troughs, maybe of different European cities, you've got to focus more on the old architecture!
Hello, thank you for your feedback. I've already shown the things you missed in this video in others. That's why I went through quite quickly this time. I try to focus differently every time.
@@anbax Well, it's time for me to eat crow (a Canadian expression for "I apologize"). First of all, I just found your channel and did not see most of your videos yet. And secondly, when I watched your First Snow video, I got the point of your vids. You are not necessarily a tourist guide to show off Vienna; you are a Walker who films his trips. And for that I am extremely grateful to you. I grew up in Vienna and live now in Canada. I used to walk endless hours in Vienna, just like you. As a youngster, when I skipped school, too often, all I did was walking through the streets. Later, I lived in the 14., walked on the weekend to the 9. to go dancing all night, then walked the girl home to the 10. or 19., wherever she lived, then walk home from there. Usually got home at 3 to 5 or 6AM. Left for Canada in my very early 20s, been here now for about 55 years, been back many times, the last time (and probably for the last time) about 10 years ago. So, you bring back Vienna to me the same way I experienced it and this really, really warms my heart. Thank you!
