- We are preparing our greenhouse for our biggest growing season yet! We plan to grow all our produce for a year's worth of food for our family of four and extras for our animals! We will start our seeds in the greenhouse and then transfer them into a plot-style garden. Next year we will build raised beds to add to the garden space.
When you go and pick up your bees , sometimes they will give you one extra… just consider it a free bee 😂😂😂

Make sure you put a 3 strand electric fence around your bee hives. My first year was a disaster! A bear came and destroyed all my frames and ate most of the bees. It had no honey since I just put my bees in the hive a week earlier. 😔
Do you have room for the old vanity to use it as a wash station? Put a bucket under the drain to collect wash water to water plants
"We chose a color for every room " made me laugh with your giggle. Good for you! I bought a house that was depressing taupe. Before moving in, I had the whole house repainted in Ivory, but usually it looks like buttercream instead of the pale beige I thought it was. It is a happy color and calm backdrop to the busy look of my furniture. I admire your energy. Poor health destroyed mine, so I enjoy watching all you are able to do until I am able to do more.
My house when i bought it 14 years ago was painted pale grey with darker grey trim. Yuck! Not a nice grey but a very depressing one to my mind. I painted the whole house an off white sort of colour which throws a different colour in every room, on every wall at all times of the day. I have a pine timber floor which is orange tones, light and dark. I'm in Queensland.

save the egg shells Put them in the boxes and raise your seed in a little dirt in each shell The shell break down in the ground and egg shells add nutrients to your seed Just an idea because you already have what you need right there 💗 Loving the green house Awesome
We painted every room in sage green with off white trim ceiling and doors. Sage Green is the easiest colour to live with. Goes with everything

Line the boxes with garbage liner so it won’t leak in the cracks! Love it

When I grew up, my dad built the home that we lived in. Everything was stucco sheet rock and wood paneling the colors for the kitchen was, I won’t say what my dad called it, but it was pink the bedrooms were all wood paneling. The bathroom was MDF board withwhite marble on the top White marble on the top they had green carpet, kind of a brown linoleum So I guess you could say that it all worked together when I got a home of my own. It was whatever the trailer house company put in but in 97 I painted my house I striped the bedroom walls and they were a cream and a coffee with cream. and it’s still that color today because I love it. My bathroom was a juniper berry blue green, the same as my carpet today. It is a Coco color two different colors and the small bathroom. I’ve done the same way my living room on the other hand started out a mauve color with a burgundy trim then I painted it a yellow color with a butter colored trim that was seven years later seven years after that I seen something on TV where they painted the walls blue with white trim and it’s been that way since 2014 I absolutely love the color I painted the kitchen white because I wanted everything white in there and then I decided to paint it the Coco color and the island has where you can put your cookbooks and I painted that powder blue which is the color of the living room and the shelving in the living room, I painted the Cocoa color that’s in the kitchen I painted my cabinets white curtains are buffalo plaid brown. I have no desire to paint it any other color but it’s been 10 years since I painted. II do have lots of different colored accent colors.
I do love the color of green and I think that your house will be very beautiful. Once you get it to that perfect color of green I enjoy watching your videos, taking care of the animals my husband and I used to have pigs and then we had cows, but there hasn’t been anything out here since then, and he’s been gone for 27 years🤟🤗💚

Couldn't you just poly the top of the table? I think you guys should definitely get a power washer! It would clean the greenhouse windows and I know you said previously that you get a lot of algae on the house due to the weather. They are very affordable and so satisfying to use!! I think it would come in handy for so many things on your homestead!!!!❤
Just never use a power washer on your windows. Breaks the seal and makes them cloudy. From experience.
Don’t forget to make a compost area by the Green House.

Love the timber seed starting boxes. I'd put some sort of legs under them so damp wood isn't sitting on wood. There'd be some air flow between.

Painted my cupboards green, too. Darker green on the bottom, lighter on top. Green is my happy colour and have it all over my home. I did see that you had your old vanity outside your greenhouse in one of your clips and thought, painted green, it would make an awesome potting station. Just a thought. Maybe you can even put hanging pots that hang from the rafters in the green house too! That'd be really cute and add more growing areas.
Green is the best color for everything. I love, love love it. More in decor. Not really on my wall. But we did paint the mud porch a very light green.

I'm curious if any of us are actually a "blue" person or a "green" person or if our brains kind slowly transition to the colours that are more popular at the time. For example with the green, for the last 4 years or so sage and olive greens have been probably the most popular colour used in home decor, so now my brain thinks "I gotta paint my kitchen green!!" when a few years ago, I would've painted my cabinets white and blue because I'd seen that everywhere and it looked so good! I bet you anything, 5 years from now we'll all want to paint our homes red and burgundy! hahaha

I’m making raised gardens using old tires!!!! I’ve done the research and the tires won’t leak chemicals into the soil unless you burn them. And they’re free!
Clear coat on top of shelves ..so for easy clean up and table
I know exactly what you are saying about growing up thinking you were a "blue person" ... for me growing up I always thought blue or purple were my colours, until I met my husband and he introduced me to greens and oranges. So now, I gravitate to natural greens (sage, olive, etc) and he gravitates to oranges and browns ... So all natural colours happen in our home, and they all compliment each other. I love the colour of your bathroom and (now) table. I will definitely be looking into oilcloth for a future project we have coming up!
Elysia you should contact Vego garden beds and ask them if they would send you a couple for your garden. They would match the table you just painted.
@Elysia English you might want to drill holes in the bottom of your boxes for drainage. Or use some kind of screening on the bottom. The greenhouse looks very nice!! Cute idea with the table.

I saved old drawers from my kitchen reno to use for planters. I started my flower seeds in these.
In case you did not know plexiglass is expensive. I love, love, love sage green.
You can go to the big box stores and pick up some of the used pots that people bring back. I also save all of mine and have friends save theirs. You will need to up pot from the soil blocks.

You will put plastic under the boxes as when you water the plants, the water will go through the cracks and on your painted shelves…. 😮

Really curious to see how these starter seed trays work out! I've only ever seen my family use the plastic ones (reusing them for many years of course) but it's a great idea to use a more environmentally friendly idea!!

I also used to be a blue person. Since I painted our living room with Livable Green by Sherwin Williams, I am in love. I will never get tired of it! Most relaxing color ever,.. and changes its hew with every change of the lighting. LOVE your bathroom color. ❤

Maybe put some hooks underneath the upper shelves, to hang any gardening stuff including the watering can. Also, set up a wooden trellis in boxes, at the end of the shelving units, like a wood frame with any leftover chicken wire for the flowering vine plants or for string beans to grow upward?
The table is fine to cut…if it was antique…im sure you would have had to pay more than you did to get …all old things aren’t antiques..they are just old.. i doubt that table is over 100 years old…nice idea to make it work for your greenhouse.
That table definitely isn't 100 yrs plus old....so not an antique.

I always use thin cardboard or heavy paper for seeds. When its time to plant I just break the cardboard up and stick the plant pot and all into the dirt. Its very easy and within a month or so the cardboard is almost completely composted.
I named my daughter Saige 😂❤🎉 its the perfect color. Russian Olive is so good too❤❤❤❤

Yes we too are green people. My lounge suite is green and curtains are too. My dinning room was too but changed it to maroon. Love how the table looks. So different.

For a reuse on your old bathroom vanity, why not cut the sink out and use it as a potting bench.

I can so relate to the struggle of choosing paint. I'M a green person!
I went to a rock show where several vendors had one called "Fordite." My smart sister told me it's made from many, many, many layers of paint slag when they'd paint vehicles on the assembly line. This method or process has been discontinued so Fordite is more rare than prescious stones.
There are plans online for a raised garden that uses buckets ... just a few 2x4s ... you can do carrots, potatoes, a lot of veggies!
