As we see on Dalamadur's weapons, they have a mediocre paralysis value and it's a droment element if I remember correctly (back in 4U some weapons had dorment elements and status which you need a certain skill to activate them) which leads me to think that paralysis is mostly used by the newborn Dalamadurs as a mean to defend themselves and hunt against much larger prey, which means that these newborn Dalamadurs are much smaller than we think, or it could be a gender specific trait, since most species of snakes tend to have a female much larger then the male, so it could be the male's way of combating this massive size difference, but again I have no proof of it, it's just what I think.

The fact this game has impacted us and we’ve shared experiences, truly my hat is off to Capcom. Dalamdur has always been one of my favorite fights, and seeing it again made me relive those days. I considered third and second fleets as old schools as well. In those days If you wanted more content you needed to buy the older games or wait long. So I had a year when I finished freedom, freedom unite and TRI in one fell swoop. And despite it being a good thing to have more players, i feel that most people just want a world 2, not a "Monster Hunter" I for one, just want remasters for steam, so I can play the older games with better resolution

There are three biomes I think would be incredible to explore: the deep sea (we're talking a true abyss with giant and glowing monsters), deep underground (imagine exploring an entire zone made up of twisting caves and antechambers deep below the surface, filled with weird burrowing monsters), and an aerial biome above the clouds filled with creatures like Narwa and Ibuchi (like a sea in the skies, three dimensional combat and weird floating and flying creatures. Maybe some sort of floating lands, like clouds infused with something that makes them solid enough to stand on but light enough to still float in the air). All of these have the potential to be incredible, similar to the alien beauty of the coral highlands and rotten veil.

I like to beleive that Dalamadur most likely eats deep sea and cavern dwelling creatures, such as Gobuls (as all the Gobuls we fight are juvenile), Ceadeus, Nakarkos, Gaismagorm, Kulve Taroths and the like since snakes are quite adept at swimming and it's durable body would be quite fine under the deep sea pressure, and it's serpentine body-plan is quite at home slithering through small spaces, but this is all simple speculation based on real world biology so it may not be correct, and if you don't think so, say why not, afterall science is a community effort.

God I want to face one in the new faster action style from World and Rise. Could you imagine how badass it would be? Just _seeing_ one in the new engines would be awe inspiring to say nothing of actually fighting it.
Hell if you read their weapons the combined description is essentially a poem describing how Shah created the world:
With the first daybreak, Shah Dalamadur defined the earth by drawing the horizon.
As sunshine came a second time, Shah Dalamadur created the fields with its feathery rays.
Third came twilight, and Shah Dalamadur parted the golden waves and created land.
With the fourth celestial glow, Shah Dalamadur bared his fangs and called it the wind.
At the fifth evening glow, Shah Dalamadur created time and its coils of memory.
With the sixth fall of darkness, Shah Dalamadur wrote joyous songs to heal our hearts.
With the seventh deep night, Shah Dalamadur hewed mountains out of the darkness.
With the eighth full moon, Shah Dalamadur created pillars upon which the earth would shake.
Ninth came sunset, and Shah Dalamadur created heaven to catch the earth below.
With the tenth heat haze, Shah Dalamadur invented fantasy, to help us find reason.
With the eleventh night mist, Shah Dalamadur created the crucible of life.
With the twelfth midnight, Shah Dalamadur created a river of stars for the earth to admire.
With the thirteenth shooting stars, Shah Dalamadur gouged out caverns with his tail.
With the fourteenth sunrise, Shah Dalamadur created the light that begins everything.
They're essentially set up to be the the Divine of Creation to Fatalis being a Divine of Destruction. Either way when you get a world creation myth dedicated to you there is some serious respect coming your way. For all it's terrible power Dalamadur's obviously not feared the same way Fatalis is. Instead it's a being that inspires awe, even worship, which does hint that while they defend their homes fiercely they don't go looking for trouble the way other powerful elders do. They're even credited in that poem with things like giving the world songs, memory, fantasy, and light itself apparently out of altruism. Even if it's a just an in universe myth you don't credit things like that to a destructive monstrosity.

It would make sense that these are rare. Especially with them being the largest known monster to date in the series (Going by the skeleton in the rotten vale). These things probably do the same thing as Laviente. They hibernate to quell their hunger. God I hope we get to fight a fully grown and mature Dalmadur. That would be an absolute apocalyptic event.

I think there is a level of deep sea gigantism at play when it comes to this creature’s life cycle because it’s very difficult for any creature to grow to that size by living on land alone. So it can be imagined that dalamadur feeds on sea monsters and goes into hibernation like state to slow down its metabolism so it doesn’t need to eat much despite its size.

my theory on why we don't find the shed skin of dalamadur is because of the fact it can exude heat from its vents it probably dries the skin out causing it to flake away or it just burns to ash. Its shown when you fight Shah Dalamadur he is super heated. whe he bites he leaves the ground where his head laid super heated and melting

  • @JanusHoW

Ironically, Shah Dalamadur actually has HARDER scales than normal Dalamadur in spite of having just shed. It had such a great defense value (10 for cut & shot and 17 for impact according to Kiranico) that even purple sharpness attacks are repelled if not backed by Mind's Eye; the only soft spots (initially) are its tail, tail tip and back legs. Thankfully, it's quite weak to Dragon, so you can use elemental damage to help break those spots.

Giant Monsters are so cool to look at. To bad Capcom hasn't really figured out how to make these fights interesting. They are really cool spectacles the first time you fight them but they get old somewhat quickly. But with Monster Hunter Combat being somewhat influenced by reality its really difficult to make these giant fights more "fun".
Things like the Kaiju Robot in Nier Automata or Metal Gear EXCELSUS in Metal Gear Rising are a lot of fun. But the playable Characters in those don't obey the laws of physics.^^

My favorite thing about dalamadur and other big monsters is that it gives an insinuation of a mega scale ecosystem where creatures like gogmazios, Zorah, and dalamadur all of a place hunting eachother with creatures like laviente linking it to the regular macro ecosystem. Just like how some animals connect the micro ecosystem of amoeba and stuff by being filter feeders.
Extra idea is based on what Josh mentioned in the video because imagine in a game based in an underground area where there are moves based on if your on the walls ground or ceiling, and then imagine fighting and climbing with the greatest of the wyvern serpent kings.

Regarding Dalamadur’s shed skins, I would assume that they just… eat the skin. It might also help a little bit with their nutrient intake, as, well, there’s a lot of flippin’ skin that these guys have, and skin that probably has residual nutrients just from having once been a part of it.
Bottom line: Dalamadur probably just eats its shed skins.

    • @drac0r3x91
      @drac0r3x91 Год назад +3

I think it's more likely that Dalamadur doesn't leave behind full shed skins. Normal snakes don't have too much trouble sliding out of their old skin because their scales are incredibly smooth. Meanwhile, Dalamadur is covered in hundreds of spikes. During shedding, the old skin would constantly get caught on the spikes and end up torn to shreds.

I believe that Dalamadur have so many abilities to be able to fight back against their possible predator, Zorah Magdaros. Excluding the sedge in game Zorah is very powerful, Zorah is the perfect counter to Dalamadur having a hard shell, fire resistance, powerful limbs, and a strong beak to chomp down on a Dalamadur. The Zorah Magdaros skull in the Guiding Lands is also several times bigger that the one we fight. The Guiding Lands it self is a long dead gigantic Zorah Magdaros ancestor. I compared the heads of the normal monsters and then compared the skulls they are around the same.

You kinda over looked a potential food source when asking "what creature is big enough to need a paralytic bite?". We have a walking mountain in World that actually fits this quota, Zora Magdaros. To big for a current sized Dala to consume in one gulp. Dala is able to carve mountains just by moving, Zora is pretty much a mountain until you carve away at his hard shell like exterior. Just like the ancient Dala in Rotten Vail, Zora too could also have an ancestor that was once a food source for ancient Dala. Their might be some other qualifying creatures of fair size such as Ukanlos and Akantor. (Rat to a snake with size comparison) But with walking landscapes like Zora, he's definitely a great potential. It like a turtle to a snake but the snake can deshell the turtle.

I think there are very few Dalamadur, huge animals don't reproduce a lot, also they likely reproduce via parthenogenesis like some reptiles still do. Dalamadur most likely consume energy like Safi Jiiva

This gave me an idea. Imagine if we did have an expansive MH tv series. Imagine now that we are following this caravan travelling from A to B. Before starting their journey, they would get some information at a local guild outpost about possible routes, and there they learn that entrance into a mountain range right between their current location and their end goal is strictly prohibited in a wide radius including aerial travel. They try to inquire why that is but receive no answer except that it's "classified information". But on their way out they overhear that this prohibition might be due to the existence of an endangered species living in that mountain range.
So they think to themselves "Fine, we don't plan on hunting anything anyway, we'll just sneak our way through this mountain range for a massive shortcut and save weeks of time". And so they do. And so they learn the hard way that the prohibition on entering the mountain range was not to protect the endangered species, but to protect the foolhardy idiots who would venture into its territory in search of mythical treasure or incredibly sought after shed scales of the endangered species also referred to as "Dalamadur".

I remember helping my older brother beat his first Dalamadur. He had reached the High Rank Urgent, but I was decked out in G-Rank Molten Tigrex armor with Crimson Fatalis Dual Blades. I decorated the armor to get rid of Slow Sharpen, add Attack Up XL, Mind's Eye, and Handicraft. I took a good swig of whiskey before the hunt, and we trounced him in about 10 minutes. Good times, good times.

What if dalamadur actually shed in the elder's recess? And all the dead one's littering the rotten vale were eaten from the inside by a nergigante that was swallowed by a shedding dalamadur which was able to be killed from the inside by something so much smaller because it was "weakened" from the effort of being mid-shed. Or at least some of them, because all would be too many for a surviving population in my theory of where they go to shed.

I figure when you are as big as Dalamadur coiling and crushing a creature is just too much effort and expenditure of energy so paralyzing fangs makes it easier for it to strike and then swallow elder dragons like mohrans or even possibly a lao-shan lung.

I don't really get the whole underground shedding theory you went on... like, we literally see it shedding in shah's intro cutscene. they just don't shed like snakes, their previous shed simply flakes off

Allow me to paint you a picture. An anaconda constricting itself around an alligator, suffocating it to death as its body is crushed by the power of the snake’s muscles.
Now replace the snake with dalamadur and the alligator with a lao shan long.

My only issue is the size started getting silly like fatalis is meant to be a demon in mh lore but this thing dwarfs everything to a point its a bit silly if they scaled 😅 him down a little i would have no issue with him returning loa shan, jhen moran ect all felt colossal without being too over the top
