    Hello! Finally somebody who have spunding valve setup, which I may use. Can you please describe parts you've used to assembly spunding valve as on video?

    Great video. Thanks. Question about the way you connect things to dump port. You connect sightglass first, then ninety, then dump valve. I connected dump valve first, then sight glass then ninety. my reasoning - you waste less good wort/beer this way, you shut valve as soon as you see clean wort in sight glass below valve. do you think this is good solution - or you would suggest yours. i'm using my F80 for the first time and would really want to hear your opinion :)

    Hi, could you let me know the full height with legs extended and the hopdrop kit on top? Thanks!

    Nice setup. Do you find problems with yeast on your carb stone? I was thinking about carbing through the racking port and using the sight glass there (with a 2” to 34mm fitting). That way i could clear out the yeast and not put in the carb stone until i need it. Also, what is the advantage of the spunding valve where you have it instead of on top? Just curious. Thanks. Like your vids.

      I haven’t had any issues yet and carbing through the racking arm is definitely a good option. I like the way the spunding valve looks there and the main reason its located there is to keep it away from the krausen. Its definitely a matter of preference though and unless you are filling your fermenter to the max it’s probably ok to just sit on top.

    The Dream Setup =) I'm quite seriously considering getting something similar going myself this season if I can find the gear from local brew stores. Question: It seems you have two thermal wells installed? What is the thinking here? Is it to average out readings / errors between differents measuring devices?

    • @OlleMattsson
      @OlleMattsson 2 года назад

      Oh, I might have figured it out now: One for the heater and one for the chiller?

    • @MasteringHomebrew
      @MasteringHomebrew  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! Well yes and no. Originally i had ordered the wrong thermowell (short one) and realized my mistake and grabed the long one. I do like having multiple temperature probes just in case though. For a little while i was using one for heating and one for cooling but not anymore. Now one has a digital thermometer in it and the other the inkbird. Its nice to have a back up just in case things get weird.

    I read in one of your answers that you only use the heating element for Kveik yeast. Is the power of 500 watts too high for fermentation temperatures around 20 C?

    • @MasteringHomebrew
      @MasteringHomebrew  2 года назад

      I haven’t had any issues with it being too powerful. It doesn’t get too warm if being used at room temps. The hysteresis should be set accordingly for the fermenter size / ambient room temps

      I have a Brewtools F40 and the BT heater controlled by an Inkbird. I do a few tests with water first.

    Hi. I am expecting delivery of a F100 tank next week. I am trying to figure out all the accessories I will need. I see you have a quick connector installed on your glycol chiller. We have the 3/8HP version but I think it has the same connections...just more of them. Can I ask which part you used to change out for the SS Brewtech double barb connector? Was it Product #:7712774? Quick connector, F to 10mm barb (panel)? I want to make it easier for us to disconnect the hoses if required for any reason.

    • @MasteringHomebrew
      @MasteringHomebrew  3 года назад +1

      Yep thats the correct part for the chillers panel. The SS Brewtech barbs need the nut removed and then with a flat head screwdriver or perhaps a butter knife you need to carefully pry the barbs from the panel since they are glued in without ripping too much of the surrounding foam. Its relatively simple.

    Second that, why do you keep the spunding valve there?
    How do you clean the carbston? Boil it? And also your temperature probe sits on the right side. The one I got only fits to the front.

    • @MasteringHomebrew
      @MasteringHomebrew  3 года назад +1

      Hmmm not sure about your temp probe dilemma. I have one of each length installed. First i let the carb stone soak in PBW when i CIP the tank then ill boil it and either install it back on the tank of store it in an open clean can to dry out.
      I keep the spunding valve there because I think it looks nice and it keeps it away from the yeast so there’s no potential for it to be clogged during an active ferment

      The thermowells come in either 1.5" or 34mm. You need the 1.5" to go on the side.

    Are you using the heating element with the inkbird?

    • @MasteringHomebrew
      @MasteringHomebrew  3 года назад +2

      Yes. Im hoping to switch the glycol pump to the inkbird as well eventually. I just need to buy a new pump with a plug. Im kinda holding out for a Brewtools controller. This set up works for now though and doesn’t involve more spending of money. I always get weird stuff in my Christmas stockings 🤞🏽 so theres hope for better consolidation in the future. I kinda like all the different temp probes to be honest. Im only using the element for kveik ferments too.
