Welcome to this First Class Full Flight video onboard the the silver bullet of the skit, the American Super 80! I might not have had the longest time in DFW and wanted to stay there forever, but it was time to continue with my journey back to Atlanta. The first officer was very nice to show me the cockpit and blare the stall warning device and a couple other things before departure. You can see he told the ground to keep the GPU in for another 10 min but took it out right after he said that haha! I love how the power switches off and on as well. He climbed on over to the captain window to open it up and was slamming on the outside of the cockpit having to yell over the noise to put the GPU back in! The aircraft was in great condition but did have some maintenance done back at ORD. I love the sound the forward cabin makes on the MD80 you can hear its a high pitched noise in the video. The seat itself I thought was still in good condition. It was very large with great leg space. The tray table is very flexible to move around and adjust for which ever position is better set if you want to push it out or pull closer. The flight crew was very nice and had a great attitude. They called you by your last name and made sure you were enjoying the flight. 10/10 if I could rate the service. As you could here we were delayed due to weather in between DFW and ORD so I ended up just rushing off the gate to see my S80 for ATL push back. I have been on over a 100 MD80's in my life and this so happens to be the first time I've been in First Class on them. I can say it is amazing. Best Domestic First Class out there in my opinion. Long live the mighty Maddogs!
I hope that you enjoyed the video! I can't believe I have reached over 435 subscribers in just one year of this channel being started. Thank you everyone for the support and all the love.

I knew that I wanted to be a pilot since I was 8 years old. 57 years later, I retired with 34 years of flying experience. It was a great career and I wouldn't wanted to have done anything else.
Dog not allowed ect
i love chatting with the pilots before and after the flight. i would come on board with "hi guys" and they would stop to respond. after the flight i would tell them that i just love talking with them about my flight experience....great people!!
Dog not allowed ect
Just like a kid in the cockpit! I know I would have had so much fun. Great service, and professionalism from American Airlines.
Heather stubbs My inner kid leaps out of me when I'm in my favorite thing from my childhood😂 Thanks for watching!
Long live the 80's!!! Great vid my friend! Loved seeing the old girls at DFW before they are all gone!
Hell yeah bud! I'm really glad you liked it! I need to go on more before they're gone. Thankfully the retirement date has been pushed back again because of Republic Air's bankruptcy!
AADFWspotters2 ik and I miss the old red white and blue livery
AADFWspotters2 I hope when I fly this summer I get to ride on the super80 at least 1 last time
I'm scheduled to fly on the MD-80 DFW-YYZ-DFW next month

As a nervous first time flyer (In August) this video was gold for me. It allowed me to feel a bit more relaxed on what to expect! Looks very peaceful once in the air! Wish me luck & thank you for sharing!
Of course. Thanks for watching and have fun!
How'd it go? Fun right?
@@SuperSpotterATL , what airlines are you a captain on?
I miss the old american airline when the use to operate all the Mcdonnell Douglas airfrath
I had a great experience talking to easyJet pilots a couple years ago. We were delayed whilst queuing to takeoff for an hour, and cockpit visits were allowed meantime. I was last to visit the pilots, because my seat neighbour was using a laptop and wouldn't put it away. But it turned out good because I was in the cockpit when the pilots received clearance to proceed. For a second I felt a part of the action.
I’m doing the reverse of this trip (Chicago to Dallas/Fort Worth) on an AA MD80 in May next year to connect with a Qantas A380 to Sydney. Should be quite a contrast but I love the old MD80s. As someone noted, one of the safest aircraft around. They’re incredibly versatile and I think pretty much indestructible.
There was a time when any airport you went to, DC-9s (MD-80) were everywhere on the field...thick as thieves....thanks for putting this up...Super aircraft.....Lot more wing flex now than there use to be in older airplanes like MD-80..
john james Thanks for the kind words! It's not called Super for nothing!
john james it's sad that they retired These and I heard only 20 are left in the fleet it is sad
Indeed.....
Tyler Thompson theres actually about 53 left right now
This particular plane has been retired from service and is now parked at Roswell. www.jetphotos.com/photo/8506029
Thanks for sharing old times.
love these videos. also noticed how quiet the cabin is. is that because of md80 or because your seat is so far ahead of the engine?
I love the old American livery, so cool!
I remember flying this airplane so often. Flying routes like SEA-DFW on them and even to LGA. Hurts to see it go.
DFW: hub with the old AA livery to ORD: hub with the new livery! Love seeing all the mad dogs :)
Canadian Plane Spotter Two very different atmosphere's! But still plenty of maddogs at both!
My very first airplane ride was with my Father + RIP as a youth in the 60s was on a American Airlines Electra airplane #106 still remember looking out left rear window at the wing and those big props moving. at the time my Father was in USNR as an aircrew member on a ASW aircraft. thanks for exciting share of trip.
Fear Allah unseen
gona miss these old planes
MD80s are❤️️❤️😍
American Airlines Something Special in The Air
Hey dude, thanks for uploading. I just subscribed your channel. ;)
Cl4rendon thank you! Sorry for the late comment!
Gate, taxing and take off took a long time, DFW is huge! It took over 20 Mings to get this flight airborne. It is so interesting because it used to be like every 45 mins that a flight would arrive and take off, way back when.
Love the mad dog 80
Gosh I remember when my home base of Chicago O’hare was crawling with the AA MD80’s, but not anymore. I haven’t seen one there in probably over a year. Used to fly on them from ord to Palm Springs to visit my grandparents all the time.
Interesting that you taxied right over the stop line for 36R/18L without stopping first! I thought that was not allowed. Nice vid.
Who else thought this was filmed in the '80s or '90s at first?
Wow. That was a very quiet takeoff considering those are JT8Ds.
Damn this plane was retired and scrapped this same month
Awesome video! As much as people complain about them, I like the old Mad Dogs.
eekwhodat They're the best!
Amazing video man
Just keep em coming
Absolutely dude! Glad you liked it!
34:11 nice view of the former Carswell AFB, where the Convair B-36 had its home base. It was constructed in the adjacent facility, now home to Lockheed-Martin I believe. (It's the airport below the lake, not the one in front.)
Was a snack or beverage served or did you just omit it or did I not see it (very possible lol)?
Flyinghow Yes! A drink is served when u sit down and throughout the rest of the flight! They served us lunch and snacks as well!
Thank you! Great video!
I'll be taking one of this from Dallas to oklahoma city pretty soon. Doing that stop from Tampa , Florida
I feel like I was on the plane myself.
Nice
My friend, you put an amazing amount of informations BUT you forgot to write down the DATE!!!!
American and Southwest Airlines should join each other
Are the MD80's considered a safe aircraft? flying on one in April.
Dana Steele One of the safest aircraft out there!
I figured so. I can scratch it off my bucket list of planes to fly on. I will also get to fly on an AA 777-200 from Miami back home to Tampa. weird they use a 777 for such a short flight, but I'm not complaining!
She seems a little beaten up - scratches and dings noted! Awww.
*She's Sorely Missed!*
Thank you
I been on that exact same flight 2 years ago, but different design plane.
Now is this the old carswell airforce base?
That's the first kind of plane i rode on and it it was American airlines. And we went from chicogo to Dallas
aww this plane has been scrapped already. SAD to see the maddogs go.
First Class and all you got was nuts, a beverage, and your own Chicken McNuggets?
Lunch was served at 38:00
I noticed a sticker on the plane next to the AA logo, do you know what it is?
jeepercreeper02 Nerd that sticker says Flagship Tulsa. Nose number 4WN, still in service. Originally a TWA MD-80.
Simon Alexander retired now
I hobknobbef with fighter pilots & cargo ones all military. Great nunch. I gixed yhem, they flew yhem. Both proud positions. Sirshows were great. B52 taking off on base. F15s. In 1980s. Now just a pax & av nerd.
Planes are real nice
This was my gate going to Minneapolis lol
CessnaN64107 oh cool! I've been through this gate many times.
I'm flying to Chicago o'hare in October but I'm flying United
This plane is depressing...
On the inside it's your everyday yellowing plastic and cramped seats. On the outside it has a fat fuselage with small wings far back and the T tail. Looks just rugged and ucomfortable cattle wagon.
But it's a god-damn icon I'll give it that.
The CRJ planes are way to small people who are tall have to duck to get into the seat without hitting their head
For some reason I always associate elevator failure with all Md80's. I must have watched some show that depicted them having faulty elevator controls as a kid.
aky19832001 Lol they just balance on the wires throughout the plane.
aky19832001 you must have seen Alaska 261 documentary
MrGTRfreak yea lol
RIP N479AA💔😐
Seems taxiing at DFW and O'Hare takes forever....over half of video seems to be just taxiing. Then again ORD and DFW are among the world's busiest airports so it's not surprising the wait time in taxiing.
Haha your not kidding dude! I gotta love it! So many more engine spool ups and a cool tour of my favorite airports on the coolest plane out there!
What's your main airport?
They serve McDonald's in flight?
No I bought it at DFW haha!
I wish
How could you eat it? Im assuming it was stoned cold lol
It was till really good!
:)
hate it when they do that shit. Why can't they make the delay when the plane is at the gate? Not when everybody's in the plane and in their seat and the plane is waiting out there on the taxiway
What do you think they do it on purpose...? Nothing AA can do...When Chicago gets slowed down, everybodies release time is affected...
The answer is they don’t want to keep those delayed planes at the gate blocking out the incoming planes that need those gates. It’s normally better to load them up and shove them off to a side taxiway.
@39:47 One can only guess what that could possibly be. eew.
i hate md80s but they seem quiet because they have rear mounted engines
Are you JordanCo_TV ?
No I'm Super SpotterATL
where you going to Chicago o hare or meigs
Corinne Cooper O'hare
You mean that all you get for the price of a first class ticket on an American Airlines domestic flight is an order of chicken McNuggets? Why on earth would anyone pay for a first class ticket? They ought to pay you for all the time you had to sit on the runway after they got you onto the plane!
Rod Kay824 Lol I brought that on the plane with me.
angry puppy
I never fly first class
Video needs a lot of editing. It only needs to run 45 minutes to include all that is necessary.
I hear you dude but I just want to put something in here for everyone in case there's something they want to see/ hear.
I hope you enjoyed the video though!
Super SpotterATL I liked it!
Super SpotterATL I enjoyed it. Perfect duration for me.
wda
Ok thank you
Tychicus Burrows You're welcome but for what?
I like this old livery best. The new grey are plain and drab.
i'm confused......why is this intriguing or how is it first class when the entire thing is shot from a window looking down at the earth out a window? and worse.....it's on a stupid 80.
