Brothers Bought an Abandoned Courtyard in Portugal | Transformation - TIMELAPSE Start to Finish

- From ruin to beautiful home. This rural Algarve village house was on it’s last legs. Knocking down and starting again wasn’t an option. We saw potential and took on the challenge to restore it’s original character and charm for the modern day.
Seeing through the rubble and mess in the courtyard, this had the potential to be a beautiful space to relax, Wine and dine.
The idea was to create a canvas for the next owner to have the opportunity to create their own secluded paradise.
18 month renovation start to finish.

I feel so lazy sitting here in my living room watching all this hard work!
😂😂😂😂
You are not alone
Me too!😂😂
I could watch people working all the time
Wow, it was scary how easily those walls came down. That courtyard is an absolute gem now.
Timelapse is a wonderful thing. I barely broke a sweat. Bloody well done!
Haha, glad to get these out the way so I can start the new stuff tomorrow.
Wow!!! I chat believe I have now spent 10 minutes just watching a guy a dont know, in a house I will never visit, jig saw puzzling a court yard floor back into full glory stone by stone! I have watched the whole thing, by the way and also the full restoration of the house itself. Unless you are completely exhausted (hope to God you're not 🙂) you guys must be in phenomenal shape from all that physical labour. Whatever that house sells for and no matter how much you make, it is not enough!
What an immense amount of work! I hope that the new owners, and all subsequent owners will love and maintain the property for the next 100 years!
Waw
Nice touch putting that blue little car in the wall--I hope it will bring a smile to the one discovering it.
Fabulous courtyard. I envision large palms in terracotta pots for shade, and shade cloths, and a big, rustic outdoor table seating at least 12.
Eish! That courtyard was really a disaster - I marvel that you made something out of it!
The best part is seeing you and your brother working together without bickering!
Very refreshing!
Andy and James...I have no words to express how satisfying the completion of this renovation has been. Marvelous ❤❤❤🇯🇲
Woke up at 3:00 am, couldn't get back to sleep, then found your renovation movie 🎬 it was the best thing ever!!! Loved it in it's entirety 🙏
U people are believable l have never seen people work so hard you are a credit to the human race you all take care and l know everyone just loves you all to bitsxx.
So beautiful. I normally don't care for the color used on the "upper" deck but there it looks so inviting. Makes me want a cup of coffee and a book and just sit and relax.
Portuguese folks see us sitting out in the sun and think we are a lil bit mad... so its no surprise the state of that outside space...imagine being the poor animals subjected to living out there...
Now you have transformed it into a beautiful GARDEN area, a place to unwind and relax....
its not even recognisable as before and after... but wow what an after... well done Christina James and Andrew, on a job massively well done... and although not an instructional video... I learned lots from it :)
Giving me the inspiration to stop working and start living,or rather retirement, in Portugal. With love from Somerset England. Very well done guys.
Beautiful!
Blimey, what a slog!?
Restoration of the chimney was a masterclass. Well done.
You turned that courtyard into the most inviting, relaxation/entertainment area, ever. The pizza oven is a winner.
The new owners could easily rent it out as a
You are the saviour of lost causes Andy! That bread oven is a piece of art!
Great finish . Now crack on with your dream house😘
Will do 😎
You are fantastic mr. "the blond guy" - love your videos - keep up the good work 🙂
That style of construction using Stone, Bricks, Tiles and Mortar looks very attractive, but here in New Zealand is unfortunately impossible. We have too many large Earthquakes. In 1859 we had an 8.3 with the Epicentre only about 15km away from where I now live. It was so big, it even shook all the big trees down!
We have loved every minute of this restoration ❤
Back breaking work, drilling and pulling up the concrete back yard! House looks adorable and whomever gets it is lucky. X:)
My favorite Weekly feeder on RUclips. Thanks from Stockholm
What a fantastic achievement for you and you brother. Great craftsmanship and hard work throughout. I’m sure it felt like a long slog many times during the 18 months but the experience will be one you can look back on when working on your own place now. Well done and good luck.👍👋🇮🇪
I didn't remember it was so bad! You guys must be so happy the house is done and sold... All the pressure gone...
i can see the older generations working in the courtyard. their routine. simpler life.
you did an amazing job restoring it.
Adeus Real Algarve Living 🙋🏻♀️ Olá That Blond Guy 🤗
Lovely results. To that courtyard sparkling in the sun with small, white pebbles the wind next Spring will send dust with hardy seeds that will embed themselves. Remember what it looked like at the start? And again when you came back after spectacularly finishing the house? How’d those plants get up there? The moisture barrier protects what is below but roots will love the moisture above it. You’ve created a lovely mulch for growing things. You’ll see. You, or a subsequent owner, will pave it over eventually. And install a hot tub. Fantastic work. Today my body decides to react to Covid booster. Your videos are the perfect antidote. Thanks and blessings.
Oh I remember it well all the stress and strain…the exhaustion and the delight when you finished another bit…I have loved every video…ther has been happiness and sadness then happiness again with those two who keep you in your toes most nights…and your well…you work very hard you and your brother and let’s not forget his lovely wife…you did an amazing job it looked beautiful at the end…your house next hopefully. X
It all seems so simple, but that’s because you and your brother are super competant. Thanks for another great épisode.
I felt happy seeing how you decided to save the old authentic roofing, instead of throwing it away like in the previous house. This time you decided to save more of the old. I love it.
Excellent Andrew
Andrew. I started watching your channel when James was replacing the pillars in the courtyard. What a mess you guys were facing, and, what beautiful job you have done. This was a pleasure. 👍👍🇨🇦
That was the part l most enjoyed ,,, absolutely AWESOME, YOU ARE ALL TERRIBLY TALENTED❤❤❤
Beautiful job! It is unbelievable how it looked before and now.
Great work lads well done..
I had forgotten how bad the courtyard was when you bought the place - WOW! what an incredibly beautiful place you have all created for the lucky new owners!
It all looks absolutely amazing, you have all worked so hard on the courtyard, well done Andy,,James & Christina & your helper ❤❤❤❤
Just fabulous. 💫👏💖
Fantastic job you have All done it looks amazing. I enjoy watching your video,s James & Christina as well. Thank you 🙏
YOU HAVE A GIFT! You are focused, very organised with a sharp vision on design. Lovely dogs by the way.
Very interesting video ❤
I love what you did with the courtyard. It was quite a thing to take a derelict yard full of collapsed animal stables and hutches, and to create a village centre garden with a view.
But I do look at the original footage and wonder if you could have rented out the original space as the set for a dusty fight scene in one of those Chinese Kung Fu movies. So many little roofs to jump off.
Then again, good renovation is always about revealing the original build of the space. And the lovely stone walls needed to be respected, as they were.
My backs aching watching this , but lads, what a magnificent job you've made. A total joy to watch. Thank you.
Everything you did on this property was just excellent I really enjoyed watching the bits I did
Proud you should be
A little or a lotta TLC, goes a long way. You all, should be extremely proud. Excellent work.
You took an eyesore and a mess and turned it into a work of art. I love the repurposing of the terre cotta tiles, the masonry around the bread oven. Outstanding job!
Man! Portugal is such a beautiful country! ❤❤❤
Thank You 😊
It is uplifting to see something restored, built up and made gorgeous in this world we live in now.
Beautiful job, congratulations !
Once again, amzing video. You have transformed the courtyard. Well done you all!
Oh my goodness! Under 40k Euro's for materials! That is amazing!
Andy and James, you are both true craftsmen and have done a wonderful job! It will be a fantastic home for someone!
The help of God in your hands working hard you created a beautiful home for yourself.🙏🏻
Nature and everything here is so beautiful, you guys did a great job, after cleaning and renovating everything is so beautiful, you have a very good working team, love your videos
Definately not for the faint-hearted once again!!
At times it seems you take your very life in your hands!! Crumbling walls & dizzy heights 😮.....but ....oh the transformations !!!! Awesome....awesome.....awesome
Yes... love the rustic look , absolutely love the bread oven the cobbled stonework....very talented workmanship.
Wow....what a creative partnership!!
Blessings from South Africa 🇿🇦 44:37
A lot of hard graft but it must give you pleasure seeing such a fabulous result. It's stunning, well done you and James plus other helpers who helped when needed.👍👍
The craftsmanship and just plain hard graft shines through in this total transformation. Bravo!
Watching these videos is like therapy!
Your previous video showing the 18 month Timelapse was amazing but this courtyard video was a winner.
Incredible. The surrounding area is breathtaking too. Hours and hours of fun and relaxation for the new lucky owners :-) I feel like after doing such a great job with that village house, you can take on anything. Well done!
YOU GUYS AREN'T HUMAN!!! YOU DECENDED FROM HEAVEN ON JACOB'S LADDER!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I can imagine that courtyard for entertaining with big, long table and a BBQ, lots of fairy lights when it gets dark. It would be stunning!
Your work is sensational, a true professional! Well done! 😊
Such an incredible transformation, you are definitely the most amazing blond guy I have ever enjoyed watching for 18 months 😂. How is your tendon coming along Andrew ?
Still have to take it easy for a few more weeks but definitely healing thanks. Making these two vids stopped me potentially making it worse. So as tedious as they were to edit they kept my attention away from lifting things. I’ll be starting off with light stuff. 👍
@blondguy good idea, take it easy! 😊
The courtyard is absolutely beautiful! Fabulous job! 🙂👍🇨🇦
I am amazed at your skill level! Just found your channel and have watched back to back. The European renovations are so enjoyable to watch and especially someone with your artistic design, incredible skill and relentless work ethic. Beautiful work!
😍Wow! You are making such an amazing job. A labour of ❤. I hope you get to enjoy it for many years. 🇬🇧🇸🇪
I admire your team's strength in carrying on this big project without the help of a demolition contractor/company.
That’s much, much better! You and your brother did a fabulous job❤️🤗🐝
A great job well done 👌
Super cool
These rebuilding projects are very educational for very young people to learn how to rebuild and pursue their dreams❤❤❤
Huge amount of respect. Absolutely stunning.
How about a video of the bloopers, there is no way that everything went to plan.
Non the less well done to you all.
As with the house, this was a magnificent result from a derelict courtyard. Congratulations to both James and yourself AND Cristina also which I forgot to mention in my previous comment about the main house video. Crazy I would forget Cristina as it is also my sister’s name. Looking forward to seeing you transform your own house. All the best.
such a transformation ! thanks for the editing efforts
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you Andrew, it's so satisfying seeing you guys break down all this old shed's and broken roof and then making a beautiful cort yard wonderful thanks good work 👍😁💪👌👏👏👏.
Sorry to have flicked through, but I’ve seen every single vlog from the start and what a great job you’ve all done. Every corner of this property has been done to a tee, you deserve a good margin and a few weeks off the thee of you.
Seeing this again, I marvel at how much work and how many ideas went into the courtyard. Also, it seems to me that the structures in the courtyard were for animals such as chickens, not for humans.
Definitely jealous of the new owners who have this gorgeous house hopefully they will get many many long happy years and incredible memories in it
Absolutely brilliant. 👍🏼
Great work, Portugal should be grateful for all your restoration of the delapidated hovels you bring back to life 👍👍
Knowing what you know now....would you spend 18 months on a house like this again? What would you do differently if anything? I can't imagine having that kind of patience considering the condition it was in, if it wasn't going to be a home I was going to live in long term. Your workmanship is beautiful and what you did to the chimney on the bread oven--simply spectacular.
I’ll be mentioning next week
What a rewarding and inspiring journey……both the house and courtyard turned out amazingly beautiful.
Thank you gentlemen and lady, for saving those derelict old homes, and giving them another chance to survive a century or so.
Love from Jhb, South Africa
Such a massive job to clear out everything and that’s just the beginning!! Hours of hard work but you two just do it!nothing is too much! Beautiful!
The only word I can say is exceptional! both worked so hard and got the results.
Wow!! We enjoyed watching your video from start to finished.
Beautiful court.yard renovation. We are happy you have completed it with greatness. Yourself and the workers are amazing ....
It amazes me how two people can look at the same thing, one sees demolition and the other sees potential. When the video started I was thinking it would be easier to tear down and start fresh. But wow, what an out come.
Recreating that stone floor was a thing of beauty to watch it was so carefully done and looked like with ease wonderful ❤
Wow again! You and your brother are such hard workers and so very skillful. Congrats to all of you! Well done. :)
Absolutely amazing work, Andy and James!
"It turned out just well". Are you kiding? It turned out amazing !!
What craftsmanship you all have! What a lovely home you’ve made!
What a wonderful job of bringing back this ruin to life. the house and courtyard look amazing. well done restoring this beautiful old property.
Easy to see that you've put your blood, sweat, and tears into this place. Great achievement.
Beautiful work
Much admiration. It isn't just having the skills it is also the vision of seeing what it can become.
Amazing - so beautiful. Loved you accomplished this with your brother. Blood, sweat and tears. I could only wish to do what you've completed. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sharing this journey. Thank you!
Amazing Andrew. What a journey. I thoroughly enjoyed watching craftsman at work. The new owners definitely have a quality home. Thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to the next chapter with your own home. See you next week Andrew.
HARD work. Good grief you are astounding ,and your ability to turn tin into gold is wonderful.
Looking forward to the transformation of your house Andrew. I can't wait. It's gonna be beautiful no doubt.
That wall in the courtyard near the start of the video is gorgeous. I love the character and colours of the stone.
