Such a neat truck. I have a traxxas slash. technically. Yours is painted and a different color. I use the sidewinder v3 also. I love how you designed Creature. Keep up the good work!
You got a castle good choice. I use a castle mmp and a 5700kv motor on my rustler and it goes 65mph on 3s. I have had it for 2 yrs and it hasn't let me down.
Bout time you got with the 21st century man. Lol looking good brother. I came out of retirement. I've got 2 I'm workin on myself and buildin 2 rustlers for a friend. When I start I'll be sure to post vids.
The castle on off switches on their esc's are famous for going out so I highly recommend that you turn it on and if by just plugging and unplugging the battery
RPM has a new ESC cage made for this car/esc combo! Picking it up at my LHS Friday. I have the Sidewinder SCT V3 in my Slash that started out as a basket case. It was a former hobby shop track rental truck.
Actually this thing is holding up really well. After running it for a while the motor and ESC doesn't run so hot anymore. I guess it just had to break in. As for nimh, it should show some more speed but it won't shine until you use lipo.
I have melted a sidewinder 3 esc in my traxxas blast. A tip is to not run battery after battery right after another, just wait a couple of minutes between batteries
little tip you can buy a castle 36mm motor fan and put it over the esc , it fits just over , after that secure it on with some tip ties or tape and jou r done !
that looks really good! im running the velineon motor still but with the sidewinder esc. Btw, if your esc does get hot, you can get a $10 motor fan and put it on the esc. i got it and my esc stays barley warm :)
I don't plan on sending my slash swimming so I think it will be fine. Looking for something else velineon fried, and had a hobbyking waterproof setup that lasted a whole 20 seconds. Nice build btw!
P Blitz: I had a few stripped screws yesterday when I swapped mine... Drill the head off and when u get it drilled should pop off then take the needle nose n spin it out..
when you buy those new gears i would strongly recomend getting a losi brand pinion i really like these they seem stronger than traxxas ones and they dont rust as easily.
You get what you pay for. The Velineon System can completely be submerged in water and be fine. You do that with the SV3 it will burn out. It can handle some water being splashed on it but to much and you endager it of being burnt out.
Try braiding the wires from the esc to the motor.....it makes a single and very strong cable.....less of a chance you will rip a cable out.....plus it reduces radio interference, which is needed for non 2.4ghz radios
Actually, at this point I like it more then the Velineon. I won't know for sure till I get better gearing and run it during the summer and see how it handles heat.
as for mounting the ESC just take an aluminum ruler cut it to size drill holes in it the screw it to where the old ESC was then just use some double sided tape to stick the new ESC to the ruler
It seems to be random. I've heard people say they completely submerged their Sv3 in water and had no problems and others that say it got slightly wet and it burned out. So I couldn't really tell you. All I can say is I've had no problems yet and I haven't gotten it wet yet so I don't know.
I bought it off eBay. Cheapest price I could find for $99. 4600kv should be fine. As for putting it in your Merv, I have no clue. If you do, let me know how it turns out.
You got it. The SV2 is exactly like the SV3 but not waterproof. I've seen no proof that it performs better. The motors were waterproof to begin with so there's no upgrade there.
they have fixed the heating up issue so it doesnt need one. Also if you get a fan it doesnt make it waterproof and i bet castle creations wanted it to be fully waterproof so they fixed the heat issue
Thats awesome i was hoping you would put a castle on creature, it will make it a little wheelie popping machine. I had a sv2 3800kv on my HPI blitz before i started racing and it was fast! Now on my pede, but if i could give a little advice i would get a program card for it so you can go to NiMh if you wanted to and for general set up, also im not sure if the sv3 is set up for castle link but thats the way to go plug into the computer and control your power curve any way you please, enjoy!
jason, im a union sheetmetal worker and im making a custom aluminium mount for my rustler. if you can get me a sketch, deminsion and hole layout i would be able to make you a esc plate that would be worthy of going on creature. anodizing green would be on you though. lol.
i got one of these finally for my rustler, and the power switch was messed up, when i first ran it everytime i hit a jump the motor and stuff would just shut off randomly then id go turn it off and on it would work fine until i hit a few more jumps and i thought it was overheating.. and it started to work after that for a little while, but i left it sit for like a week, when i tried to run it it simply would not turn on for anything... then i cut the power switch off and hot-wired it together and put some electrical tape on it.. pluged it in,, came on and has been working perfectly since that..
have you hooked a 3s on to the this 4600kv? if so, any heat issues with motor or esc? not too familiar with these types of rigs, but i wanna 4x4 bash with a wraith crawler; do you think the system will stay cool?
KV is rather simple when you take out all the mathematics out of it. The lower the KV the higher the torque/acceleration but lower the top speed. Lower KV can handle more Volts from a battery. The higher the KV the lower the torque/acceleration but higher top speed but it can't handle as many Volts from a battery.
which pinion gear do you use? I have a 5700kv and Castle says not to use bigger than an 18T. I had a 19T but I'm gonna put on a 12T when it comes in the mail.
It is cheaper than a vxl system, but I am getting longer run times on the 3s Lipo than the vxl, not much difference in speed.Vxl does seem to have more torgue.
have you tested the top speed? i am looking to buy one for traxxas slash 2wd. I am very excited, the titan 12t brushed motor isnt fast enough i love to go fast. Have you run through any water yet. HAs anything bad happend Thanks, James Hamer
Donkey Commander the difference is the lower the kv the more the torgue the higher the kv the faster your car wil go basically low kv=wheelies & standing backflips High kv=speed and hot motor and esc and only for drift cars if you want a good esc and motor for a good price try the copperhead 80a esc combo
Hey Jason I know you're busy and all and this is an old vid but do you need anything or want anything for any of your rcs? I have the same ones and some spare parts.
How's this thing holding up? I'm gonna get one for my ecx torment and run it on 7 cell Nimh will It be fast? What speeds should I expect? Love Ur vids I subbed!
Hi Jason, love the whole modifying RC thing. I know I'm late but I was wondering, should I get this system or the velineon system in my rustler xl-5. Have a great day man.
And what kv motor should I buy, a 7700 kv a 5700 kv or a 4600 kv system. All the same price. I blew up my 12 turn so I need a new motor produces less heat and more power. I am considering a heat sink. It will be run off-road and in the sand (with paddle tires for the sand). What gearing do you recommend? I want a all round setup for gears. Thanks for the input man.
I got the Sidewinder 4 for my Slash 2wd, and man I hate the programming aspect of it, its so annoying, and the instructions are not vary clear either. I use to use my old Nimh battery just because I have it, why not, but the hole programing the LVC on or off is such a pain in the rear... So I just use lipo anymore, can't even give these nimh batteries away lol

Good point. However, when it does rain, I can't resist but to drive through all water and mud I can find.
little tip you can buy a castle 36mm motor fan and put it over the esc , it fits just over , after that secure it on with some tip ties or tape and jou r done !
around the same setup on my slash. Super duper power lots of fun and it creates weak point that I get to make stronger.
It's when you convert your slash into a type of Buggy. You can find a ton of videos on youtube about it.
that looks really good! im running the velineon motor still but with the sidewinder esc.
Wow , seeing those tires spin. Made a big difference for me
P Blitz: I had a few stripped screws yesterday when I swapped mine... Drill the head off and when u get it drilled should pop off then take the needle nose n spin it out..
when you buy those new gears i would strongly recomend getting a losi brand pinion i really like these they seem stronger than traxxas ones and they dont rust as easily.
I don't mind at all. The more I know the better. Thanks!
You get what you pay for. The Velineon System can completely be submerged in water and be fine. You do that with the SV3 it will burn out. It can handle some water being splashed on it but to much and you endager it of being burnt out.
That is an awesome offer. However I already mounted the esc using some stainless steel cable. Thank you anyways though!
Yeah I've only used a 3s for it. But I have to admit that the motor does run a little hot.
thanks finaly someone who shows how to instal somthing , you r awesome dude
I had to come back and re watch lol... i might have to get that for my slash when its done... gonna be uploading build vids real soon...
Try braiding the wires from the esc to the motor.....it makes a single and very strong cable.....less of a chance you will rip a cable out.....plus it reduces radio interference, which is needed for non 2.4ghz radios

Thank you Darkeclipticheart I just orderd the spur and pinion and a fan
Yeah it should work fine in the Stampede
Please do a review of this system once you have proper gears and can see how it handles the heat
It seems to be random. I've heard people say they completely submerged their Sv3 in water and had no problems and others that say it got slightly wet and it burned out. So I couldn't really tell you. All I can say is I've had no problems yet and I haven't gotten it wet yet so I don't know.
It averages about the same as the Velineon. So you can get to go 60mph with the right gearing.
thanks. i plan on using it on mine and convert my slash to a backslash.
Installing the same motor and esc in my slash thanks for the idea
You got a link for this? All I'm finding is the sensored motor
So far I've reach 40mph with no problems. But I need to test out other gearing ratios to see what the system can really do.
mine should be in Tuesday ill put a video response up nice vid!
i just put mine in my traxxas 30 anniversary gravedigger,i got the 5700kv combo....and now i think i'm going to need new tires!
I like it but I have to admit I've heard a ton of people say it fries when it gets to wet. I haven't had any problems yet.
Honestly I'd stick with Velineon since the Velineon is MUCH more resistant to water.
It was velineon it was regular brushed 550 12t s2 capacity
I bought it off eBay. Cheapest price I could find for $99. 4600kv should be fine. As for putting it in your Merv, I have no clue. If you do, let me know how it turns out.

system looks great! how do you like it compared to the vxl system?
Metal Cable. I already did it but I haven't made a video that shows it yet.
jason, im a union sheetmetal worker and im making a custom aluminium mount for my rustler. if you can get me a sketch, deminsion and hole layout i would be able to make you a esc plate that would be worthy of going on creature. anodizing green would be on you though. lol.

Yeah the switch for the SV3 is terrible
You shoulda mounted the esc forward, the battery wires facing forward and the moor wires backward toward the motor. Either say nice upgrade
How's it working for you ? I had the velineon and it fried. I know some people are saying these aren't as waterproof as stated on the package.
Oh thanks, can't seem to find one under 120, anyways do you think I can fit this thing into my Losi XXX-SCT?
have you hooked a 3s on to the this 4600kv? if so, any heat issues with motor or esc? not too familiar with these types of rigs, but i wanna 4x4 bash with a wraith crawler; do you think the system will stay cool?
Yes it has to be a 11.1v lipo
KV is rather simple when you take out all the mathematics out of it. The lower the KV the higher the torque/acceleration but lower the top speed. Lower KV can handle more Volts from a battery.

Honestly I'd go with the Velineon. SV3 runs a bit hot and is not as waterproof as the Velineon.
Awesome upgrade
definitely a nice combo,
what speed reaches this truck with this system sv3 ?
Best regards
great video......... i dont know what system buy Vxl or SV3 this looks good
Not sure. I'll have to measure it.
It is cheaper than a vxl system, but I am getting longer run times on the 3s Lipo than the vxl, not much difference in speed.Vxl does seem to have more torgue.
wait i just noticed you said 4-pole 4600kv? are all the sidewinder 3 4-pole? dosent 4-pole mean it has more torque?
Yes they can.
Which battery do you use for the 4600? Also can you use 2s or no?
I have the same motor so AWSOME and simple to use
have you tested the top speed? i am looking to buy one for traxxas slash 2wd. I am very excited, the titan 12t brushed motor isnt fast enough i love to go fast. Have you run through any water yet. HAs anything bad happend
Thanks,
James Hamer
so the motor is waterproof too now? that would rock i'm thinking of getting this setup but with the 5700kv
That's awesome! Do you think you could send the used motor my way for my bandit?
2 questions
1. Can the esc NOT THE MOTOR take up to a 3s?
2. What are differences between the kilovolts? I want to see what kind of motor I can get.
Donkey Commander what car do you have and yes it can
Calvin Ramin I have a Traxxas Telluride 4x4 I have the sv3 combo and also have a 3800kv but I want to also know what are differences between the kv's
Donkey Commander the difference is the lower the kv the more the torgue the higher the kv the faster your car wil go basically low kv=wheelies & standing backflips
High kv=speed and hot motor and esc and only for drift cars if you want a good esc and motor for a good price try the copperhead 80a esc combo
Calvin Ramin thank you very much I appreciate it a ton
Donkey Commander your welcome always a pleasure in the rc community
That's what I'm currently trying to get.
so after youve had the sv3 for a while. would you recommend the sidewinder or a velineon 3500??
is the Sidewinder 3 Truely waterproof? I see alot of people saying it shorts out and stuff and that its really water resistant.
Hey Jason I know you're busy and all and this is an old vid but do you need anything or want anything for any of your rcs? I have the same ones and some spare parts.
Got one it's great for the price I just wish they would include a castle link to program it but super fast 4600kv on my 2wd slash
Ok so um going to go brushless in my brushed slash and I am wondering if I need to change to metal gears.
where did you get that system for $99 that is one heck of a deal!!!
do you run 2s lipos with the new motor and if u do how is the performance? please infrom me cause im strongly considering this new motor
Hey, I have one of those and having a hard time choosing a battery, which one do to use?
not as waterproof? what do you mean? I would go with the SV3 it is a cheaper version of the Velieneon
i was wating for this video so long finaly its here i love it nice slash XD
How's this thing holding up? I'm gonna get one for my ecx torment and run it on 7 cell Nimh will It be fast? What speeds should I expect? Love Ur vids I subbed!
whats your running time? going full out, and or just messin around?
that's awesome good for you I am doing something similar but black and white with my traxxas raptor 2wd
Black and white. Sounds awesome!
thanks!
How long of the green mesh you need
Do this work with the nickel battery that comes with the slash. I just bought one for my little boy and am wanting to upgrade the motor.
Ive been looking into these and i think im gonna go with the exact same system for mt bandit
Awesome! I gotta get one of those:)
is the ony diffrence from the sv2 and 3 that it is water proof. aswell is the motor the same? is the motor water proof on the older combos?
I'm not sure to be honest. I would think it would work fine.
Would you recommend this for the rustler vxl? Would it be better then the Velenion
Hi Jason, love the whole modifying RC thing. I know I'm late but I was wondering, should I get this system or the velineon system in my rustler xl-5. Have a great day man.

I am considering a heat sink. It will be run off-road and in the sand (with paddle tires for the sand). What gearing do you recommend? I want a all round setup for gears. Thanks for the input man.
ty barney For off roading I would suggest 4600kv. Gearing I would suggest 82t Spur and 21 pinion.
It did for a while but not anymore.
@darkeclipticheart where did you get your motor and esc from
Yes
Oh really? What is it?
like i asked on the vxl system does a stock traxxas 7 cell work fine with this motor?
I cant decide between the VXL or the SV3
Eventually.
So I just use lipo anymore, can't even give these nimh batteries away lol
do u like the castle sv3 or velenion better im thinking about getting one for my stampede which is better and faster
I have a traxxas slash 2wd what is the difference between 1406 & 1410 & which one is better for top speed
Sorry but I don't know the difference.
Which one do you recommend for race
What did you use and or do too mount your esc to the slash chasis
I dont get it. If the motor have more kv means it has more power?
Do you know what size the esc/motor connectors are? 3.5mm or 4 mm?
So would you say that this ended up to be a faster combo than velenium system?
