I'd like to know more about the boxes you built and if you think they really help the sound. I honestly might just get some deep plastic bowls and glue them on the back of the speaker if it'll be better than nothing.
Cool! The boxes you built in the ceiling probably have a lot to do with the low end response, but I'd expect an 8" woofer to hit at least 50Hz regardless. Although, in free air like a drop ceiling, I bet there's a world of difference. Thanks for the review.
Thanks, Finite. Yes... you're probably right. As noted, performance can vary based on install parameters. And as much as we'd like to compare between a boxed vs open install, there's zero chance of more drywall being cut. ;-) Thanks for comments here and and on other videos. They're certain appreciated. Come on over to the forum and make your presence known! :-)

Seems like these are a good entry into a pair of Atmos speakers. Local dealer was recommending some B&W382, which I'm sure is a great speaker. But i would rather use the the money saved on speakers to get a better AVR or even towards a new display.
@@WilliamJSisti looks like amazing speakers, but a bit above my price point for in-celing. Did you put an enclosure around them or leave the back side open? I'm leaning toward open when I install these monoprice. Funny you mentioned the LX305. I got a very similar receiver with the TX-RZ50. How are you enjoying the DIRAC? Did it make a big difference? I'm still working on the home theater so I haven't gotten a chance to unbox it yet.
@@raizt1596 DIRAC was great. I did a "quick" calibration using my phone and taking 8 or 9 measurements. Then recently we got a new couch and some sound panels on the wall. I re-did the calibration using the app on my laptop and was able to do some finer tuning with more measurements. The new receiver really made my speakers come alive. As for the KEF Ci160ER, I left them open in the joist. My media space is in a converted garage and the ceiling is closed above with flooring for storage. Bought a special hole saw to cut the 8 or 9 inch hole int he ceiling and both speakers are in the same joist space.
Would you recommend this for home theater? Also for the 15 degree angle would that be better?

@@Finite-Tuning LOL. No... LOVE drywall dust! It's the patching... UGH. Thanks for being a long time member. AWESOME!
@@av_nirvana Can you provide details on the boxes you built in the ceiling. Dimension etc..

I think you made the right call. If you get a receiver with DIRAC, it can fix any issues you have and make your speaker sound more premium.
@@raizt1596 ended up with a set of KEF 8” curling speakers for about $300 all in. Paired them with a Pioneer lx305. It’s has been great.
