    I have these and enjoyed your review. They're easily the best-sounding earbuds I've owned and are a significant upgrade over my older Sony XM5's. They nearly match my overhead cans... the DT1990 Pro's, and that's a huge compliment. 😂 The sound quality alone justifies the price, which is just as well, as other aspects, such as ANC are a bit "mid" in comparison. Anyway, great review and it's nice to watch a deep dive. 👍

    The term “Favorites” seems different from the Harmony (Elite) in which a Favorite is a channel - like HBO. What I like about my Elite, instead of entering the 3 digits for HBO, I just look for the HBO logo/icon. Any idea if shipment of the R3 on track for next month or is there a delay? Have you looked at the Cantana Haptique RS90x?

      @av_nirvana 5 дней назад

      You can program favorites with custom logos into the UCR2 if you like, even specific apps, etc. the delivery seems to be mostly on track but a packaging issue may slide it a few weeks according to the latest update (a couple weeks ago). I have not tried the Cantata but if they wanted to send one I’d certainly review it. I should have an Alonis on the way soon as well.

    The Mini AX doesn't actually really separate the traditional stereo L & R channels, which makes sense if you consider how small the soundbar is anyway. If you play a song with really strong channel separation like eg "If you're going to San Francisco" (or play a stereo channel test clip) you'll notice this. Instead it uses its Stereo Dimensional Array to create an immersive, surround-sound experience that encompasses the whole soundstage which extends way beyond the soundbar itself. It's very impressive!

    I have been using the X1S for almost a year now. The ring button failed after a month of use. It was only after posting a bad review on Amazon that Sofa Baton was willing to replace it. The replacement has been fine. My setup is a bit unusual, but the X1S is nearly perfect. In my living room I have two separate systems - An older Samsung TV, Denon AVR, Apple TV and a Blu-ray Player. The second system is a Sony Projector, Marantz Processor, 2nd Apple TV, and a Shield TV. The separate systems are activated by activities. To make it all work nicely, I needed to add a Xantec IR distribution block to run cables to my projector, the rear IR inputs on the Denon and Marantz, and Flashers to the TV, Blu-ray player, and Shield TV. The 2 Apple TVs use Bluetooth which is AWESOME! Pros: -My wife and my 5 year-old child can use it mostly trouble free. -Controlling Apple TV via Bluetooth is in a few ways even better than the Apple remote. I have more commands available on the X1S than the Apple remote, but I don't have Siri. -Battery life is fair - about 3 weeks on a charge. -the macros/activities work 99% of the time. - I personally love the feel and ergonomics of it. -Cost - is cheap compared most usable universal remotes. -Alexa integration is basic, but effective - It just turns activities on or off. -the iPhone app is handy when the remote battery dies. Cons: -RF signal is weak. If I am holding the remote close to my body, the frequencies gets absorbed and don't make it to the base station. -It only has 2 flasher outputs, and they are not individually addressable. That's why I needed to Jerry-rig the Xantec block. -I live in the "activities" area of the remote. In that area, there is no battery level indicator. The battery has died many times before I realized it. -Sofa Baton refused to replace my defective remote until the saw my negative review. -The learning function just plain sucks. If it's not in their code base, it's likely not going to work. -When a macro/activity fails, getting to the button you need such as power or source, takes a lot of clicks and scrolling. Despite the cons, I really love it. I have a friend who can hook me up with Crestron or Control 4, but I prefer to have something that I can deal with myself. I had been using a URC remote for more than 10 years, but after a few days, I like the X1S much better.

    Surely these new remotes will be great someday. As you said, the dependence on a cellphone app is NOT the best idea. Okay, the young guys and gals have their phones glued to their skin and use them for everything, but give us more life experienced folks a real computer to use. It is so much easier and faster. When the day comes that I can afford a new remote to replace my Logitech Sofabaton may be the one I choose then. But, for now, I think the Suit at Logitech who decided it was a good idea to shut down the remotes should have his armpits infested with the flees of a thousand camels. LOL

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 18 дней назад

      Logitech had decades of progress that led to where it is now. The new remotes will get there, and it won’t take decades. I’m sure Logitech’s decision was based on the ROI of their work. The remote paradigm is shifting from sending commands to integrating tightly with multimedia devices, the new remotes will be and are already much more powerful than Harmony remotes ever were. They need to expand databases and improve UI and you’ll forget Harmony existed.

    Yo Flossy and everyone else in the Audio Community. I discovered a fatal flaw in the Pi8's. Mine were brand new yesterday from John Lewis cost £349.99 and I maxed out the EQ and Volume and played this track ruclips.net/video/FJxTm372gmQ/видео.htmlsi=r6q1Zrn0X3cKr1m9 by Mark Spence 2 The Floor. On the Right earbud was a crackling distortion where the driver could not handle it. I urge you to test this for yourself. You may want to return them. Think I will fall back to the Bose Ultra QCs after this. Pi8's are going back.

To clarify, toggling modes in ie Passthrough and Noise Cancelling in the App and increasing Volume will reveal this. In what you're trying to do is deflect off or justify or overlook the fault which is not fair and honest as a reviewer. I have a quesiton about QL3000, I learned both QL3000 QL7000 will be selling without lens? What if my room size is a little bit short to throw a 135 inches screen(base on its throw ratio 1.52),and I did some research it can do short throw by using epson's ultra short lens xo2s lens,but only up to 120 inches?do they have other options? thanks!

    I don't like the dock is also what used to your hub on harmony remote, for me that's not so convenient, as the AVR is in a closet and shield and blue ray is in an other one next to it and would like to have the remote dock next to me

      Good news. The Remote 3 has an extra IR blaster that you can put in your equipment closet. Unfolded Circle has been listening to users and implemented many of their requests into the Remote 3, in production now and coming very soon.

    You need to test in real world with a 120hz 4k source. You have not done that. I suggest a PC with an Nvidia GPU or a ps5 pro with 120 4k. That's where lower quality cables will underperform.

    Whats the difference between these kinds of speakers and floor standards from paradigm, monitor audio or something similar? I mean these towers r made for music so won't they also good if you have the same gear powering the next level speakers ??

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 20 дней назад

      There are a lot of technical qualities that can make a difference. Efficiency, dynamics and distortion are the big differentiators. A speaker that performs well for movie content will likely perform well for music, but not necessarily vice versa. Movies require much more speed and dynamics to go from silence to reference level and back in an instant. This is much less common with music. Yes, a snare drum requires dynamics, but the rest of the music happening around the snare means the speaker doesn't have to go from 0-100 in a fraction of a second and then back down, with an accurate decay. These dynamics are made possible with efficiency, and efficiency is more readily accessible with horn tweeters. Speed of the driver is also a factor with dynamics - how quickly can it reset? This is aided by the relatively small cabinet on the Reference Cinema speakers, but is also due to the driver design itself. The exception to the music vs movies discussion is orchestral music, which often has similar dynamics to a movie, which is also why when you look at the 2-channel systems in the listening rooms of people who listen to a great deal of classical and orchestral music, they're using speakers that utilize horn tweeters. Speed and dynamics. Distortion is the other differentiator. The Reference Cinema speakers have a very low distortion spec. There's a video on the product page where the speaker's engineer discusses how the Reference Cinema came together and the qualities that allow it to perform the way it does.

      @@av_nirvana Thanks for a detailed response. So a Triad, JBL synthesis or an one wall Paradigm CI series speakers would be a better choice then lets say a Paradigm Premier 700f speakers as LCRs?

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 20 дней назад

      In my opinion the Paradigm does not compete with the others listed. I would not purchase an open back speaker because that turns your wall into the cabinet. Speaker design carefully plans the cabinet volume into the crossover design and driver selection as they all work together to create the final sound. The NextLevels have been favorably compared to the JBL Synthesis by Jeff Meier of AccuCal AV, at a fraction of the cost.

    • @MD2525-1

      @@av_nirvana Paradigm also makes on wall speakers. They are called CI something.

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 20 дней назад

      I didn’t see any OnWall speakers on the Paradigm site, but did find some full enclosure inwalls (CI Elite E3 LCR v2) which would make the list, but looking at the specs they’re not as efficient, have smaller drivers, and don’t perform as well as the NextLevels and cost essentially the same, before any negotiating you could potentially do with NextLevel.

    This looks like a really nice build. I do have questions. LOL I'm an avid Harmony user. We have 4 Harmony remote, mind you, after repairing them all (buttons failing) one was not repairable (long story). But the others work great and I'm still able to reprogram them from the Logitech Harmony servers. So here's my question, with the special remote that you show, can it be configured to work just like the Harmony (without involving Google Assistant) ?? Can it be set up that, like the Harmony, where say, the volume buttons work for the surround system; channels up/down work for a Channel Master DVR+ (also a Channel Master PAL7000 dvr), and only power on/off a Panasonic 3D Plasma TV? (input selection not necessary) In the sense that, you press the main button and the remote powers on each device, one at a time (or off when done), then sets the other buttons up for the above choices. ???? Logitech has already stopped making the Harmony (every model), which honestly, is the stupidest decision ever for a huge company to make. Especially nowadays when people NEED a good universal, like the Harmony. I honestly don't understand the business decision to do that. So I welcome some other, new brand that can operate in the same way as the Harmony. Sadly, most seem to be set up where you can't just press one "ON" button and all devices are powered up, then keys assigned as required. It's like you have to select each device to perform its actions. I'm hoping that some remote comes to market soon, because if not, I'm going to have to design my own remote. I have the ability, equipment and parts to do that, but what I do not have the ability to do, is to make it nice and sleek as what you show here. LOL I was considering making a much larger one that would sit on the livingroom table. I have 7" touch screens that I can use, but they are rather heavy (solid builds). But if I end up doing this, it will work like the Harmony, but not programmable like the Harmony (which is programmed via server interaction). I'd have to scan in each IR code. So, does this remote operate the same as Harmony in that way?? Thanks in advance.

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 21 день назад

      Short answer is yes. Home Assistant (not Google) opens up a lot more options and is easy to implement. But yes, you can program all your device remotes into the UC Remotes (Remote 3 is the new version coming soon). Once your device remotes are setup you can build Activities based on the devices required and the remote itself is completely customizable within an activity. Heck, if you wanted to make the PLAY button into the volume down button on your TV and the VOLUME DOWN button into the FAST FORWARD button it would allow it (but obviously not recommended). You can map all the buttons to whatever you want and create as many different screens as you want to add more functionality into an activity. The database of devices is nowhere near as vast as the Harmonys, but it will learn your existing remotes or integrating Home Assistant gives you access to all the different device integrations that already exist on that platform.

    I really only want this to connect my TV, Xbox, Apple TV and Sonos speakers. Is this overkill in your opinion or a good choice? Great review. thank you

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 22 дня назад

      It will be capable of controlling all the devices you’ve listed. Overkill is dependent upon the value you place on build quality and the everyday experience of using the remote. If that daily experience is important, it’s probably a good choice. If you view the remote as a tool to get a job done, it’s probably overkill.

    Great review. Two questions: 1. The armrests seem a bit high? are ones shoulders relaxed when reclined to a normal viewing position? I sat in a chair once where my arm would be raised too much. 2. Did you find you need to use a pillow or similar to rest the neck and head or did the headrest work without additional support? Looking to replace my current seating and considering options.

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana 23 дня назад

      I’ve not found the armrests to be too high at all in the reclined position, though I do know what you mean. If I’m sitting more straight up, I tend to put only my elbows on them, and the height is fine for that as well. I do wish the headrest came forward a bit more, but that’s also partly due to my posture and neck position which I’m working on improving. For now a pillow does the trick if I recline fully, but I find reclining only partway is the most comfortable position for my back, in which case a pillow is not required.

    I have the Max AX SR for my patio deck projector system. As the video notes, it’s a very easy setup and breakdown which works really well for my situation. I had concerns about how much bass this would put out given the open space and lack of a ceiling for the waves to bounce off of, but I can tell you with all confidence that if I were to start pushing the volume levels, it will piss off the neighbors and would eventually yield a friendly conversation with the local authorities. Todd also speaks facts about the limits that the sub has, where it does get a bit muddy at around 65%-70%, but if you need the volume that loud, it’s probably because you have a large room where a full AVR system is more suitable. Accessories 4 less has a refurb version of these and the SR series for half the cost, and don’t let the “refurb” label deter you from purchase. Mine looks and sounds just as new. This is a great system at a nominal cost.
