Soooo I just started working with Apollo today, after a few days research of what he enjoys, and deciding that what he is that god for really resonates with me. I even set up a little alter today and sprayed it with lavender and things I thought he would enjoy. Most of which were already in the space I set up as an alter. I don’t have a candle for him, and I made sure he knew that I’m sorry about that, and I even found a book looking for a candle about Greek gods AND IT HAD APOLLO IN IT! I learned more about him! I think I’m going to read to him about him about his sister lol.
DO DOES APHRODITE TOO SHE WAS THE FIRST DEITY I WANTED TO WORK WITH, but I’m not quite ready for her since I’ve heard she is a tricky deity to work with because she involves a lot of maintenance, and I just don’t have the ability to do it right now, but I trust she will wait until I’m ready and more experienced.

you don’t need to wait for a deity to contact you, if you want to work with one you can contact them

Just deep dive study the one(s) you feel most drawn to, then make an alter to the one(s) you feel even more drawn to. Pay attention to (as in write down) your dreams for a few months. Check for themes. Those are your clues/messages. Keep talking to and leaving them Offerings. They either will reach out after a while or it may not be meant to be. But you need to put in the work first. Good luck!
If your unsure how to reach out to them, pick one you feel closest to, get them a candle (when I tried working with bastet I literally used a dollar store candle) and just try to pray to them, look for signs like the previous person said and maybe you'll see that it's working and you can go from there, it didn't work out for me but give it a shot! Good luck!
DO NOT FORCE IT! by reaching out to deity you could be bothering one that you won’t work well with and that’s never good. Some people wait a long time to find a deity they connect with, so do not worry! Personally, I was reached out to as soon as I started my practice which wasn’t ideal and I didn’t go about it well since I had never researched iy. Research many deity as it can be seen as an act of devotion and eventually one will reach out.

I've made notes of all the entities I've felt drawn to, but there's one in particular I feel VERY connected to and comfortable with. But doing anything with him is difficult bc any and all information boils down to one word: traitor. So, I've had to make him a name sigil (doodled it in class so I think he had a hand to play), and piece together things he might like and possible signs, all by myself, with what limited and biased information there is. It's.... I don't know what to do. I can feel him. I've meditated on a pendant I felt he liked and I *saw* him. But how do I worship someone who's only legacy is betrayal and greed?

I'm with you here, I feel so connected to an entity about which most ancient texts have been lost and it doesn't even really belong in a pantheon so i don't know what rituals i could engage in or create without accidentally contradicting myself.
I worship Artemis, Apollo, Hestia, and psyche. Psyche is my favorite because she’s always so kind and sweet! Oh yeah sometimes I leave things out for Athena

I work with Pan Hekate Athena and Poseidon I don't have a whole lot of alter space so what I've done is I have a desk and a shelf whatever deity I've Devined to work with that day gets to go on the desk cause there's more room for offerings but the rest of my deities have their own shelf space until the days I work with them
I thought Pan was Cernunnos hah guess they are easy to get mixed up

i started to work with Aphrodite and Bastet the same day after i found out they were sending me signs for uhhh a very long time and then Aphrodite brought Apollo to help me with my trauma and recently i started to work with Dionysus bcus he was actually the first who approached me i think but i wasnt reqdy then but now i am and he agreed after i reached out to him but is it common for Apollo to not want an altar when you ask him if he wants one? he pulled seven of swords on me so i guess i was too egoistic and only thought about how to decorate the altar instead of how to honor him so thats on me but will he be okay without one? should i still give him at least a candle and an offering cup?

I'm really curious, I really want to work on my self love since I'm transgender (ftm). I would love to work with aphrodite but I'm worried about the feminine energy if that makes any sense. I've been very drawn to working with loki aswell. I have been in my practice for 5 years now and I'm still lost in the deity range. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you!!
Totally understandable to be worried about the feminine energy! You can definitely still work with Aphrodite though : )

I only got to start working with a deity (Persephone) like 4 days ago; I'm really confused about "tricksters", what are those? And how do I know if it's a trickster or the actual godess? Is lighting up her candle every day okay? And like- how to work with a deity? I saw some videos about it but I didn't rlly understand- do you use the deity's energy on spells? Also people seem to talk with deities, how to do that? I basically can only talk to Persephone through tarot or pendulum but I can't really hear her

You can identify tricksters by their behavior. While everyone has their own experiences with deities, many have stories written about them. If the spirit is behaving really opposite of their history or they cannot confirm basics about themselves, they are likely trickster.
An example, if a spirit claiming to be Odin appears, but presents as a warm, open, fuzzy grandpa energy, I'd question that because it's against his known nature. Researching deities (their actual mythology, not social media) will help you learn them better and can spot them easier.
Yes, you can light candles every day. You can talk to them by just talking with them, sort of like how a christian would say a prayer.
Working with them- that depends on who you ask. I've been a witch since 1997, in my experience, you can ask your chosen deity to assist your working or give any other support.
