I have the Porter 30. All the features at the front are great, I love how safe this pack is once you close the side straps. However, this a very uncomfortable bag, you really don’t want to carry it for more than an hour, the back doesn’t have a lot of support. It hurt my back twice during my travels.

How is it as a carry-on item? I assume it fits in the storage bin, but what about under your seat?

I’m having trouble choosing between backpack or wheeled bag.

It would seem the back system on this is only really designed for the 20-30 minutes trip between the transport and the accommodation, and the trip back.. whereas the Farpoint/Fairview series are designed for much longer periods. Depends on your planned use and the weight penalty of the better harness on the Farpoint/Fairview series.

If only they'd just improve the straps and hip straps to the level of the atmos and others this would be the perfect backpack...

Yea, something I've noticed with Osprey, each pack has features that are great, but missing key features that everyone wants, making it virtually impossible to choose a pack from them since you're always forced to compromise, when it seems like it would be relatively easy for Osprey to just make a pack that covers everything customers actually want
