You have SUCH good facial expressions. I'm having such a good time watching this. And I think that the choice for singing " Writing" and "Revelator" like: "Wriding" and "Revelador" was SPOT ON, it helps bring out the Gospel in the song.
This is really great. My former high school choir director saw this performance and she contacted the director of this choir to congratulate her on the good job she did with the choir. My old high school director has chosen this song as the showpiece song for her Advanced Choir this school year. They are performing it this week at a competition for a cash prize if they rank first. I'll write back with hopefully a positive update. Great job!
Whatever to the haters, you guys did an amazing job! There was an awesome energy when you guys were performing. That's not common. Most choirs look like they're going to their burial service or something. You guys perfectly executed this song! I can understand every word and I hope to see more videos of you! Keep it up!
Pretty good. I liked the speed and the clapping was the best i've heard. It would have been cool if you had soloists like the TMEA All-State Choir 05 during the "tell us what he's writtin'" part to keep it alive. Other than that . . LOVED it. :D
This is amazing! Tone, dynamics, everything! WONDERFUL job. I'm in my high school's chamber choir and we learned the entire piece today....still need to go through weeks of polishing it, and even more for it to match your standards. Awesome!
This is AMAZING!! My choir is doing this now and I was trying to find one that I could sing and practice with and this is DEFINITELY it!! you guys were dead on.
this is really amazing. my choir sucked so hard when we did this, and we did it much slower than y'all did. love listening to this song done right, cuz it's actually a good one...
Really nice performance. It's always so funny to me to watch performances of this song. No matter what choir is doing it or who is conducting, the group ALWAYS speeds up towards the middle. It makes me laugh every time (and makes me feel better for my choir doing the same thing when we performed the song).
You all should check out the TMEA All State Mixed Choir perform this piece from back in Spring 2005...it was amazing. This is an outstanding performance of the piece, however it doesn't compare to that of an All-State ensemble. But it shouldn't be able to compare either since it is just a local high school after all...lol...And YES, the TMEA All State Choir is the single most competitive and prestigous High School ensemble in the Nation, check the stats...But Anyways, Great Group Here...;)
Wow, this is really good. My choir is doing this song right now, but we do not quite have the percision as this choir does but we are getting there. This choir could take it to the next level by actually moving around and showing more expression on their faces. But still good:)
This version has caught the eye of guitarist-tootsie-roll-lover Steve Vai MusicRadar interviewed him at NAMM 2011 where he directly referenced this performance
haha not to sound like an ass or anything... but saying 'the last note was flat' is VERY vague considering it is a stacked A minor chord with funky voicing. I personally didnt hear any flat notes. Comparing each pitch to the tonic bass note on the Piano...its sounded fine.
ruined?? this is one of the best performances of this piece on RUclips! I just wish they would have put the solos in there. I know they're not on the score, but it's just one of those understood things...
Enjoyed seeing and hearing this rendition of a great piece sung well. The Frostburg State University Chamber Choir (MD) also performed this and believe me, it ain't easy! The CP took it at a faster clip than we did--kudos to that rockin' pianist. I think the intent expressions mentioned below were probably due to the choristers concentrating hard on the music. Rhythms were good and the last note didn't sound out to me--it's a dissonant chord. Congrats on the award!
Sorry, I meant to agree with markymarkstyle. The soprano note was flat at the end. I'm singing this song in chorus too and I sing soprano so that's probably why I'm a bit more judgemental about it =P
Somewhat fast, and the "Wri-" syllable of "Writing" in the beginning would have sounded better if they were accentuated more (In order to bring out the Blues feeling of this song); Other than that, this was an absoultely phenomenal performance.
LOL not true. We did not recruit. I was in Counter Points. North Central is just a massive school with over 3,000 kids. Of course you're going to find talent in a bigger school.
LMAO! wow well its perfectly fine if they think u look like robots, because u are AMAZING singers! i mean that. People are gonna find something to hate on, dont worry about it. you guys are great.
Musically very good, but what is with all the smug, vacuous smiles on everyone's faces? I'm all for getting rid of the tradition of the blank, this-is-me-singing expression on high school choir members, but this is almost worse because it's so out of place. It just makes it seem like you spent so much time on the musical aspects of the performance that you completely ignored the textual elements. You are talking about prophecies of Armageddon, after all.
Far far far too fast. Technique over all is solid, hwoever I see a lack of power behind the voices and the lines have minimal growth. Oh sure sure...you have growth in the easier lines, but where is the consistency? Sorry, it just doesn't excite me. Solid work..but to call it excellent would be overstating it, b/c I feel you could do sooooo much better.

And then the pianist burst into flames.

Just wonderful. And glad to see a choir that actually smiles!!

lol it’s been 10 years ! i hope it went well :)
Man this was impressive.
though it wasnt written to be sing that fast, you guys rocked it. much love.
This is outstanding. You made the faster tempo work for you.
That soprano.....
i'm supposed to being singing this with my school choir for district assessment........ -gulp-
paris carr lol same, my teacher says that he's going to drain us by the time he's done with us XD
Amorphous Artist That sounds wrong.
I love these altos!
OMG! I remember being in CP singing this! In 2004!! GO CP!!!
THAT. was perfection.

awesome job
This is what happens when we let people master their craft.
Pretty good.
I liked the speed and the clapping was the best i've heard.

:D
tough ending for those sopranos in those final notes.
OUTSTANDING!! I am floored by your attention to dynamics. This performance is actually exciting!! Great work! Extremely clean!

an amazing high school choir.. PERIOD..
Wow! Really, really nice. One of the best sounding groups on this piece on RUclips.
OMG!!!! that was so awsome!!!!!
my chior is gonna do this song for our spring concert this year!
yall were on point wit them claps!!
great job
Man I did this at Arrowbear and I was dancing while singing. :) haha How can y'all be so still?!!!!! This was soooooo much fun!
they are amazinggg.
lmao I liked that tenor in the back doing the dance.
You are absolutely right!!
I am impressed with the clapping!!!! To me that was the hardest part of this piece.

Fantastic job! My choir did this too! It is such fun to sing.
awesome.
Very nice. Good goosebump moment at 1:10, coming from a low bass.. :)
I can honestly say... I'm in love.
haha not to sound like an ass or anything... but saying 'the last note was flat' is VERY vague considering it is a stacked A minor chord with funky voicing. I personally didnt hear any flat notes. Comparing each pitch to the tonic bass note on the Piano...its sounded fine.
Let's hear it for the piano player, too! Great!
ruined?? this is one of the best performances of this piece on RUclips! I just wish they would have put the solos in there. I know they're not on the score, but it's just one of those understood things...
ooo. i get goose bumps. :D

Holy crap... i remember doing this for All-State my.... sophomore or junior year, in Iowa. i really didn't like the song, but it's fun to perform.
That accompanist is working it out!
that was his freshman year too =)
John The Revelator
Paul Caldwell/ Sean Ivory
My school is singing this (:

@Victorian9322 so are/ were they when they did this
North Central is the best choir in the state because they recruit
LOL not true. We did not recruit. I was in Counter Points. North Central is just a massive school with over 3,000 kids. Of course you're going to find talent in a bigger school.
LMAO! wow well its perfectly fine if they think u look like robots, because u are AMAZING singers! i mean that. People are gonna find something to hate on, dont worry about it. you guys are great.
Where I can find these arragement?

We just sang this! It wasn't nearly as good as yours. But hey, we're high schoolers.
So are they! :)
@@302foundd lol thanks for letting me know.
curt stigers kicked your butt. Way to turn a great song into a southern baptist joke.
well most of the people in my choir sucked. lol
i hate robots
Nope

"that" and "writing" are too flat
its gay
Diction needed a little inprovement.

Wow. No offense but White Station sounds much better. It should not have been this fast...
way to ruin a great song
