A few tips for your base block of wood . First, remove the bark . As the wood loses moisture, it will shrink, and the bark will loosen and so will to initial coil . Next , sand it and seal it with either an oil and wax polish or sanding sealer like Zinser Seal Coat . It will give you a nice smooth , golden finish that you can add either a painted detail , or before you apply finish , you can do either pen style pyrography , or laser , then apply finish

Excellent video! I studied with a lady in the 80s who I would consider the master of coil pine needle Basketry. You have met all the points that she stressed in this video. Lucky people to have videos to watch as they learn now. Personally, I love waxed linen.

This is a fantastic tutorial! I've done pine needle basket weaving. I wish I'd had this excellent teaching. Especially the clear description of how to start the sides. You are a treasure! Thank you!

Thank you Ma'am, I stumbled across your tutorial by accident and I am amazed at what can be done with pine needles 😁. I'm off to cut and drill a wooden base and watch more of your videos. Again many thanks for the clear instructions and the inspiration 🙏😁

A very clean tutorial video . I don't know if using a surgeons knot when you splice in more thread would be a stronger knot

Hi friend! I did a pine needle basket series awhile back and people complained that they couldn't see the stitching in my tutorial because there wasn't enough contrast. This video replaced that tutorial. I'm working on a pine needle basket online workshop though😁
