    So that Dirac Delta blacked out like in this video is extremely rare. I have searched for one in vain for a long time, easily over 18 months. But! I bringeth news of great joy lol, Bladehq got in a batch of like, 3 of them a few days ago and when I saw online that it said “In stock” my eyes got all huge and I _immediately_ scrambled to buy it as fast as I could cuz I knew time was not on my side lol.
    Huge sigh of relief followed by robust outbursts of cheering broke out upon receiving a confirmation email that I got it n, God willing, will be showing up Monday. So super happy Christmas for meee lol. Can’t wait to get it n fondle it haha. I have other very nice knives I use for edc (the all-titanium version of the Splint by Olight is my primary current. Fantastic carry knife) so, I think the Dirac Delta I’m gunna leave in pristine, unused condition for a good long while lol
    So, just finished up all my Christmas wrapping at *looks at the clock* oh Lord 3:50am I’m gunna be a zombie tomorrow lol, but Merry Christmas everybody! Great video btw had it running while I wrapped stuff 👍🏼😁

    Can not speak for the Microtech, but I have been carrying the Benchmade Infidel for almost 8 years now. Not once, in all that time, has it ever failed to extend or retract properly - and I am guessing that entails well over 1000 applications. 8 years and the blade is still solid & "wobble" free. Only problem ever encountered, after about 5 years, was a stiffness in the actuating "button." Injected a fine lubricating oil into the handle and the problem was solved. As for Microtech, I have heard many good things about them and am pretty sure that they are fine knives. For now, I am going to stick with my Infidel.

      If you only opened the knife 3 times a day for those 8 years that would roughly be 8k-9k applications

    I am not a fan of the materials like D2 and the newer Benchmades have plastic - but the warranty is exceptional so you can’t go wrong. I have 17 Microtech’s and love them!

    Over the years, I've come to value my Microtechs more than my Benchmades. Right now, I have an Infidel that I bought about a year ago(bought two actually. Gave one to a friend). The retraction is sloppy and the blade is wobbly when extended. Both Benchmade's have this issue now under normal EDC use. I've only had that issue once with a Microtech and I've owned about 10 to date. I love my Infidel, though. I'm going to have to send it in for maintenance to fix the wobble and sloppy retraction issue.

    The inner workings of these knives is what matters most the microtech has a strong spring tht is always at rest only under tension while firing or retracting which means long life for the action of the knife. The steel is superior also...

    Very good video comparison. Good to see that the Microtech Delta is built better inside than Benchmade. The blade spring works better on the Microtech by offering a much better security deployment especially if carried in the pocket. It requires more pressure to open.
    The design of the Dirac is also a lot more elegant and I love the slick texture of the handle. Is more premium.
    I would definitely go for the Dirac.

    Benchmade makes good knives, but Microtech wrote the book on OTF"s and the Microtech has much better steel in the blade. Hard to believe Benchmade used D2 in the Infidel.

    • @wyatthart2743
      @wyatthart2743 Год назад +1

      I asked a Benchmade employee why such an expensive knife had D2. It's because they have a government contract thats been ongoing since the Infidel was first created. It had to go through an approval process, and apparently if they changed anything about the knife, including the steel, it would have to go through the beurocratic system all over again. There are basically a bunch of federal agents walking around with Infidels.

    • @eric_in_florida
      @eric_in_florida Год назад

      I have a Benchmade Infidel dagger blade and D2 is perfectly fine for what it is - a self defense knife. If I was cutting cardboard all day then I would go with a better steel and a single edge blade.

    I own and have been learning and researching OTF's for many years now. I'm a knife enthusiast who owns for just Microtechs: Halo V, Halo VI, Combat Troodon, and Dirac NOT the Dirac Delta which is in this video. My Dirac is just a smaller version. I can personally and back up my claim, that Microtech OTF's will be better quality and machined with every inner part, better than the Benchmade OTF's. It is up to you obviously, and do whatever the hell makes you happy. Love Benchmade as a company and I think they are one of the best big 4 knife makers. Microtech - Benchmade - Spyderco - Pro-Tech.

    • @jeromebullard6123
      @jeromebullard6123 Год назад +1

      I own both of these knives. The microtech is prettier. I EDC the Benchmade because it’s better for grip and it’s a solid action whereas the microtech can’t handle even the slightest bit of dirt before it fails to deploy or retract. All OTF’s are like that I guess, but the infidel handles dirt better. Probably because the tolerances aren’t as right as the microtech. Out of the box, the microtech wins. In the field, it’s the infidel hands down.

    I have the dirac delta in black with bronze hardware and blade. I love it. I do not like Benchmade infidel for these reasons 1. Groove down center of blade looks like cock and nuts
    2. inferior blade steel for the price point
    3. Lots of people report problems like wobbly blade after moderate use
    4. It seems to me like Benchmade doesn't want the average person to own auto knives (if you send it in for repair and can't provide evidence that you are some sort of first responder or military they WILL NOT ship the knife back to you. they claim for legal reasons but if it is legal to own in your state I cannot understand why they wouldn't ship it back to you unless they don't believe you have the right to own it in the first place.)

Im very biased now. i dont see how benchmade charges what they do still. Its a great knife for 250-300. sharpness. if your enough of a knife guy to buy either of these you know how to make a knife scary sharp. The microtech is the better knife. If I'm going to intentionally cause people damage with a cutting tool, I'm grabbing my Milwaukee M18 Sawzall or Hackzall, not a pocket knife.

    Microtech really missed the mark on the handle design. I HATE that they make such crappy handles. Who wants a smooth slippery handle on a knife unless all you care about is being cute? Again; converted to Microtech from Benchmade and still can recommend it to people as a quality knife. • @Cenobite1
      @Cenobite1 2 года назад

      Well I believe I have, talking about the difference in Benchmade being a production knife but I'll elaborate; with a little Google-foo, you'd find report after report of Infidel owners (including myself) stating it has issues including spring failures and reliability issues. Issues including when held upside down the blade does not retract after light to moderate use, blades failing to lock once retracted, and looseness among other issues. Benchmade does have better customer service than Microtech according to some but Microtech users rarely need to be reliant on repair services. I personally know 2 law enforcement officers that whilst loving their Benchmade OTFs, refuse to carry them on duty. That is not even taking into account my own issues. Microtech is not without it's issues but have far fewer need for warranty repairs, more reliable deployment, and wear better (except their finishes). I own Benchmades and will continue to, but Microtech has the edge (pun intended) when it comes to OTFs. I'm not trying to give anyone buyers remorse, but a production knife like I previously stated, won't usually out do a semi-custom knife, and neither will usually out perform a quality full-custom knife.
