Hiya! I placed the strap inside the lining close to the front of the pouch- it basically is a tiny bit more forward than where the side seams are- it will look just like a tote bag when flipped right side out! Hope that helps!

Great Video! Thank you! Is there any way you could make a video for the Karmell hanging bag that's on the Rescue Craft Co site? You explain and show things so well. I cannot figure out the stretch cotton part that goes around the hole of cut out circle, and where to overlock. I have 10 cut out and ready to sew but cant get past this one part. 😪 thx!!!!

I'll see what I can come up with!! :) The thing that confuses me about that one is that they ask for no overlocked edges, but then this pattern has overlocked edges right where the animals jump in and out - that doesn't make sense to me - so I have been trying to think of a way to do it with no overlocking.....
Great video! Thank you.... I'm ready to sew. What are the clips you used instead of pins to hold the liner and bag together? I need to get those... I'm tired of poking holes in my fingers with straight pins! :) Also, do you know a link to find the shipping address(es) for the pouches to Austrailia? I have not had much luck in finding the where to send when done. Cheers!

Hiya! For this specific pattern they ask for 100% cotton jersey knit. If you make the 3D hanging pouches u can use 100% cotton flannel! Maybe give them a try? :) Thanks! HAPPY SEWING! :)
Hiya! I'm not quite sure I know which bag you are talking about? Do you know where I can see an example so I can see if I can find a pattern? These were the ones that were on the website last year with all the official patterns and I'm not quite sure I've seen the one you are talking about - hope I can help you! Have a good day!
Sure! I would use the night pattern, make 2 straps and then just assemble it like you would a tote bag by lining up the straps in either side of the body of the bag instead of at the seam. Just an FYI they probably wouldn’t be able to accept them for use for the animals, but it would make a cute bag for you to use! 😊 HAPPY SEWING!
For this pattern specifically they ask for 100% sturdy cotton for the outer and and 100% jersey knit cotton for the lining. No fleece as it's a synthetic fabric and most carers can't use it! THAKS! :)
Haha- I honestly don’t know much about duck cloth other than it is sometimes used for furniture- as long as it’s 100% cotton I’d say go for it- if in doubt I wouldn’t use it. I used quilting cotton for mine- they just don’t want like a jersey knit for the outer. Hope that helps!! 💗😊🦘 thanks for caring and HAPPY SEWING!
Hi, everyone, So great you can help. Places to send the bags to are on this website. www.rescuedpets.com.au/drop-off-locations. So some are vet clinics and the locations are in Australia. Thanks so much for your assistance in trying to save the Australian wildlife and get on board. I may get one or 2 sewn as well..
There seems to be some confusion as to the size of paper that the pattern is printed on. Could you tell me the measurement of the width of the wallaby day pouch and the length from where the straps are attached to the bottom of the pouch (either cm or inches are ok). I printed the pattern on regular typing paper and am not sure if the dimensions are the same. Thanks.
Hiya! The pattern is about 16” high by almost 17” for wallaby and 19” high x 18” wide for kangaroo! I know some people were saying that the patterns weren’t printing correctly - I hope that helps!!! 😊💗🦘
@@ScrappyStitch thank you! The pattern that I printed on the regular 81/2 x 11” paper measures the same....17” across and 16” high! Now I will continue sewing them together.

Dear all, this is a great video, but PLEASE do not put your animals in the bags, as the Australian customs has recently issued an alert that any products with animals hairs (yes, pet hairs) will be considered contaminated, and the entire bag of contents will have to be discarded. What has been recommended is to WASH and dry all completed products, then run a lint roller over all surfaces to remove any furs or dirt, then label the item(s) and seal them in a plastic bag. This will ensure your item(s) passes through customs and won't be discarded! All the best!
Hello! Yes the items have to be clean, but if they find a hair or 2 they will not have to discard it- this has been confirmed by Australian customs and the Australian rescue groups. They wash the items when they receive them as well. That was an over exaggeration of the rules that some people misinterpreted- yes they are strict, but they just don’t want the entire item to be coated in pet hair- I have sent over shipments since I have been following this in Nov and it has been fine. That is why some global groups have said they are not discussing this anymore. Everyone just wants what’s best for the animals - It’s all good! 😊 thanks for caring!!
Hiya!! Go here to print the pattern - www.longgrassnaturerefuge.com.au/joeybags.html It’s also in the video description and the pinned comment in case u can’t find where this comment is later on! HAPPY SEWING! 💗
To make ppl laugh and because this happens every few yrs - I spoke w the rescues and told them I was making a video to tell ppl not to make them- but it will also be a tutorial for when it inevitably happens again. Rescue Craft Co and kangaroo island are still accepting physical donated items (but not mittens) I explain in the video this happens often and koala mittens are always the first thing they get too many of. I feel bad for the admins in the rescues who have to keep explaining the same thing over and over. My videos aren’t for everyone and that’s ok 😊 take care!🐨🦘

hiya! thanks so much for helping out!! :) you can check out the Animal Rescue Craft Guild and Rescue Craft Co on FB - there are more references for the patterns, info for where to send the finished items - and other super friendly crafters all working towards the same cause! It depends on where you live where you will send the items (in Australia vs outside Australia) Hope that helps! :) HAPPY SEWING!
Can I use flannel for the inner section of the pouch?
Hiya! For this specific pattern they ask for 100% cotton jersey knit. If you make the 3D hanging pouches u can use 100% cotton flannel! Maybe give them a try? :) Thanks! HAPPY SEWING! :)
Can you make these out of a sweater kind of material ? I have a few meters of sweater kind of fabric. I would love you make a few
I wouldn't - they only want 100% cotton for this type of pouch! Thanks for checking!
@@ScrappyStitch thank you, i will get some cotton !
Thank u for caring! 😊🦘🐨
The link..I can't seem to find it here..the one to make the day time pouch.
Is there any link for the pattern that can be printed with another size paper like the letter one (8 by 11) my printer only does that paper. Thank you
The link above prints to letter size paper! Then you have to tape the pieces together 😊
Hi i was wondering if you can make those bags with cross straps in the back for 1 bag?.
Hiya! I'm not quite sure I know which bag you are talking about? Do you know where I can see an example so I can see if I can find a pattern? These were the ones that were on the website last year with all the official patterns and I'm not quite sure I've seen the one you are talking about - hope I can help you! Have a good day!
Both bags you made is there a way to put 2 straps on the bags?
Also what type of material would be good for them? Something warm like fleece? Or just any type?
:)
For this pattern specifically they ask for 100% sturdy cotton for the outer and and 100% jersey knit cotton for the lining. No fleece as it's a synthetic fabric and most carers can't use it! THAKS! :)
Is duck cloth a good outer material? I saw the word Duck somewhere and I thought that's what the Aussi's meant. So just a durable 100% cotton will do?
Haha- I honestly don’t know much about duck cloth other than it is sometimes used for furniture- as long as it’s 100% cotton I’d say go for it- if in doubt I wouldn’t use it. I used quilting cotton for mine- they just don’t want like a jersey knit for the outer. Hope that helps!! 💗😊🦘 thanks for caring and HAPPY SEWING!
Hi, everyone,
So great you can help.
Excellent!!! 💗 happy sewing!!! I will add these measurements to the description of the video - thanks for your question! 💗🦘
Can I use sheets that are 50% cotton & 50% polyester?
Hiya! only 100% cotton for these! :) thanks!
Thank you! Just in case it hasn't been mentioned all of our marsupial babies are "Joeys" and even though they are sized Wallaby and Kangaroo they are used by many other types of joeys, including wallaroos. Here is a link to join the Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild for this and other patterns facebook.com/groups/arfsncrafts/
yes that is such a wonderful group isn't it? I was just kidding about the Wallaroo sizing - that's why I said they need to share. HA! As an American I had never heard about Wallaroos until recently! Too cute! :)
Im in Washington state.. Tacoma to be exact...where do I take it to ship it and what is an address?

I’m doing something wrong. I don’t see the measurements. When I try to access the “description above” I am touching the space above which is your site name. That takes me to a page with all your videos. I want to do this correctly, but I’ve been unable to find the approved pattern. Help!
Hiya!! Click the SHOW MORE if on a computer or the tiny down arrow on the rt side of the screen by the title If on a phone - there will have the measurements as well as a link for the pattern! Thanks for caring!!! 😊🦘🐨 HAPPY SEWING!!
I have an iPad. The “show more” is not here. I got it from the link you provided to another person. No worries. Half way to completing my first pouch! Thank you.
Great!!! HAPPY SEWING!!

Where do I send these once I finish making them?

Sorry were is the pattern
Hiya!! Go here to print the pattern - www.longgrassnaturerefuge.com.au/joeybags.html
It’s also in the video description and the pinned comment in case u can’t find where this comment is later on! HAPPY SEWING! 💗
Thank you

Haha- thanks- I’ll never remember 🤣 I’m so horrible at math! I’ll just make Siri do it for me 🤣🤣😊🦘🐨
💜🙏🙏🙏Love U All 🙏🙏🙏💜
:)
7:45 me everytime 🤦
HAHAHA!! I KNOW - I LOVE that they are reusable, but it's sooo annoying to have to keep winding them up!!
They have more than plenty and are asking for everyone to stop sending items. Cash donations are much more useful
Yup- haha- that was the point of this video- I say several times they don’t need any more! 😊
@@ScrappyStitch Then why post a how-to for something neither needed or wanted?
To make ppl laugh and because this happens every few yrs - I spoke w the rescues and told them I was making a video to tell ppl not to make them- but it will also be a tutorial for when it inevitably happens again. Rescue Craft Co and kangaroo island are still accepting physical donated items (but not mittens) I explain in the video this happens often and koala mittens are always the first thing they get too many of. I feel bad for the admins in the rescues who have to keep explaining the same thing over and over. My videos aren’t for everyone and that’s ok 😊 take care!🐨🦘
