New lead is not a great problem , Old oxidised lead is more readily absorbed although it’s excreted slowly so if care is taken it’s usually OK. The red lead in the sealant is however very harmful.
i often say put me in a medieval glass studio and i would be able to be useful, and vice versa give me a medieval glass artisan and (he) would feel at home. not much has changed, its all still recognisable. I must saythough, i am so glad we have colours now it must hav been a bit boring just doing black white and grey in those days
Terrible. Ive been a glazier for 15 years. I studied in a few different studios, worked for the church. In my short time in the business it has changed a lot. Many more safety precautions that make doing this job much more safe!
Amazing image quality . Those archives are priceless. As much as the fantastic work these artisans were doing .
What an incredible and impressive process, the finished stained glass window is beautiful and inspired ☺
Wow! Fantastic!
So much work, but it lasts forever, I guess.
I can smell the putty from here though, such a strong smell.
Super interesting, really wish it were in color.
WOW, most impressive!

As fascinating as my books on Amazon and Lulu.

I wonder what health concerns there are with handling raw lead like that...
