Something I haven't seen others commenting on yet is just how tightly written/composed this song is, for being nearly 11 minutes long. Prog is often (fairly) criticized for being full of "musical masturbation": loads of indulgent solos that are there just to show off the instrumentalists' technical chops. But this song, despite being technically challenging and complex, isn't like that at all--everything is in service of the emotional story being told. There
