If you are reading this, that means most likely you watched the video and made it into the comments section. So thank you! These mini series Master Class videos are a lot more work then normal videos. Because of the extra time and resources needed to make them, there is no chance they could break even lol. So they are my gift to you! 🙌 thank you for sticking around!!
Fantastic stuff Mikey, Already watched it twice and can't wait for what you do next. Love the DC-3's especially DTD :) Can't wait to see her again in your video's
Mikey you know what this channel has done for me ...and have supported your efforts from day 1 i travelled i saw & believed love your family and you too bud! Appreciate this excellent quality production as of late ...Luv&Peace and to my buddy Joe! We may just come lol the Irish way ,,"ahhh the devil mend me" lol be safe!✌
Love it! Love it! Love it! Joe: "It's like goin' out on a date. You gotta check everything out before you sit down at the table..." I'll remember that next time I check out our Cherokee...!
I've been enamoured with the DC-3 every since I saw (as a child) the Bugs Bunny cartoon with "the gremlin," (The Falling Hare, 1943). Came to learn later as an adult that this plane had, up to that era, was the most successful, safest, most sturdy and reliable plane ever designed, and one of the leading factors in the success and victory of the United States in WWII. Like a Cadillac, you can't kill a DC-3 unless you neglect it. The mere silhouette of a DC-3 speaks to me and I think I could spot one in the air at one mile but this is such a rare treat.
Put this on Netflix Mikey. You deserve credit and to be paid for your efforts. Netflix has nothing as good as this! Nice work with the cinematography and production!
Joe to potential employee: “You want to work for me? Get a uniform! We wear a t-shirt under a button-up shirt . . . but do not do up the button-up shirt or you will be fired!” 😁
Most excellent Joe and Mikey! What a different world this would be if everyone loved their job and had a passion for it that Joe does, especially for over 50 years! Joe's way of teaching with analogies not only reinforces the information, but it also puts a smile on your face. Knowing Joe's high standards and expectations in the cockpit, his way of explaining things seems to provide a perfect balance between the fun of flying and the expectation that a student master every detail of piloting the aircraft. Ole Billy Robert's 'government name' is actually Mikey too, so from one Mikey to another, "This Mikey Likes it (a lot!)."
I've always loved the DC 3, thanks to these wonderful folks , I have experienced the Goonie Bird better than I can in my life . Thank you Joe, Mikey you especially because I know you put this stuff here , and all your family.
Amazingly put together from the music to the camera angles. I never thought Joe would do videos like this after he has been asked many times on livestream and now it is happening. Cannot wait to the storh to continue. Absolutely epic
I had a DC-3 fuel inspection valve stick open at a jungle airstrip in Brazil. We couldn't fix it with what we had. So I put my finger on it to stop the fuel flow until we could find a small enough tree branch twig to plug the opening and then waited for 5 hours until one our mechanics flew in to fix it. The bleed valve pintle was badly oxidized from water corrosion. You just never know what is going to break or happen in the outback.. I remember thinking if we had not had the leak on the ground but up in the air, how fast fuel would have siphoned out of tank.
Great stuff.... reminds me of circle checks I made every time before I drove 18 wheelers anywhere....so important.... always made it home safely.... this is going to be a fab series.... THANKS, Joe, Mikey and everyone at Buffalo
Excellent Mikey, Joe (Dad) is in his element here. Thanks to all at Buffalo in keeping things going. Hopefully wont be too long before things return to some normality. We should have been with you at Buffalo this week but due to the ongoing health risks of course we had to cancel... Once again Mikey many thanks for the excellent work. Keep healthy. Regards to all from the UK 🇬🇧
I'm sure Buffalo Joe has done that walk around 1000X and yet he still seems to treat it like it's his very first time. It's always great to see a professional at work.
When I got to go flying with a friend we done a walk around and I enjoy doing it, and I got to know the plane better, he always said if we have trouble up there we don't have a cloud hook to hang on to to wait for a tow truck LOL,
Mikey, you really should call this series "Song For My Father," after the classic jazz tune by the great Horace Silver. This is a wonderful tribute to your Dad as well as a "Master Class" for the rest of us. I'm loving this so far - I hope there are several more parts in the pipeline. I wish I could come up to Yellowknife and start in as a ramp rat or sweeping the hangar or whatever. Right now, I'm tied up here right now - but I keep hoping. I'd love to try the CL-215, even as a ride-along, as well as the DC-3. Thanks again, Mikey.
Great stuff! Packed with interesting info, and very impressive editing! Straight to the point without unnecessary cross-cutting, and leave the viewers wanting more at the end :)
I just found this channel and this mini series, and man do I love it. This place is just aviation heaven and I'm very happy to see a masterclass on one of my favourite aircraft!
Great informative video. Your dad is so comfortable with his airplane....it's a respected old friend every time he comes out to fly it. It's a beautiful relationship.
Outstanding Mikey, this is some really great work. Your father is a natural. His passion for flying really comes through in these productions. Thank you for doing this, it brings great enjoyment to all of us.
Qualified as an aircraft fitter on the DC4 & got my competencies on the DC3 also. I was in the South African Air Force, who was the biggest operator of DC3 aircraft in the world at the time (1983 to 1989).
Great series! Looking forward to the next episode. Really brings back memories from the mid-60's when I worked for Zantop. We had one lonely DC3--620Z. Think it was from the beginnings of ZAT.

When Joe talks (business) you listen :) Thanks Mikey! I hope one day to fly with you guys. I love the DC3.
The man himself teaching the DC3 Master class. Love it!

This is a great series you've started here, Mikey! Extremely well done, too, I might add! Fantastic!! 👍🍻
Can you imagine the modern Airbus 380 and the 747 have been taken out of service and yet the old DC3 keeps on ticking. Amazing.
Good Ole Buffalo Joe! A living Legend!
The DC-3 has been around for twice my age plus a couple of years. It still is one of my favorite planes ever. Big, sturdy, manual.
love your dad he is so awesome

Pilot and DC3, one soul flying
Joe to potential employee: “You want to work for me? Get a uniform! We wear a t-shirt under a button-up shirt . . . but do not do up the button-up shirt or you will be fired!” 😁
That's really funny, I really laughed out loud lol

Awesome guys. Loved the format. Who needs discovery channel when we have you!
Awesome Mikey. Every time I hear a radial start it sends a shiver down my spine, especially on a DC-3. ☺️☺️
The voice of a master.
And don't forget to sniff what was in the sump, make sure it's not straight water.
I have had that happen!
Terrific to see Joe giving the advice.
I've always loved the DC 3, thanks to these wonderful folks , I have experienced the Goonie Bird better than I can in my life .
Thank you Joe, Mikey you especially because I know you put this stuff here , and all your family.
Excellent video bro you are so lucky to have Joe as your dad. Stay safe up there guys
Loved every minute of this great explanation on all aspects of checks required, in particular the positioning of propeller blades.
Great job Mikey and all those who helped produce this DC-3 Master Class! Just awesome!
Amazingly put together from the music to the camera angles.
I never thought Joe would do videos like this after he has been asked many times on livestream and now it is happening. Cannot wait to the storh to continue. Absolutely epic
Great to see Joe still flying. Im looking forward to this series.
Love it, Mikey! I miss the sound of radials. We used to have a Beech 18 freighter that flew over the house every night about 21:30.
Who else noticed Basler BT 67 at 3:30?
Delta Oscar Uniform Buffalo lease one often during the summer. I wonder if Joe has a type rating??
I caught it on Flightaware last night about 20 minutes out of Yellowknife. 😁
I was drooling over the Beaver being towed
Heck yeah. Glad you're doing this now. None of us are getting any younger and Mr. Joe is a wealth of knowledge! Thanks for sharing him!!
Tim McCoy here wife's account. I'm partial to any
Douglas propliner. My time was in DC 6/7's . Buffalo Joe is great. I'd fly with him any time.

A true master of his art that only comes after 50+ years.

So interesting listening to your dad he has a very sensible and practical approach to everything
Absolutely fantastic to watch!
Thanks for posting this! I had a chance to tour the cockpit of a C-47 which had flown the Hump in WW2, and is now flying in WA State.
I'm sure Buffalo Joe has done that walk around 1000X and yet he still seems to treat it like it's his very first time. It's always great to see a professional at work.
Great series especially for those of us who will never fly ourselves. Fascinating.
Thank you Mikey and Joe for doing this.
