IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. Your aircraft. Your costs. Your responsibility. Your coordination. Your decision on how this aircraft gets flying. The last time I checked I don't believe you need permission on where you acquire parts or for what amount of money. The very fact you care enough to purchase and make this aircraft flyable is a testament to your love of aviation past and present. Kudos to your dad for his amazing wealth of knowledge and generosity. Along with your brother and uncle for their mechanical aptitude. I have never seen a group of people that love what they do more. Congrats thus far on all your hard work and effort in keeping a piece of our valuable history alive.

I love the fact that Joe sees the worth of keeping a military C-47 as original, to show how things were - not a good business plan, but a great plan from the heart and nostalgia.
So basically if it was ROD that needed to get ready it wouldn't be Plane Savers it would just be Plane...You can see the glint in Joe's eye when he is talking about these old planes and you can see how much he love's them.GREAT episode Mikey.
You are saving another bird, the others are already saved. Just because they dont fly today, they can and will. The bird you bought was going downhill, not anymore! We love the rescue.
Spot on Bruce! Those airplanes could have been beer cans decades ago without Buffalo and Joe. FZ668 now has a second chance at life thanks to first Benoit and now Mikey!
It runs in the family....Joe is also great at doing these...I very enjoy seeing him enjoying this stuff....a great man who does great things building a great country....history needs all the Joe's it can get!
Joes RCAF C-47 is a literal time warp, this unique machine deserves to be kept in this original historic state, just think of the navigators who learned their trade on this rare machine, the patina is precious and a wise thing that Joe had the insulation removed as this was a corrosion bag inside that fuselage. You can see that Stella is really enjoying the vintage aircraft experience at Red Deer, clambering over that wing and looking around that airplane,Ronnie has done a great job in getting those engine parts in place with all that new plumbing ready to install on DTD,all in all it has been one successful weekend and a first tick off the box towards getting the machine airworthy. Mikey your dad loves you and wants this project to be successful too,his kindness in allowing you to use parts shows the unique nature of this whole project, this is one very exciting journey for many people learning so much along the way about the way aircraft preservation works, for those who do not still understand about parts swopping on vintage aircraft this is the norm especially as you just cannot get bits off the shelf like a modern aircraft, you just keep these old aircraft airworthy by robbing Peter to pay Paul until one day you just run out of bits ! I was thinking of the weight of all that military interior on C-FROD and why it was removed for commercial operations. Have a safe return journey Mikey.
No offense to the Ice Pilots NWT crew but it is really cool to see and hear your Dad (and you and others) "raw and uncut" on Plane Savers. Glad to have found you. Always watched "Ice Pilots" because as an RCAF Navigator I did some arctic work in Lans, Daks, C119s and Arctic Trials on the Yukon when the Airforce had them, and could relate to the problems of operating in the north.
You need to convert one of your hangers into a museum to put this aircraft and others and maybe some of the old cars, another great episode 😀
Great episode Mikey! Yes, it all makes sense. Keep plugging away, and good luck from St. Louis, Missouri.
I think Joe should write a book - he has so much knowledge
