This is a great product, but you have to go in knowing its limitations and capacity. Once you don't expect more of it than it's capable of, AND know that it melts ice quickly, you should be satisfied. If you use chip ice or bag ice, know that it will melt quickly. To extend the life of the ice, one thing I recommend is to freeze big blocks of ice ---- such as using tupperware type storage container, or big butter bowls, etc. Anything that you could use as a mold to provide big blocks of ice. Put a bunch of those type blocks in there, and fill the gaps with bagged ice, and you could easily double your ice life. Another technique is to introduce "contained" ice in cleaned out milk jugs, IcyBlock, or anything similar. Add salt to the "contained" water, and they will help extend the ice life, too. But if all you use is bagged ice, you will go through ice quicker than you probably want to.
I did not buy this item to cool any areas or rooms, but for when I lose power during spring/summer storms in N Texas. I turned off my home AC, and just ran it blowing on me sitting in my chair as if I lost power. And I have to say it is perfect for this purpose. I don't expect something like this to cool a room, or RV space, I just want it to cool me, and I see having it as a plus...Thanks for the video though...
So the way I dealt with this I got the special bags with a water spout on one side so I fill the bags with the ice. And then I put some water in the cooler and then I buy an ice machine and I put it in the back of my truck and I let the ice machine run, then every couple hours I go and I pour the water from the bags back into the ice machine and I fill the bags back up with ice. It makes the ice last longer this way and you recycle the water
bought one of these to use just for some overnight sleeping in a van maybe one or two nights so will see how it goes. Sounds like it work fine for smaller amounts of time.
You are absolutely right it works as advertised. But I think people expect way too much from this. If your using this outside in the heat this thing is fighting the elements. Like running your car ac in the desert with the windows rolled down. As long as you understand the limitations of this ac in any other portable ac (such as ecoflow, zerobreeze) it works extremely well. i also would not use chipped ice alone because it melts too fast. I freeze water in big rubbermaid Tupperware along with something like a yeti ice block. It'll last so much longer. I wouldn't even spend the extra money to get the platinum and just go for the v2 because they do exactly the same thing. It's also alot cheaper.
One note. I just ordered the V2, they immediately popped up and provided a $50 off coupon to bump up to the platinum (same price). After watching this review, and reading the comments.... I am having second thoughts :(
I found an ac replacement instead of icybreeze they are designed for vans trucks semi trucks to sleep in and they use 12 v car batteries and use r-134a refrigerant search ac for car bus semi 12 volt it's a simple hook up a little cutting required and some skills. Roughly 10k - 12k BTUs. I've got it set to order it's around 550$-750$ depending on who you buy from and how many you get.
@@freestatehomestead the only function I can see for this machine is maybe if you want to sleep cool at night maybe you can put that discharge tube under a thin sheet and blow cold air upon you while you sleep
We’re returning Ours as well! I’m sorry, but the price point is way too high for what you get. $150 would be a stretch based on the performance but $450 is obscene. It burns through $20 worth of ice in about two hours on medium. We also bought the icy blocks which turned out to be a disaster. Even filling them up as instructed they would swell up on refreezing. This made it impossible to get three into the cooler. When using frozen blocks of ice in milk jugs, icy blocks, etc. it does not cool the air that’s being output as much as bag ice. Also, they recommend that you cover the blocks of ice with water which creates a disaster. The lid leaks severely in fact, one end of the lid appears to intentionally have a gap which I think is to draw in the air that it needs to then exhaust back out when you cover the blocks of ice with water the waters sloshes around and it gets everywhere inside your vehicle or anywhere else. I think it’s interesting design but it’s way over marketed and they are not realistic about setting expectations.
I was planing to get one for my small bedroom, but i guess i gotta keep looking for something else. i don't have a AC as an option. i can't find anything else :( thanks for the review
this will work for you!!! freeze the containers they sell or use square ice cream containers and put a styrofoam barrier 0ver ice inside i get 6 to 8 hours this way..then a quick swap with blocks frozen in freezer then another 6 or more hours..ac on 12 volts and you already run freezer...dont let big blocks melt all the way and your freezer will work very little extra...i also wired a 12 volt plug and battery maintainer to an old 12 volt battery to give me a way extended battery life when power goes off i totally love mine and am getting another

@@ethanroth1718 Yes, I think dry ice is something worth considering, but you have to be careful how much, and how you are using it. I don't think you could just fill it will dry ice, but maybe a certain amount, put in a certain way could do wonders at extending the life of the ice.
So what is your next plan to cool the LMTV. I bought a mep 531a and plan to run and extension cord to a portable are conditioner, but i have bed space and not sure about the exhaust hoses right now. but man it is hot in that truck. definitely insulation will help
The garage is another place that it can come in handy. I live in Florida, and the summers are sooo hot and humid. If I have to do something in the garage during the summer, it makes a perfect companion to make things more comfortable. A fan helps, but this is much more effective.
I have the same problem. I contacted Icybreeze and was only sent a video how to tighten it. I already did that before I contacted them and it still leaks.

Was planning on using this in my van to help me get through a southern summer without AC. Doesn’t sound good. Thanks for the video.
Seems to work good for me
$20 for ice you need to shop for more economical ice lol
Great to hear! Hard to do when you are driving across in a 5 ton army truck and truck stops are your best option. But yes.

Yes DoritosResidue, expectations is key. Too many people go in expecting way too much.
You should get an Ecoflow wave. You can power it off your trucks alternator
