- This is my homemade cerakoting, weapons coating oven. I used KG Gunkote, but most people will call it a cerakoting oven. so here it is. At this point I've done about 10 or 12 bakes as well as several test runs before I put it to work and it has done very well. I am pleased with it. cost was around $250 ish.
Please do a video explaining how you installed the hot plate element and wired it up.
Thanks for filming and posting your design, very helpful for build ideas!
Thank you!
Thanks for posting! Great ideas here.
Thank you
Very cool
Thank you
Show build i like to see how you connected the controller to the oven if possible this right here is a great idea!!!!
When I get time to slow down a little I will try to get a video done and get that posted for you.
I am not sure why the comments were turned off, I think the issue is resolved now... maybe.
I also spray KG, and have been using an electric smoker. Had to use the 180 additive on everything. Thank you for listing the components that you used!! In your amazon link for the relay there are 6 options, which one is right? Also can you explain the details of wiring it, and it's purpose please?
I will make a video explaining the wiring and post within the next day or so.
Do you have a vid on making the controller.
Nice build that’s exactly what I am looking to build. Can I ask what type of insulation you used?

This is what I used in the link
Do you still use this oven? If so how is it holding up?
Yes I still use it. Anywhere from three to four days a week it's running four to eight hours a day.
@@chaoticdesignstexas Thanks for your reply. Have you done any more upgrades to it? I’m in the middle of building one.
@@lionelblevins8312 I have a oven fan I've been wanting to put in there to circulate air, but haven't had enough down time to do it. I did purchase a double burner hotplate to put in as well, but haven't found the time for that either. The single burner has had no issues keeping up. I just figured the double burner would do better. I am doing some powder coating and the temp needs to be hotter is the reason why.
I'm wanting to put together something very similar. What is the box made of ? Let's start there ..
The box is made of 3/4 MDF
Are you still using this oven? How is it holding up?
Yes I am still using this oven and it is still working just fine for me.
how is the MFD holding on with the temperature? aren't you afraid that the MFD will ignite? i'm trying to build the same oven but im not sure about the MDF enclolsure
I have ran the oven for 8 hours at 325°F with no issues. The study information I gathered on MDF showed an an ignition point of 400°C which is 752°F. That MDF will never see that temperature especially with the insulation inside.
@@chaoticdesignstexas sounds good brother! I will give it a shot thanks for the information
Yes Sir! The mounting bolts that run through the top barely get warm. I can lay my hand on them. Just make sure to use a good wood glue and screws. I wouldn't suggest using gorilla glue or any type of expanding wood glue. Just regular wood glue would work perfectly.
Did you have to bypass the temperature control sensor in the hot plate when you wired this up? I'm thinking of going with a similar setup and using a double burner hot plate.
I took the hotplate apart and removed all of the components. Its wired straight to the element itself.
Here is the Amazon link to the temp controller

This is the amazon link to the solid state relay I used..

I’ve already got all my parts for the temp controller, I was also planning on wiring a fan in to make it more of a convection style box. Just didn’t know if I needed to bypass the thermostat on the hot plate, I’m going to go your route & just wire it directly. Thank you very much for the insight.
Yes Sir! I still need to put my fan in
What kind of insulation tape are you using on the door?
Also I assume the insulation is held in place by the grate screws? Thanks so much
I cut the insulation to fit snug and taped the seams with aluminum air conditioning duct tape. I have had no issues with it coming off.
The insulation doesn't have any screws in it
No worries about the wood getting hot?

Where did you get the insulation material?

This is the link directly where I purchased mine. I will say it shipped quickly and was not damaged on arrival.
Awesome, thank you for the response.
Yes Sir
