I actually recorded a segment talking about a dash cam but did not make the final edit. Many of you have asked about that, the PDR you have to start and stop, when I did the Vlog at Matt's house, the OWL CAM is perfect for Corvette as it is when you are driving , activates when someone walks by the car and all saved on the cloud . Thanks! I did not ever explore the overlays! Only recorded at the track in track mode or if I did use it off track still had it in track mode with all of the unneeded information in my recording.
Awesome. GM should pay you because you provide way more information than GM does when you spend $100,000 on a car!

Great video Rick, I wish there was a way to utilize PDR as a dash cam. To automatically start recording as soon as you turn the car on.

Thanks for another great information Vlog. Fantastic way to record a visit to the national parks. It would be great at Great Smokey or Zion National Parks where the scenery is every where and places to stop and view it are limited.

Cool, could function as a bit of a dash cam for security purposes for incidents like when you told us about how that guy out of jealousy backed up over someone's Corvette.

Great Vlog Rick, I have 2017 Grand Sport with the PDR and I’m using a 128gb sd card with no issues.

I'm using a Mac Pro, and I formatted the 128gb sd card with disk utility on the mac, MS-DOS (fat).
It's MS-DOS (fat32)
EH from Canada, Rick I know you've always been against ads in your RUclips videos but I know with me personally as long as it's not more than 15 seconds I'm not getting up out of my chair to go to my TV to skip it. I think most of your fans would love if you put commercials in if they knew you were using that RUclips revenue to buy your future C8. Keep up the great work Rick. 👏👍😆

It would be great if the PDR had an option to function like a dash cam. Turn on automatically when you start the car and just run in a continuous overwrite loop when the memory gets full. If you want that security like a dash cam with the PDR, you have to remember to start the PDR recording every time you start your car, and then delete the recordings at the end of the trip so the memory doesn't get full. All of the hardware is there to do this, it just requires GM to change the software. Maybe on the C8...

Great vlog Rick. I also use the PDR when I valet at a restaurant or event. Using valet mode locks the glove box and trunk under a 4 diget code and the PDR records what is happening with your Vette. Great insurance if your car is damaged or abused under valet control. Keep up the good work. Greyhound Rich

Just about anywhere, $20 or less up to 32GB Walmart, Best Buy, CVS, Walgreens - try it out and have fun!

The video shows that the weather is a "TRAIL" ONLY. Somehow, I think that it should be TRIAL Only. Maybe it was an early morning video!

Rick, I had been trying to figure out how to use the PDR in my 2016 Z06 and your video explained it perfectly. Only problem is, when I hit 'record', I get the message that there's no SD card, but there is. I've taken it out and re-inserted it several times with the same results. I'm going to order a different SD card and try again. Any suggestions on a particular card to use?
Rick, have you seen GM's "leaked" mid engine car keyfob? A YT site called Horse Power Obsessed has a short video and the keyfob has a Cadillac logo on the back of it. The picture of the fob is from Jalopnic. This has got the "it's a Cadillac" crowd in we told you so mode. However, the guy at the HPO yt channel is of the opnion that there will be BOTH a Cadillac mid engine and a Corvette mid engine car. And, other speculation is that this leaked pic is GM simply Trolling all the speculators. What's your take on this?
Thanks for the post, my video schedule already done or we would have mentioned it right away and I am actually doing some checking into it ,NOW, IF Caddy makes a mid engine car, #1 that shows you this is a volume car and the $169K crap others are talking about and #2, IMHO, this should ONLY be a Corvette, more on the Vlog later sir, thumbs up!
Do you have to manually turn on the recording each time? I you could set to record every time you drove the car it would act like a dash came for any unfortunate events on the road.

Plug the SD card into a computer with a SD card slot, or buy a USB SD card reader you can plug into any computer and then insert the SD card into that. Browse "My computer" and it will show up as a drive and you can copy them off to your computer and play them, and edit them.

YES, but you have to use a 3rd party software program to format the larger card to the Fat 32 file system for the PDR to recognize the larger card. Unfortunately Windows 10 can not perform this task. www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-general-discussion/4108840-sd-card-recommendation-for-pdr.html

Strange this topic comes up on this weekend of Remembrances in that I was just discussing with my fellow Corvette Club Members our first "memories" of our first Corvettes along with a whole lot of other memories. Anyway, may I ask as to whether or not you are considering new or used? Ultimately, it doesn't really matter, just buy one. You'll find the Corvette Community/Family is comprised of some amazing individuals. Also, I'm curious where you're from. I'm in Northwestern NJ. I only ask in that if you're within driving distance, we have some very nice "twisties" up here in the hills if you should ever like to experience them. Yes to the WWGO, WGA! And WLNOB, i.e., We Leave No One Behind!

Unrelated comment. I’m considering getting a Grandsport, but was absolutely in love with the Admiral blue color. Now discontinued and replaced with the Elkhart blue. What is your opinion of this new blue? To me it looks awfully close to Admiral blue. Any info will be appreciated.

What size can we use for PDR recording...in this older you limited to 32...can we increase size for the C8?
I'm guessing the rear facing camera cannot be tied into the pdr? Approx how many hours of video can be stored in the 32 GB memory cards?
