@@leiferikson1066 Most countries speak English as a 2nd language. While they may not all be fluent, like Bjergsen and other Danish players, the comparison isn't exactly the same.

@@CURichard2019 I didn't think people on RUclips were pedantic enough to make a "well ackshually" response to that. No, it's not exactly the same situation down to the subatomic particles. It's beside the point, because as you acknowledge, they're not all fluent, and most of them aren't even close.
Most high school students in the US study Spanish as a second language. Do you think they're ready to live in Mexico and communicate at a full-time job? No, most of them probably couldn't even order a taco. You can drill grammar exercises for four years, get all As, and still be useless when it comes to speaking a language. That's the norm when it comes to foreign language education in the US, even for Spanish which has thousands of cognates in common with English. Do you think English education in Korea is much better? That they had thousands of hours of speaking and listening practice with native English speakers and now they're ready to have fast-paced, complicated conversations after high school? Probably not.
Where? All I see is constant complaining about "imports". Just under this video, I see more comments of appreciation for APA dealing with the challenges of a language barrier than I've seen for all foreign players this year.

Must be super weird for APA; not understanding what your team's talking about more than half the time. Such a weird and probably uncomfortable position to be in as a rookie, doubly so when some of your teammates have visibly given up on you in the middle of a tournament, *after* you stepped up and help them get to where they are in the first place. Can't help but feel that he deserved a better environment. I hope he and Yeon have many more successful years ahead of them.

This is an assumption but I think a major disadvantage is the fact they give out comms in Korean when they have a English speaking midlaner. I sympathize for APA even though I am Korean myself because throughout this video, like 3:47 , you see multiple times where vital pieces of information are said in korean. Even if someone translates for him after, that creates a delay in comms. I think that impacts mid heavily for synergy and even during laning phase because you miss out on information that a midlaner can react to. and thats not even with me bringing up how important comms are during teamfights

Very honest video that showed why TL looked so different after the T1 game.
What was clear from the video is that Spawn needs to be elevated as head coach and the rest of the coaching staff needs changed. Spawn was the only one that showed (From this video) any sort of care towards player mental health and everything else.
As for APA and his request for Cassiopeia in that last game. He should not have been shot down immediately and should have just been told to go for it.
It is disheartening to see how blatantly ignored players were and how unprepared the coaching was for these games. Which is a reason why the players lost faith in the coaching staff and each other. The transparency is appreciated here but holy hell does this team need a lot of fixing behind the scenes.

when worlds is on the line you would put the game in the hands of APA? LS said that they should let APA play his champ pool too... you cannot put the worlds run in the hands of one of your weaker players who can only communicate 'pyosik come' to his jungler..
Pyosik and Summit legit went to the coaching staff after game 1 against GAM and demanded that the game be put on Pyosik's back, Pyosik delivered - TL's mid and bot just didn't put out enough damage for the tank top, engage jungler to work..pyosik on carry junglers got them to worlds, almost 1v9 T1, 1v9 the second GAM game..thats the guy you need to set up to carry you - but then they pick him a sejuani

@@johnkirk1772 I think the issue is that they didn’t try to give any of their players the game whether it’s top side mid or bot side the coaches just couldn’t let their team win. Sure don’t give Apa the game to win but also not giving him anything and basically excluding him out of the game plan isn’t going to work nor would giving the games solely to pyosik be repeatable even if they did win the game.

Some 3-4 years ago, I watched the docu Breaking Point (might have been another name, but the one with Dardorch or whatever his name was, crazy jgl'er but also semi crazy person), got hooked by the drama and started following TL and cheering for them. I was so sad about the "original" roster changes, didnt understand how a team that won their own region, showed really good games internationally, why you wouldnt give such a team one more year to become even more in sync. But hey, what do I know. But the changes made resulted in me feeling less connected to the team and then the general level of play of the LCS made it less interesting and I started to follow the LPL scene. Now youtube was like "Yo, remember this Squad series?" and I was like, oh right. God damn, that intro theme thing just hit right in the feels, got so hyped. Then reality hit and what my brain had already deleted was refreshed - what a stupid idea to cut onions while watching this.
I cant help but be a TL fan at heart, maybe its cuz without TL, I wouldnt even have started following LoL esports (cant really say Im happy about playing the game, holy fuck is it frustrating xD), or maybe its because of the ceo Steve - I cant even really tell if im rooting for the players or him more, but theres just something about TL that makes me feel like this is it, this is who I would actually want to be succesfull and cheer for.
BUT, one person who seems to be fairly disliked from all of these squad things and the limited insight we get, is this dude Dodo. If that person is actually a crucial member of the staff and is doing good things behind the scenes, this series has failed to showcase whatever the fuck it is he is doing that is a net positive for this team. From what we are shown through these Squad series, it seems he is just a "multiplier". And thats obviously a good think when things are going well, because then that "well" gets multiplied and it becomes good or great. But when things are not well, it becomes fucking horrible and results like freaking GAM makes TL look like a freaking minor region team. Sadge.
Anyway, good luck next year TL, cant help but root for you guys

Look at APA, he's stoic as you can be, he tells his team that they did a good try, he stays in the game. Core is literally never booming. Maybe psyosik? He wanted to carry, so I guess maybe he was, but honestly, I think the coaching staff is just disconnected from the players (other than spawn, but even then, the players prob don't understand everything he says). mental state isn't a switch but telling the player straight up to get into the mental state to prepare is ironic. mental state needs to be guided into not directed into. then dodo said "mental boom happens every worlds".... okay anybody see the problem there then? happens every worlds? he said it like he is proud to announce that it happens in the team every worlds... buddy you are the problem, as the only piece that hasn't change during all these world stage and mental boom happens every worlds, you need to go buddy and to top it off your solutions for the player was to "just go play and enjoy it" ? ENJOY IT? THIS IS THEIR LAST WORLDS GAME IF THEY LOSE, U SAY JUST ENJOY IT? it could be the players last world stage ever for some of them. and your advice was just to enjoy it? u need to tell them to go out there, and play their best game in their life, go practice, go study on the opponent, practice counter picks, practice team work, be prepared to play their best game of their life possible so there is no regret! but "enjoy it" was all u can come up with? buddy u need to go, no wonder TL just goes to shit at worlds. its like there is no drive what so ever when it comes to worlds. wow and telling people to calm down in a voice that sounds like shit is about to hit the fan. yeah buddy that really helps, also almost half the team doesn't speak english all they hear is how you sound, and yeah buddy good luck calming people down like that.

    • @Saa_la
      @Saa_la 6 месяцев назад +1

This so much! I cringed when they said to get in the mental state "now", what does that even mean? The truth is that he probably doesn't know.
Also, you are 100% right about the pressure of the worlds stage. Look man, "just enjoy it" is what we said 10 years ago when we had no clue on how to actually change the mental state of players. It's not like TL had no expectations and were the extreme underdogs where "just enjoy it" would be more appropriate. Imagine being the player in this situation, and how frustrating it is hearing these completely disconnected speeches about mental states of players.
I think at that point, don't focus on the "mental boom" and focus on the actual game, strategies, and RECOGNIZING the emotions the players are experiencing. These players don't have to have their hands held when they lose. This is the management and coaching staff coping their own damn emotions. It's ironic because Spawn told APA to say : "Hey, what can I do to help?". Well, I wonder if the coaches asked that to the players during this fateful series.
I liked Spawn's approach, but has to work on a few things. Telling people to breathe is fine, telling people to focus on what's next, what the next play is, I actually like that. But you can't just throw things like "be in X mental state" or "don't tilt" or things like that. If I'd be in the player's shoes, I'd only get more frustrated when hearing that.
I still can't believe that guy said "just have fun". Keep Spawn, analyst guy looked actually good and compassionate too, but man, what's with these clowns and the draft and the "hey that's on me guys, it's my fault". Dude, your players are disappointed in their performances, probably reflecting on their mistakes. Leave them alone, be sensible! Why are you smiling and acting like everyone should have had fun?
And it's too bad that Dodo and Reignover planned the whole draft without taking APA into consideration (literally planning in korean) so he didn't have a say. When he spoke, clearly the coaches had made their decision. Anyway, a serious mindset change needs to happen in the coaching IMO.

Please view this message for what it is, Team liquid had the same issue for months and months on end, sometimes you have to look past the tears and say it for what it is, they were not good enough. I understand mental boom it's a real thing, I also understand that these are humans with emotions. Sometimes people have to say it for what it is, how many times has summit ran it down , how many times have team liquid took a fight they didn't need to take, these are pro players with money, time and everything they needed to fix their problems. I wish the league teams were real with their players as they need to hear the truth. STOP sugar coating the message and say it for what it is. All teams have weaknesses and players who own up to their mistakes. I didn't once believe TL was going to win anything, this isn't a Disney channel movie. The mistakes they made all year were not going to disappear. Hope they learn something from this instead of chalking it up as mental boom. because there was more to it .

Isn't the coaching staff just the biggest failure this year? Why did pyosik have to remind the coaches that they can't just brush it off? Of course there will be mistrust and miscommunication when noone is speaking in English and APA is just lost. Watching reignover and dodo's attitude is really frustrating as a fan. Like they seem really incompetent.

It isnt it’s just a team comp problem if you have 4 players speaking a language the other barely or doesnt speak. They should leave apa to another team and get a korean speaking mdilaner if they want to continue this way. Or adopt english as the main language in everything. It’s not a bad thing in both situations but the middle ground is what makes them suffer cuz they cant communicate properly

I can't believe pyosik cried like that.... Like why dude? Why come to North America and join the LCS with having such strong aspirations for worlds still? What did he possibly think he could achieve on an LCS team? This region is considered a retirement home for a reason I just can't understand why someone with such passion would join a team, a region, that has literally no chance at worlds. He should rejoin the LCK if he wants to win again. No matter how good you are as an individual no amount of work will ever make you capable of carrying 4 bodies across the finish line vs the best teams and players in the world. Watching pyosik's reaction has honestly left me just..... Completely confused why he's playing for TL. Maybe he misread TL and thought they were T1 for a second when he first joined then it was just too late to back out when he realized he made a mistake 😅? Idfk tbh.

By the time worlds '22 ended, all LCK teams had their rosters complete so going to LCS was his only chance to keep playing in a team. He landed in a good place, friendly org, he said several times that this year was his happiest, that says a LOT if u think last year he won worlds.
