Full disclosure: I'm not a BJD sculptor. However, I find looking at my project in a mirror very helpful for checking symmetry. Taking digital photos can also help, because I can flip the photo in different ways to see what stands out.
I was fascinated by how well everything came together with just that bit more detailing of the nose, all of a sudden there was a face.

where would i get foam like this?
I think you can get the pink foam from home improvement stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. If I'm not mistaken it's just pink insulation foam.
