Honestly you guys should’ve kept those thermal blankets. They actually work very well. I have multiple survival bags and have done my own self challenges and they actually retain your body heat well. And for like 2-3 dollars it seemed they would’ve been worth it and y’all would’ve been much warmer through the night. Just a little tip from someone that does things like this for fun adventures.
Seeing you guys approaching a wild persimmon with the sort of fear I would have in trying to unhook a gar reminds me that we all have our strengths and weaknesses. 😂 I prefer the cultivated type which are larger and have more flesh than seeds, but I’ve eaten a few wild ones before as a lark. Wildlife loves them. By the way, with freshwater mussels and clams (our local ones here were decimated by parasitic worms but I still remember harvesting them with my mom as a kid prior to their disappearance), the live ones are found in the water rather than on the shore as you don’t have the water levels fluctuating as you do in marine conditions. Definitely do not eat before cooking thoroughly.
Man first freeze of the year me and my dad used to go walking the woods looking for the wild persimmon trees and eat so many of those tasty little buggers.
I actually love wild persimmon, but I've been told my whole life they are better after the first frost. Personally never noticed a difference. That being said, honestly I don't really just eat the fruit off the trees, typically use them to make things like preserves or persimmon rolls, breads or pudding.
I was disabled from Covid pneumonia this past February and since that time I have basically became a RUclips junky. Hours and hours of non-stop content viewing. I discovered you, AYO, and LOJO during this depressing time and watching you three guys are the only thing that brings a smile to my face other than my grandchildren. It takes me back to when I was your guys age and all the crazy adventures I had fishing and camping with my buddies. The banter and comradety between you and your friends (including Yak Pak, One Rod, and all the other Googan Sqaud gang) are pure RUclips magic. In today's world seeing what is now the normal use of profanity and immoral behavior broadcast all over the internet, it is refreshing that you guys can provide content suitable for everybody, young and (like me) old. I hope you all grow and prosper and take over RUclips with your wholesome family friendly content. And thank you for making this old man smile again. Love all you guys and keep up the good work. Great comment. Very kind words, sorry to hear what you're going through. I have a buddy who has been dealing with the same thing for awhile now. He seemed to find relief using supplements on top of his inhaler and other meds. I think he is taking 600mg of NAC 2x a day, Quecerin I forget the dose on that and D3. I tried the NAC and it helped me out with the lung congestion big time. In about 36 hours I could breath better. My buddy said his first 2 days he wasn't winded walking up steps as much. Also part of his PT he would walk around a mile and would need to sleep after. He said after his supplements added he felt like he could actually do things after his walk. Not a doctor, not medical advice. Talk to your Doc, do some research. Maybe you will find some relief my friend. I hope you do. God bless. I'll say a prayer for your recovery as well.

Wild persimmon tree. They are safe to eat when ripe, and those are ripe. If you can find a Japanese persimmon tree, the fruit is almost the size of oranges and taste great.

Fun AF watchin' you guys. Good on ya for tryin' it. Some research would help you in the future, but it would ruin it for us, so I'm stayin' out of it. I'm pretty sure that the fruits you found were persimmons and they are very sweet and good to eat especially when they are mushy like those seemed to be. When they are still unripe they will pucker you right up because they are tart. Still edible, but don't taste good. You can tell if they are persimmons if they have a cluster of seeds in them( about half the fruit is seeds) and if you split a few of the seeds open they will have little white colorations in them that resemble a knife, a fork or a spoon. I'm serious, so store that away for the future. I got a good look at the top stem area of one of them and they are definitely persimmons. They are like candy when they are ripe. Had a blast watching you guys.

I love these challenges…. My survival items would have to be 3 tarps (I’d use tree branches to build a frame.), a fishing kit that has everything that I need to catch fish (a decent rod, and some 20lbs fishing line.) a 5 gallon bucket of water, a fire starting kit, a sleeping bag with a built in pillow, an axe that is good enough to clean the fish, and cut branches. My wheelchair, because I’m disabled. My iPad and iPad charger and a good power bank….

As a Boy Scout, I would always put a ton of leaves under my tent, if it was super cold I would pile the leaves on the side as much as possible to help insulate the tent better. The leaves underneath help insulate, and they also help cushion you when you lay in there lol
Me and my family are huge outdoors man and when we go out and hunt those mountain houses meals are one of our main food sources. Oh btw the chicken and dumplings meal is the best in my eyes.

Definitely a persimmon… won’t hurt you but they are very bitter and the tannin will make your mouth dry and numb. Also, when using the rod to start your fire, shave off a little pile of the rod to catch the spark… I’m sure this has all been addressed. Good content

One of the things you should have for the next challenge like this is a book on foraging. You would be really surprised at some of the eatables and roots etc. My suggestion is to do a $ 200.00

Para-cord is made of many small ropes that are very strong. you should cut the ends off the cord, if what you need to secure is not extremely heavy, and use the smaller ropes so you have 5 or 6 times as much rope.

You guys do realize that if you want to find live muscles you need to be digging in the mud in the water they burry themselves into the mud and filter the pond or lake to feed

The oarnge fruit are called persimmons if you eat the old one's or green cause diarrhea and some times extreme sickness I live around the trees the best one's are oarnge but not too squishy but not green they need to be perfect I love to eat them and I also use them for deer hunting
