@ANTIGLO Anti Globalist Aktion The bombing campaign happened from 70-73, The Khmer Rouge were 75-79, and yes MILLIONS died under their “rulership” from starvation, executions, ethnic cleansing, genocide of minorities and any Vietnamese and general incompetence. Read about what Pol Pot did to the Eastern Zone after uprisings there, they decided to kill off EVERYBODY who lived there, irrespective of if they were rebellious or not, bringing in hundreds of tons of blue colored fabric material to make into distinctive scarves and uniforms that they then required all easterners to wear, so that they stood out, so,they could be more easily controlled and killed.

You have to see it from his point of view at the time. Cambodia peasants had been oppressed by the French, Japanese then a corrupt government under Sihanouk and Lon Nol. The corruption under Sihanouk and Lon Nol was off the charts. The Khmer Rouge were treated just as bad as they treated the population when they were under control. Khmer Rouge soldiers were tortured, starved and killed mercilessly by Lon Nol's military and it wasn't in the name of a well-functioning government. It was a corrupt government from top to bottom. Nothing could get done in Cambodia without bribes. People lost their businesses and couldn't feed their families because of the rampant corruption driving them into the Khmer Rouge who promised a better system. Then you throw in the American bombings, which drove even more people into the Khmer Rouge.
The Khmer Rouge were basically trying to remove all the corruption from Cambodia. It's not like they could spend the time interviewing ever Cambodian to see if they were part of the Lon Nol corruption. Basically, anyone who wasn't a Khmer Rouge, in their eyes, was corruptible. The idea was to get rid of everyone who wasn't a KR and start over.
On the surface what the KR did seems insane but they were treated the exact same.

The evacuation of the city by Pol Pot, justified with no rice, no transport capacity and danger of being bombed by the United States, is now confirmed by United States - the cable of Kissinger at that time:
“Without regular Mekong convoys or a vast emergency airlift, Phnom Penh with its population of 1.3 million would not long remain a viable urban center. It would soon have no electricity, no industry, and rapidly dwindling stocks of such necessities as rice (there is a 38-day supply on hand at the moment). Facts:
    1) 1970-1979 - China supported Polpot.
    2) 1975 - Polpot met Chinese chairman Mao before carrying out the genocide. Mao ordered Polpot to kill 2M Cambodian people plus 100K plus Vietnamese.
    3) 1977 - Hun Sen, the Khmer Rouge commander deflected to Vietnam asking Vietnamese government for help to save his country from annihilation. Vietnam first turned down his request since the country was just united so it needs time to heal and settle down.
4)1978 - Khmer Rouge invaded into Vietnam at the Southern border and massacred hundred of thousands Vietnamese villagers. Vietnam political was still in turmoil and unstable from the unification so Vietnam didn't want any more war. Vietnam sent an envoy to Polpot asking him to stop provoking and sent a message to China asking China to discipline Polpot but received no response. Polpot was over confident that he wouldn't have any problem defeating Vietnamese and taking over South Vietnam.
    5) 1979 - Vietnam finally had enough and agreed to help Hun Sen liberating Cambodia from the genocide. Vietnam waged a full scale war against Khmer Rouge as self defense. Polpot regime got defeated and overthrown after two weeks. China invaded Vietnam with over 200K troops a few weeks later from the Northern border at full scale. Vietnam fought China with just local militia while their main combat troops were still in Cambodia fighting the Khmer Rouge insurgents.
    6) 1975-1995 Vietnam faced the international economy sanction that brought the country back to the stone age while Vietnam was fighting the two evils at the same time, Khmer Rouge insurgents and China.
Present: Cambodia has become a China's colony. They allow China to build China towns, Chinese business districts, and Chinese military base in Cambodia right next to Vietnam border. The Chinese mafia are freely operating their organized crime activities in Cambodia like casinos, human trafficking, body organ trafficking, kidnapping, enslaving people by forcing them working 16hours/days without pay in the the locked rooms like jail cells, scamming, etc. The Cambodian people nowadays even have sympathy for Polpot and believe what Polpot did what justifiable while Vietnam didn't liberate but invade them. They just turned their back against Vietnam and friended with the mastermind behind the genocide. This explains the Khmer culture, an ungrateful and self-destructive culture so I don't feel bad for them as all.

What this shows us, yet again, is that the perpetrators of evil are not necessarily evil people. They may have good intentions, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. He had a paranoia about the threat from Vietnam, but what he says about Vietnam's ambition to swallow Cambodia (and Laos) is not wholly untrue. He surely did not and still does not understand all the consequences that his policies had 'on the ground.' The experience of Cambodia once again demonstrates the dangers inherent in collective ownership unless it is accompanied by democracy, but it should not be used to discredit democratic forms of socialism.

I’m Cambodian and my parents survived the war. They were 7(mom) and 8(dad) and from what they’ve told me, without Pol Pot, Nuon Chea and Khiev Saphon Cambodia would be swallowed whole by Vietnam, Vietnamese leaders tried to commun-ised them but they didn’t support the idea so they were fighting against Vietnamese from taking over Cambodia. The real killers and murderers were front line Khmer Rouge soldier that were free to roam around killing innocent citizens (most of them were secretly Chinese and Vietnamese). After Vietnamese freed Cambodia from Khmer Rouge and since Vietnamese didn’t have control over the 3, they simply blamed them for the killings in which their soldiers did, later on Hun Sen ( a former Khmer Rouge soldier who was communised by Vietnam) was put into presidency so they would have control over the country secretly. To me it kind of all make sense because I wouldn’t think the 3 would be able to make all the orders of killing 1.7 million people. To simplify this. Vietnamese started a fire and then put it out and claimed themselves to be heroic.
I would most likely get hate from this but before I started to get interest in the Khmer Rouge era, I myself hated the 3 individuals but what my parents told me partially changed my perspective. The idea is also agreed upon by many people

The Viet Cong wasn't better and less brutal than the Khmer Rouge by putting 4 millions of lives on the fire to gained its independence as they claimed so. In fact VN and Kampuchea haven't had their true freedom from China up to today. The people of Kampuchea and VN are still under strict control of leftover communism or newly established CPP of Hun Sen, I think the two nations are haunted countries. I don't hate anybody but to feel sorry for the suffering people in the neighbouring countries which would gain their peace if the exploitation from China ends.

This man is here telling you it was pol pots decision to purge the cadres. If they purged the cadres by policy, then surely the people outside the party suffered even more. To say the kr destroyed the Cambodians to save them from the Vietnamese, is like Westmoreland saying we had to destroy vietnam in order to save it, but maybe this is the spooky world of quantum mechanics. Considering your parents age at the time, is it possible that their interpretation is the same as that taught in the KR schools?

Then view again the Pol Pot's years with deserted cities, forced march, execution fields, Tuol Sleng's photos of children, women and men, with their terrified eyes, waiting to be tortured and killed.
    # Then view the scenes of today's Cambodia bursting with life.
    # Then pause a little and honestly, impartially ask: "Thanks to whom for this revival?"

      - the wife of a traitor who doesn't denounce him is committing treason herself
      - excesses are normal during a revolution
      - the children were tainted by their parents' activities and couldn't be saved
      - the photos are fake
      - sometimes innocents are caught in the middle
      - they belonged to an oppressive class and were therefore oppressors themselves

Did you not listen what he said?? I do believe him. He explained anything. If the interviewer would have asked the very natural follow-up questions we would know eeven more, but this hypocrit manipulator does never ask those questions, because he does not want to hear the truth, but to fish for statements, that can be missused by he boss, this US American film producer, who gives him money and ideas. The deaths came not from him or Pol Pot, but crazy commanders, the US carpet bombing or the Vietnamese or Lon Nol soldiers. And of course in any war there are deaths and traitors and there were three wars and many participants and agents of many sides, including those agents sent to kill. It is not a crime to kill criminal murderers.
BTW: same with the interview with Po, Pot by Nate Thayer, also an manipulative "journalist" who did not want the truth, but manipulation. But he made a 2hours interview, but even his very short propagand cuts, show clearly that the Khmer Rouge leaders were good and very responsible humans. However, also Pol Pot confessed, that they were unable to supervise all lower ranks in any part of the country and that there were big problems with rude and unexperienced cadres. Actually the interviewer should have asked deeper, what kind of problems to make this clear - but he does not want to hear this.

Khmer then had 2 choices: flee to the Thai border or risk dying in their homeland. 10000s fled to the border. 1000s got tossed back.

If that the case, Pol Pot was a very stupid leader who doesn't know how to distinguish who was Khmer and who was Vietnamese. Besides, let me tell you kid, because of his stupidity that why's Vietnamese invaded Cambodia, and right now there are a lot of Vietnamese people in Cambodia what are you going to do with them? are you going to repatriate them back to Vietnam? the Vietnamese government won't accept them or you going to kill them, if you kill them I assure you the Vietnamese government will take the killing as an excuse and finish Cambodia ones for all. In video “The last interview with Pol Pot (English Subtitles )”, missalaneous11 says (about Pol Pot) "Classic Narcissist" - I reply
    # Wish you could read my Vietnamese comment; I too believe Pol Pot was struck with Narcissism (hope I understand the meaning of “Narcissism” correctly!). I also mention that China’s Expansionist Rulers like Mao ZeDong and Deng XiaoPing knew this and made full use of it. They thus praised Pol Pot and extolled him to the sky, with flying phrases like “Comrade, your Cambodian Revolution is Top of the World!”, “Comrade, we Chinese Revolutionaries admire your Cambodian Revolution so much, and we must learn from it!”, etc.
    # Now, except among his closed circle of Khmer-Rouge top-cadres, Pol Pot was a nobody from a small, backward country that was Cambodia, with about 7 millions people (before the MaoZedong-DengXiaoPing-ChinaRulers-directing-PolPot-executing genocide)
    # On the other hand, the likes of Mao ZeDong and Deng XiaoPing were notorious top-leaders of the most populous country in the world, that was China, with 1000 millions people.
    # Even US president Richard Nixon had to come seeking audience and help from them
    # Unknown Pol Pot from little Cambodia being praised to the sky by the notorious like Mao ZeDong and DengXiaoPing; this must have made Pol Pot feel he’s top of the world, invincible!
    # But of course, the praises to Pol Pot from the likes of Mao ZeDong and Deng XiaoPing, and China’s Expansionist Rulers, were like those of the Fox to the Crow in “The Fox and the Crow” fable; or the prodding flattery for the Frog that wants to be as big as a Cow in “The Frog and the Cow” fable.
    # After the praises and extolments came the advice, direction and orchestration by China’s Expansionist Rulers for the Pol Pot clique to “kill all enemies within”, gradually expanding to perpetrate the most heinous genocide of the Cambodian people.
    # That is the Internal Part. The aim is to wipe Cambodia clean of the Cambodian population, ready Cambodia for Deng XiaoPing’s Chinese advisers, troops and eventually settlers to flood in.
    # As for the External Part, the advice, direction and orchestration by China’s Expansionist Rulers for the Pol Pot clique are to wage war on Vietnam, and perpetrate the most barbaric atrocities on the Vietnamese civilians.
    # According to China-Rulers’ calculations, in waging war against Vietnam, Pol Pot would eventually loose for sure, and Pol Pot’s troops severely depleted.
    # Once the China-Rulers-scheming-and-directing-PolPot-executing Cambodian genocide has been successful (for China’s Expansionist Rulers), and Pol Pot’s troops have been so severely depleted and Pol Pot was on the brink of defeat in the war with Vietnam, Pol Pot would surely called out to China’s Rulers for help to prop up his Khmer Rouge regime.
    # That was when China’s Rulers would flood the empty Cambodia with their advisers, troops, and eventually colonizers, and turn Cambodia into another Xin-Jiang (East Turkestan), but without any Cambodians left.
    # That was China-Expansionist-Rulers’ vile scheming and calculations for Cambodia and Vietnam.
    ======================================
Dear Viewer - I’ll try to translate my comment below into English (and hopefully other languages as well, especially Khmer) later. But for now, it’s in Vietnamese.
    # Essentially, it’s the evil scheming and direction for the Pol-Pot clique by China’s Expansionist Rulers (notably Deng XiaoPing and Mao ZeDong) to wipe out the whole Cambodian people, so as to make Cambodia ready for Chinese advisers, troops and colonizers to flood in, and thus turn Cambodia into another Xin-Jiang (East Turkestan) but without any Cambodian left. According to DengXiaoPing-MaoZeDong-ChinaRulers’ calculations, this would happen once the DengXiaoPing-MaoZeDong-ChinaRulers-directing-PolPot-excecuting genocide had wiped Cambodia clean of the Cambodian people, and the ChinaRulers-instigating-PolPot-excecuting war with Vietnam had depleted Pol Pot’s troops to the point he’d have to call out publicly to China’s Rulers for sending troops (and advisers, workers, etc.) in for help to keep his regime alive.
