    great video man. I have the exact same bike as this and I had it locked up on me aswell, the problem with mine was my timing chain was old and stiff and it siezed my intake cam, I took it apart slightly sanded the seatings for the cam and redone the valve clearances and replaced the timing chain and she was mint, to check the oil on those bikes theres a dip stick on the headstock opposite side to the vin number as they have oil pumping through the frame.

    At 25:05 you mention the coloration. That is not from overheating. That is from when the crank web is heated to press in the crank pin. I have installed many many dozens of yz250f/yz450f cranks and they all look like this new.

  • @kurtg3891
    @kurtg3891 2 года назад

    you must have done a few of theses because you were fearless when it came time to split the engine case ? since there was oil and the oil pump seemed to be functioning properly what is it that you think caused this issue with the crank bearing to have burned out ? i might presume it possible they had only re added oil after it already failed because this seems like something that should really never happen if you always maintain a bike properly ??

    With everyone thinking an 18 year old bike is worth 3500 on marketplace I would just fix it. The crank kit is 100 bucks on ebay, 220 for a piston kit and maybe 50 for the gasket kit. I just did the same thing to my 426f before i got deployed.

But I have an odd one for ya my head gasket now keeps leaking coolant into the piston i have changed it twice now with no luck. Has 290 big bore kit bored to 312 high compression piston stroker crank. Any idea on how to keep it from leaking? Had to tear the motor apart due to clutch basket exploding.

    alot of these earlier 4 stroke race bikes had a problem with overheating. the majority of them around these years are the culprit of top name brand companies rushing to get a product out to compete with eachother. i had one of these, a kawi, a suzi and a honda all the same. 07+ is about when they actually did some long term testing and debugged SOME of the common issues in these bikes. basically they produced crap right off the assembly line. take it from a mechanic of 15+ years who raced for the better part pf their life. they ran their ass off but for a short amount of time because they were designed for racing. road extremely hard for a short amount of time and rebuilt after a few races. thats why i laugh everytime i see a "trail ridden" race bike because that can be even worse.
