I hope Kenya becomes an investing country as it was in the Kibaki years, and even better! I am hopeful and optimistic about the future of Kenya. I truly hope that the government is listening and plans to take massive action. It can be done!

    This guy is perpetrating the very same thing he is trying to "solve". By not honouring his contractual obligations with the CPN/CHYS clients, he is essentially "killing" the hope of transforming the capital markets since no one will ever trust private companies again with their money in the name of investing. Nice work 👏🏾

      Exactly. Kenyan markets can't trusted like in the developed nations. They're full of smart folks that lack integrity.
      From outright fraud at the NSE to collapsing banks, saccos, pyramid schemes. A firm destroys investor wealth & sues them just to rub the salt in lol.
      There's no consequences to face for the
      regulators, auditors, lawyers & executives involved.
      You lose your money the moment you cede control to these Cos. Buy a farm, start a business, travel & forget the rest. It's your money.

    • @gabiesanchez8943
      @gabiesanchez8943 Год назад +3

      Kenyans still trust putting money in banks even after Chase bank, Imperial bank, and other banks collapsed. Cytonn honored its contractual obligations with her investors 100%. How?
      There was a clause in the investment contracts that gave the Cytonn board powers to indefinitely freeze withdrawals of funds from these products to safeguard the Cytonn investment funds from total collapse during times of severe market shock, like Covid shocks. Investors were happy to sign such contracts.
      Did you think that such clauses in the contract were simply lofty aspirations? No, each clause in the contract is legally enforceable. That's why the courts cannot compel Cytonn board to do anything, because you agreed to ALL the investment terms and conditions.

    • @edwindande9305
      @edwindande9305 Год назад +1

      @@gabiesanchez8943 , you got that right. not just Cytonn, all real estate funds have the liquidity gate clauses, only a foolish manager would fail to put it for a real estate portfolio. when the clause was triggered, some investors have become "victims", instead of focussing on restructuring the portfolio.

    Edwin is a smart man. What he is describing - the monopoly by banks, and their capture of key institutions, is a real problem. That crippling monopoly has stopped economic progress. There can be no free markets without competition. I'm sure when he comes back, he will describe the anatomy of Cytonn's crisis, and the deliberate sabotage by CMA, banking cartels, and a pliant uncritical press that seeks headlines, at the expense of a company's reputation.

    The question is is anyone in Rutos govt listening and taking notes and do what it takes other wise we will be here in 5yrs time talking why we could not do 250,000 houses a year or is it 500,000.
    Let me say housing is one of the biggest components of an economy from jobs to everything else that requires housing like manufacturing and the products needed to buidl housing to furniture meaning whole industires are created out of housing including financial apsects of it.
    In USA housing is a 1.6 trillion economy alone. Remember how housing almost brought down the USA economy in 2008 and the govt had to bail out the economy all because of housing?
    So housing is another industry unto itself like tea, horticulture, tourism. One can gauge the economy by how many people are buying houses. Housing is another determinant on how the economy is doing.
    So Ruto needs to ensure that he gets competent people to run housing dept from the CS to PS they need people who undertand all aspects of housing the finance part of it, the building part of it etc. Housing ministry will need experts akin to treasury. so Ruto please dont give us wash wash people working in housing you need competemt folk running the ministry. its not a place to fill with polticial rejects. I wish hinga the current PS is retained. he is an overall view about housing from financial aspect and even how to distribute the houses whereby only those who need the houses get them and not certain interests.

      Kennedy, the word protecting the public sounds very seductive and is often bandied around to justify stupid rules in capital markets. But in reality there is not data to back the assertion: where was this protection when Chase bank bond, imperial bank bond, mumias sugar, ARM commercial paper, Transcentury bond, Uchumi, Real people bond, CMC motors, Amana Capital, Nakumatt commercial paper, all these were either regulated or packaged by a regulated entity, and the investors walked away mostly with zero... nothing. where was your protector of the public when this was happening? the best protection of an asset in the underlying asset, such as real estate, not some hot air protector.
