My hubby was getting his hair cut in downtown LA and he's not a fan, but this "homeless guy" came in and was looking and hair product. After a bit, he picked one, bought it, chatted with people and left. It was Lou. I love that story.
I love the way the guitar changes during some verses. the notes change, from sounding like beautiful music, to sounding like a beeping electrocardiogram linked up to someone's heartbeat going flat. Just with a different sequence on the same instrument, it makes that sound.

Thanks, great video. I have always been a Lou Reed and Velvet Underground fan. I just wish there was more. I play "Transformer" over and over as well as "The Velvet Underground and Niko". I hadn't felt the loss of a musician so deeply since probably Cobain. Even though Lou was older he was still too young to go. I love Tool, King Crimson and an eclectic mix of music but I know when the great king Leonard Cohen passes I will feel a deeper loss than ever before. Enjoy your journey Lou!
You wish there was more? Lou Reed has at least 20 solo albums! No need to linger on Transformer or TVU&N, there's plenty of quality material out there that would take years to fully digest.
Lou had 22 studio albums alone, TVU had 5. You're right, I was lamenting losing a great artist but I admit it, I just looked at all the Lou Reed and TVU albums I have and it is pretty staggering!
i sometimes imagine myself alongside a friend I haven't met yet, listening to this song among others and just sitting down on the floor on a starry cold night.
I imagine me singing this to the one who got away while we slow dance if i could convince her to see me one last time. She had the most beautiful pale blue eyes and the lyrics are perfect. 21 years ive been waiting

I do enjoy. I thank you! His brilliance was to short lived. I love the way in which Lou over pitches his guitar string bend when he experiences a painful thought in this song. The Katt must of had a fabulous sense of humor. My pale blue eyes are deep, dark, brown. They linger on............. I know the pain.
I thought the internet was the only way people discover music anymore :/ I'm old school, you had to do your research: reading mags, take notes, go to place to place, SPEND $, know cool people...you had to earn it. Music was so much more tangible that way. Staring at the album, reading along with the lyrics. That gave it a real sense of totality.

This a very well written song. For me it describes perfectly well how I am feeling at this very moment in time, and how I have felt very many times before.
Lou reed is a master of rhythm one of the best of all time his and the velvet underground’s contribution to rock n roll remains in a class of its own!!
This song is more than what is seems to be. On the surface it is towards Reed's lover. But she didn't have pale blue eyes... Her eyes were hazel. So what is going on here? A little more than just a love song? The pale blue eyes refer to the poet Rimbaud, who described himself with precisely those words. He 'lingered on', by influencing artists like Reed, Dylan, Jim Morrison, and Patti Smith, a century after his death. Rimbaud walked away from poetry at the age of 20 and never looked back. "Thought of you as my mountain top, thought of you as my peak" and "Skip a life completely, stuff it in a cup", and "down for you is up" as well as "mostly you just drive my mad" refer to this. A brilliant poet who walks away from his art, only to leave aspiring poets gasping with a mixture of admiration and frustration. "Linger on", Rimbaud, "your pale blue eyes." You walked away, yet you "linger on."
Both. VU liked complexity. Why not weave two into one? Reed would also write: "All the poets, they studied rules of verse, and those ladies, they rolled their eyes."
Allen Dupras Glad you like it. Most people think of Reed as this rock'n'roll animal-god from the seventies, and rightly so. But he did have a degree in English literature... He knew his poets. His last solo album The Raven, from 2003, is dedicated to Edgar Allen Poe.
this song is for my husband and always will be, we've been together 20 years may 2014 and he has the most amazing blue eyes. i love him as much now as the day we met xxxx
this is so simple and i dont know, it may not be the greatest song of all time (its close) but, it just feels so good and the emotion and stuff is awesome. definetly MY favourite song of all time
Do you have a link to him saying it, please? It's one of my absolute favourite songs and I am obsessed with good omens ♥️ Edit: nevermind I found the post on tumblr :)
Srrangely, i didn't discover the Velvets until a little over 2 yrs ago, on DirecTV music channel. It was Sweet Jane. Had thought it was a Cowboy Junkies song. The original is, of course, superior. Then i discovered 1 or 2 other Velvet songs and bought an album. Fantastic. Amazed that "Heroin" got past the sensors back then. The band has amazing widespread influence all through the rock world. RIP, Lou.
The exact same for me with Three Little Birds. In my opinion, the greatest, most optimistic song for an aging family member to sing with her grandchildren. Especially after never hearing her voice, to hearing her carry it through different notes during something as beautiful as one Bob Marley's songs. *thanks for the reminder
I Grow with your music, Lou.... but as i still listen to it Today...I will do it , for shure, for the rest of my life...with the same pleasure and chill, that i felt the first time.

A quietly skilled song. Lou takes his time to let the mood build and simply says all that is needed, written from inside of his feelings. Lovely song
The long solo is seriously outstanding.

I could listen to this forever.
I really thank you for uploading this song.
it sounds like waves of an ocean dandling you...
Lou Reed spoke to our souls…R.I.P. my gentle heart.
this is so simple and i dont know, it may not be the greatest song of all time (its close) but, it just feels so good and the emotion and stuff is awesome. definetly MY favourite song of all time
"... right now, I'm trading ALL my life for an afternoon playing video games with my bro" :(
isn’t it funny i’m in love with a girl with pale blue eyes and this band is one of her favourites, this song reminds me of you in all the best ways
"You're not my friend, all you've ever done is hold me back and im the idiot for not seeing it until now"
I miss him . But I know he wasn’t happy here so I’m glad he left. Keep going big man..
ngl I came here cause of Good Omens and Neil Gaiman saying Crowley listens to this
Well then he must have good taste in music then.
Do you have a link to him saying it, please? It's one of my absolute favourite songs and I am obsessed with good omens ♥️
Edit: nevermind I found the post on tumblr :)
RIP, Lou.
"You've been LYING to me?!?"
"You're not my friend."
broken-screenss "Mordecai.. I'm sorry.."
You were supposed not do this to your own best friends
The exact same for me with Three Little Birds. In my opinion, the greatest, most optimistic song for an aging family member to sing with her grandchildren. Especially after never hearing her voice, to hearing her carry it through different notes during something as beautiful as one Bob Marley's songs. *thanks for the reminder
I'm here because of Good Omens. Gosh. Just marry each other already, Crowley and Aziraphale.
I Grow with your music, Lou.... but as i still listen to it Today...I will do it , for shure, for the rest of my life...with the same pleasure and chill, that i felt the first time.
Depression brought me here
If you are here... You know you really know what music is all about....
Everything I've had but couldn't keep.....
I know exactly how that feels 💔😯😢
