This is the most thorough and perfect pedal comparison video ever. Everything I would have wanted to compare almost in the same order even that I would have done it. More videos, lots more please!
Pretty similar and both sound great. The mid switch on the Crimson seems like it'd be really useful for standing out in a live mix but also pretty pricey!
The crimson is one of the best fuzzes I have ever owned. I think it doesn’t translate over phone, crimson is huge in person. If you match your pedal volume and amp volume on the edge of brake up roll back distortion and hit the mid boost. You can get really good harmonics from the crimson.
@Gorlag Frimost Immortal you are spot on. For all the people who are writing that the EXH Green Russian and the Crimson sound the same, you need to have an ear check. First of all, you can distinctly hear in this video that the Crimson has a deeper sound. I have owned both pedals and A/B them together: there is no comparison ... the Crimson sounds bigger, deeper in the frequencies and more alive. Plus, the mid-boost function is voiced very nicely and it is very usable. I am not dissing the EHX Green Russian; it is a great pedal indeed......, but, as much as I really wanted to prefer the EHX Green Russian, the Crimson is on another league IMHO.
@@hjalmarconte4926 yeah, there is no air to push bass frequencies over phones. That’s how most people watch RUclips now. It just doesn’t capture it well.
Nice big additional shelf of freqs in the Crimson, even without the boost. Also has more solid harmonic saturation with less fizz and the flub keeps more upper mids teeth. Love both though.
Maybe one can get a similar sound but not the same flavor. The Crimson has that extra bite with a creamy topping, and top-end that´s missing in the Muffing
Great video, thanks for uploading. I'm looking for a fuzz that can get me from Gilmour lead tones to some more raunchy alternative / grungy stuff (Smashing Pumpkins, etc). I think I'm set on the Green Russian but I'd love to hear your opinion.
Hmm I think the crimson wins. Although they’re still close enough to where the price point of the electro harmonix would sell me. Have you done either of these next to a Russian pickle yet?
@@WeAsACompany I love to boost my russian muff with a klon clone!! really, anything works. but for me that I don’t need much gain (think QOTSA, or Mastodon type gain max), that’s enough. I have an Archer Ikon and a chinese Klon and both work great 👌🏼👌🏼 or using a Rat like in one of your other cool videos!
Here we go! What's your favorite Russian Big Muff?
Great video! They are basically the same, except for the mid boost.
I have the BM Tone Wicker-looking forward to the next video about this.
Thx for your comment!

You always pick the best pedals to shout-out. Surprised by how similar these were! Great video as always!
Thx so much!

Green Muffs are the best Muffs. Great demo.

Great demo which one gives off the least hiss I hate hiss I've no room on my board for suppressors they both sound excellent though
They're both quiet, maybe the ehx is a bit quieter.

We would go with Triangle or Ram's Head for that purpose. They're the most versatile.
@@WeAsACompany Thanks for the reply - Will check them out!
For the smashing pumpkins get the op-amp big muff…

Nope, we never had the chance to try the Russian Pickle.
the only difference I notice is $ 130. you can boost the mids on the EHX even better through other methods ;)
Which method would you use to boost the mids on a regular muff?
