Winter is here! From the Mew Lake access point, we hiked approximately 6km to get to the furthest campsite on the west side of Provoking Lake. The weather was crisp and chilly, and the sky and water were deep blue. The terrain was covered in pillowy snow and a joy to walk on. This would be a really nice trip for folks new to backpacking.

Sticky rice. Coolest meal I've seen on any camping trip so far.
Thanks for sharing the adventure!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad I was able to capture some of nature’s beauty to share 😄
Lovely video!! I’m camping at Provoking Lake next month and have watched this video a couple times just in anticipation 😌
Thank you 🥰 It's a great time to visit. I hope you have an amazing time!
Beautiful scenery! Great video!
Thanks! 😄
I would like to ask if you need an appointment for this? Or not Because it seems that there are some road conditions, all wild camping is closed, but we have nine day vacation in March, and we really want to camp in the wild.
You can reserve winter backcountry in Algonquin Park. Check out their website 😊
Nice editing! Hope to be heading there in 2 weeks…
Thanks! I can't wait to be back out there, I hope you have a great trip. Have fun, stay safe (and warm)! 🏕❄️
The issue here is that during the winter months you are not permitted to camp on official campsites.
"When the ground is snow covered or lakes are frozen in Algonquin Park, winter backcountry camping is not permitted on designated summer campsites or within 30 metres of a lakeshore, trail, or portage marked on the Canoe Routes Map or Backpacking Trails Map. It is recommended that you camp in low sheltered areas where there is a good supply of standing dead firewood for warmth and cooking."
Hi, thanks for commenting on the special rules for backcountry camping in the winter months. While these restrictions are still true for portaging routes, all hiking backcountry campsites have moved to a site-specific reservation model and we stayed at our designated campsite reserved through Ontario Parks. Hopefully Algonquin parks will update their guidelines soon!
Hi, nice video. What month was this?
Thanks! This was the last week of November ❄️
Hello,we r the couple just like you live in Toronto, and we decide to try the backcountry camping in this winter. Any possible we can reach you and know some detail about how to plan and assmble? Thanks so much
Hi Luna! Amazing that you’re up for winter backpacking. Sure, you can DM me on Instagram: camp.ducky. I’ll try my best to answer your questions 😄
Are these Tamales or Pamonhas you’re eating ?
We're eating sticky rice with sausages and chicken wrapped in a banana leaf. Grandma's recipe. 😊 We love bringing these backcountry because it's super easy to heat up over the grill and we can burn the banana leaf afterwards so no garbage to carry out!
