Xanadu from Exit Stage Left.
NICE JOB! HAPPY 4th!! Live is Awesome! Seen them 4 times. A couple songs are best studio, especially for a first listen! Those are;
THE TREES
THE CAMERA EYE
NATURAL SCIENCE
LA VILLA STRANGIATO and probably my favorite
CINDERELLA MAN!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
2112
Check out Rush's "Best Intro Ever" live. It is a relatively new, live montage of many of their earlier songs that will really set you on the journey down the Rush rabbit hole! ... 40+ years, 175+ songs, 3 amazing musicians individually, that were magic together.
Welcome to Rush. I have loved this band since the early 80s. Best band ever. I can't wait to see what else you react to. I recommend Freewill next.
Greatest power trio and live performers in rock music, Geddy is one of the best bassists ever Alex is a guitar god and Neil is just the greatest drummer to ever grace the planet. 😊🇨🇦
My three favorite people since 1981. I miss seeing them perform their incredible skills. I still cry thinking about Neil. What a time to have been alive. ❤❤❤ RUSH ON EH!!!
Welcome to the RUSH family! Another easy song to love is Working Man live in Cleveland - an epic performance. It's straight up rock and roll and RUSH's first hit. Without this song, we may not have ever heard of the band. You will love it!
Canada's greatest cultural export!
Xanadu from Exit Stage left is an incredible experience. And likely the greatest performance Rush ever gave. Red Barchetta is a fun one from Exit Stage Left too. (I think) I’ll forever be grateful to Canada for giving us Rush. 3 of the greatest musicians in any rock band in my opinion.
Rush is equal to ... Leonardo Da Vinci, Picaso, Stephen Hawking, Einstein, Micheal Jordan or Mike Tyson in their genre. There is no one, no group, no bassist, no guitarist, no percussionist and no lyricist that can match them.
Greatest band of all time lyrically and musically all 3 are virtuosos on their instruments!!!!!!!
These guys were fire live. You can’t believe how much sound three guys can put out. So glad I got to see them a few times. Check out Xanadu live from 1981 Exit Stage Left tour and prepare to be amazed!
PS - a happy (belated) Canada day to you!
Thanks! I made a sort of dedication/ tribute video to The Hip for it, but I don't think anyone noticed ah haa.. it was within that video I mentioned Rush, and decided to discover them. Their sound is incredible..like almost not real. Thanks for watching!
Rush is amazing live! All three members are virtuosos on their instruments. The singer/bass player/keyboard player, Geddy Lee, and the guitarist, Alex Lifeson, have been best friends since they met at age 13 in middle school (they will be 71 years old this year; amazing!). The drummer, Neil Peart, joined rush after the release of their first album in 1974, and quickly became friends with the other two (he is considered one of the best rock drummers. He retired from Rush in 2015 passed away from brain cancer in 2020). Another interesting aspect of their career is that it was Neil who wrote the band's lyrics from 1974 onward. Rush is known for their complex music, with shifting time signatures throughout. Often, all three members are soloing at the same time! There was no infighting or drama with this band; for their 40-year career, they remained the best of friends. For a future reaction, I suggest the live version of 'Analog Kid' from the Clockwork Angels tour.
@@sarastromseth-troy3323 I mean no disrespect but I think you mean Analog Kid from the Clockwork Angels tour. They didn’t play that one on the RM tour.
I only say this because if she tries to find it she won’t on the tour you mentioned.
@@lisaharrison1031 thanks for the correction; I will edit my comment.
One of the best rush songs. It's one of those songs if you hear on the radio you don't change the station. I'm glad you found them. I hope you have more on your channel. I really enjoyed this reaction. Thank you Angel D
You're gonna love so many more songs by Rush, they're the ultimate live band! Greetings from Canada!
In 1982 I was a 15-year-old school drummer who went to his first rock concert. It was Rush. My life changed forever that night.👍
Im about your age but i didnt get to see Rush until 1986. I was blown away and i continued to follow Rush until the end.
What a performance of one of my favorite Rush songs. Three very talented musicians. Another of my favorites is Limelight.
There are two versions of RUSH -studio and live! Both are great! As a Canadian teenager in the seventies, I was introduced to RUSH by a new kid in my neighborhood! He played me their live album- All the Worlds a Stage! He told me that he had been that concert! He also taught me how to air guitar and drum to this album!
That kid changed my life!
One of my favorites is ! A farewell to kings ! Thanks again for reacting to Tom sawyer !
Just three guys from Toronto that combine to make up the best rock band in the world
yep 3 masters of their craft all in one group.
Sad fact: In the autumn of 2016, Rush drummer/lyricist Neil Peart was diagnosed with the same cancer, Glioblastoma, that took Good Downie in the autumn of 2017. Thanks to new genetic-based therapies, Peart was able to squeeze out another 3.5 years. An intensely shy and private man, Peart kept his illness secret to all but a handful of family and friends. You might have missed the announcement of his death in January 2020, but it was all over the newspapers and led the TV news on CBC, CTV, and Global.
I love the reference to Cheech and Chong at the very end..
“Mama talkin to me trying to teach me how to live.. but I don’t wanna listen cause my head is like a sieve”
Classic Rush humour.
Nah nah nah, nah nah nah, nah, nah ,nah..."ear ache my eye!"
Well....nows your time they have an amazing catalogue and every Canadian girl should dive in to our own awesome band❤🇨🇦🎸
I was a bit shy about reacting to Rush, because I know people are gonna get on me for being Canadian and not knowing them..but I can't do much about never being around places that were played, like my friends and family etc didn't listen to them, I worked in night clubs that played club music etc. I don't listen to the radio much either, unless it's just on in the background somewhere so thankfully we have RUclips and I can dive head first!
Welcome to the Rush rabbit hole. There was never a band quite like this. Master musicians, well read, respected among musicians, with over 40 years of music that was everchanging. I miss them very much. I hope you get a chance to explore deeper into their music. Please checkout Xanadu, La Villa Strangiato, and YYZ when you get the chance. There are just too many kick ass songs. Great reaction. RIP Mr. Peart...
Was lucky to see Rush 13 times, all in various venues here in their hometown of Toronto.
Best live band I've ever seen of hundreds of concerts over the years.
Nice reaction.
Check out Rush's "Best Intro Ever" live. It is a montage of many of their earlier songs that will really set you on the journey down the Rush rabbit hole! ... 40+ years, 175+ songs, 3 amazing musicians individually, that were magic together.
Before you follow down the Rush rabbit Hole, the safe choice for a Rush newbie is Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions or if you want to see the full musical magnificence that three people can produce check out the Exit Stage Left version of Xanadu.
Cartoon for Spirit, official video for Subdivisions.
The album 2112 was it for me used to crank it up to 11 at night and just marvel at the musicianship and story telling for a trio of musicians they are remarkable
Try out La villa strangiato or Xanadu. Both are awesome. La villa strangiato is an instrumental. This could be an endless rabitt hole you are getting into!!!!
A bit too potent for a noob. 😅
Snake's and Arrows tour 2007. Saw this tour at the Ford Amphitheater in Tampa FL. Absolutely incredible show! Best band ever!
I attended the show in Rotterdam, where this video was shot. Seeing them live was always such a treat.
Great reaction..... My favorite hard rock band since the late 70's .....RIP to Neil, greatest drummer ever imo ! ..... Working Man live in cleveland is a great performance...... Thanks.
Great critique! You know your stuff!!!! This song is just the tip of the iceberg with this band......they are one of a kind and have many tunes that will blow you away with just how good they are.
Just three guys having fun! Check out Xanadu from Exit Stage Left tour!
Angel
My friends and I were fortunate enough to see live in concert back in 2010 when they were on Time Machine tour.
I recommend The Spirit of Radio from the Maple Leaf Gardens concert. Also Xanadu from the Exit Stage Left concert.
For Tom Sawyer, Limelight, and Vital Signs, the official video at Le Studio are must-see. This version feels a wee-bit slower.
🤗 Subbed for Rush! 😁 Im 60 and still want to be Geddy Lee when I grow up! 😊 Welcome to the Rush fam! 🥰🐰
RIP Neil Peart🤘🎸
The Spirit of Radio, Closer to the Heart, Red Barchetta, Working Man, and Fly By Night would all be good starters before really going down the rabbit hole...
Hi There.
I just found your channel.
Fellow Canadian here. Rush are my top band!
Rush are their own genre and they all solo at the same time.
These guys took their music but not themselves seriously.
I would say more but it has been said in other comments.
A few suggestions
Digital Man from the Snakes and Arrows tour This song has such a cool vibe!
Working man live in Cleveland 🤯🤯🤯
Xanadu from Exit Stage Left live in Montreal
An amazing performance of a masterpiece!
YYZ live in Rio
🔥🔥🔥
I would also suggest watching Beyond the Lighted Stage which is a fantastic documentary about the band.
Hope you had a great Canada Day. Not so great here in Manitoba. It rained all day! 🌧🌩🌫
Cheers
The reaction to Rush, regardless of first song illicits the same reaction from first time listeners. “But…….three of them!……..that drum kit…….that bass sound……..is he playing keyboards as well?………..that guitarist is really good…….that drummer!”
Hard one.First time i saw them live was 79 on the spheres tour
You should listen to Xandu that will literally blow your mind. An epic song from an epic band.
Rush does have quite a few of them playing live , I'm sure you will be getting many live performances requests. I like to add one of my live favorites
Working Man
Live in Cleveland ❤
Rush are good Canadian kids they are amazing live. Being from Canada I've seen them 5 times and every show was outstanding. These guys are musicians musicians Neil Peart on drums is the GOAT. ( RIP ) Geddy Lee plays lead style on the bass at times it's insane to witness live. Alex Lifeson is an incredible guitarist totally underrated IMO but loved by their fans. I would recommend Limelight live next great reaction thank you.
The lead singer playing keys and bass is wild... and such perfection. It was such a vivid sound, hard to explain..I tried, but I think I fell short on fully expressing how great the sound was to me.
@@AngelDReacts No you did a great reaction thank you.
Hey Angel. If this is your introduction to Rush and your first impression is as good as it appears, you’re in store for a wonderful ride. While this tune is one of Rush’s classics, it is one of a substantial library of great songs. I had the opportunity to see Rush on several occasions in concert and I encourage you to stick with the live versions of the songs as they are fantastic. Neil Peart (perhaps GOAT drummer who sadly has passed away), Geddy Lee (vocalist and probably right up there GOAT bassist) and Alex Lifeson (guitarist) possibly greatest trio band of all time. I recommend Spirit of Radio for next Rush review. Thanks for a great video! ❤
Great reaction!!! You obviously appreciate artistical musicianship. Rush is absolutely the best 3-piece band ever (quite frankly top five best band ever, no matter the members). Pure musicianship and fluid artistry in each of them and their instruments along with the pure chemistry between them.
Welcome aboard the Rush Train!!! Now time to venture down the RUSH rabbit hole.
I would suggest the songs below to add to your Rush journey and reactions. All of these are absolutely fire!!! Especially all of the LIVE instrumentals with Geddy’s Bass, Alex’s Guitar, and Neil’s percussive artistry.
- La Villa Strangiato - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental - custom "carnival" intro) - original was 1978. Pure musicianship!!! UNMATCHED - best instrumental EVER.
- Working Man... Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (original studio version was in 1974)...The pure sight and performance of three men in their upper 50's take control of the stage and perform and play like they were in their 20's.
- Xanadu...Live version 1981 Exit Stage Left tour...will leave you speechless from pure musicianship...original was 1977.
- YYZ…live from Rio in 2002 (instrumental)…original was 1981
- Best Intro Ever - Live version (R30 tour 2004) - various riffs from their 1970's songs leading into Spirit of Radio - original was 1980
- Closer to the Heart (Live 1998 Different Stages) - original was 1977
- Limelight...studio version - original was 1981.
- The Garden (Clockwork Angels tour live) - original was 2012
- Subdivisions...studio version or live version - original was 1982
- Freewill... Live from Snakes and Arrows Tour 2007 - original was 1980
- Fly by Night - original was 1975
- Leave that Thing Alone - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental) - original was 1993
- Malignant Narcissism (instrumental) and Drum Solo - Live 2008 Snakes and Arrows Tour - original was 2007
- Also...Neil Peart's Drum Solo Live from Frankfurt 2004. He was The Professor...a pure musician and percussionist...not just a "drummer". Be ready to be amazed by not just his hand coordination...but most of all his foot coordination...basically his feet being completely individual in timing from his hands during segments of this performance. He was the master of this technique.
Thank you so much! I have screen shot your comment for reference. Excellent comment. You win comment first prize lol
I suggest doing the album version 1st then live versions, then you will see how they reproduce their greatness live
So many favs, it’s crazy. Today, it’s Natural Science.
Neil's drum solo...
Thank you for reacting to my favorite band
👏👏👏
Oh just subscribed
FYI: The music video is just them in the studio playing the studio version. I hope you listen to more Rush songs. It’s like a heritage thing, like Tim Hortons or Strange Brew or hockey.
Cliche I know but I’m American. Please don’t hold that against me.
Watch the original video of Tom Sawyer. It's the recording sessions in studio back in 1980 (in their prime!!).
I will do that, thanks!
🏆🏆🏆🏆!
It didn't seem perfect. IT WAS AND IS! THAT'S WHO RUSH IS: PERFECT!
You should react to their live version of Xanadu!
Great react!!!
Try live "Xanadu" or "Closer to the Heart". Rush is marvelous and Canadian... forgive my redundancy.
Rock In Peace Neil Peart
Check out Neils Live in Frankfurt drum solo
🤗 You're gonna get a ton of request for 'Working Man Live in Cleveland' & 'YYZ Live in Rio'. 🤔 Also Tom Sawyer video is just them in Le Studio playing the song. 😒 It doesn't get weird until MTV enters the picture (Big Money, Time Stand Still) and messes up amazing songs with stupid video antics & graphics. 🥰🐰
What's next? Where do I start? (in no particular order)
Xanadu
2112
La Vila Strangiato
YYZ live in Rio
Red Barchetta
Closer to the Heart
Limelight
Spirit of Radio
The list could go on forever.
There was/are hundreds if not thousands of people sitting behind drum kits because of the Master, MR. Peart....feeble attempts to imitate, and impossible to duplicate ( but a heck of a lotta fun to try) RIP to the Master
Ok. This is towards the end of their 40 yr run together. Geddys voice was squirrely in the later years. Listen to 2112..
Any live version of Natural Science is a must see !
Ahh, no one else mentioned this one..I am making a list, thank you!
@@AngelDReacts Try the performance from the Molsen Amphitheater. It's one of their best songs. I also recommend Medley: By Tor and the Snow Dog, In the Mood , In the End, Grand Finale from the Exit Stage Left concert. I saw Rush 18 times! Once from the 11 the row.
Try red barchette ,YYZ live in Rio a must see!! The crowd sings to an instremental to do that the song has to be strong stays in your head ,try limelight Xanadu live, 2112 whole first side, A Farwell to kings whole album hemispheres whole album permanent waves whole album Rush is an album band from beginning to end its phenomenal, seen them 39 times 1 reason I play the drums because of Neil Peart, the greatest drummer of all time in my opinion!!
He is awesome..I reacted to a drum solo as well.
I say you go real deep next time and watch Xanadu live from Exit Stage Left tour you'll be absolutely floored by the instrumentalist of the band, another 2 that are just instrumentals are YYZ, live from Rio probably the best of YYZ live, the other is La Villa Strangiato
Do ‘Limelight’, ‘Subdivisions’, ‘Freewill’, and then you might be ready for the otherworldly magnificence that is the Exit Stage Left version of ‘Xanadu’. Oh, and you need to check out the other Canadian musical genius, Devin Townsend, if you haven’t already. Check him out, thank me later…
The guitar seemed to have been lowered in volume compared to the bass. Like you noticed, it seemed like the bass was the lead, but you just couldn't really hear Alex going off.
I would strongly suggest the studio recordings of Rush’s music for a first time listen.
The official video shows the creation of the song in studio, it's well worth a watch and listen.
Canadian that's never heard RUSH? I'm surprised you're allowed to live in the country.🍁
This performance was after Geddy's voice left him.
I didn't say I NEVER heard them. I said I never LISTENED to them. I explain it in the video. Being Canadian is hard lol IDK why people expect me to know everything Canadian just because I live here...I am not leader haha
And, yes, Neil Peart, may he Rest in Peace, was the GREATEST drummer of all-time, bar none!
A few suggestions?

Your a Canadian and this is your FIRST RUSH REACTION?
Better late than never, I say
@@AngelDReacts Glad you've joined us! Don't tell anyone but I'm an American... P.S, LOVED your Beatles 'Now and Then' reaction!
@@steveschaff4620 awe thanks! And nothing wrong with being American! I am telling everyone lol America is great.. I watched some of the debate the other day!
