It has good mileage, low maintenance and reliable. I am sure I have added to your confusion but take a test ride a few time of each bikes you short list, evaluate the pros and cons, your budget and requirements and you are good to go.

You are the only reviewer to point out the front heavy nature of dominar in slow moving traffic conditions which is a very crucial aspect while assessing any motorcycle... surprisingly most reviewer's aren't even aware of this aspect.
In that context the Himalayan is a breeze and easier to live with motorcycle.

Great review as always Vikrant. It's those tiny details about how the motorcycle behaves at slower speeds and how it may be difficult to maneuver at a standstill that a new rider would really want to know more of when selecting hi/her first motorcycle.

Very nice review. A useful video for people who want to buy Dominar 250. Very well covered and explained all important things which are actually necessary. Surprisingly not that typical cursing for all Bajaj bikes which are really not the case with only Bajaj bikes like all other reviewer's. Subscribed the channel by just watching this one video. Hey Vikrant! I've already commented how helpful the video was and I went to showroom today to buy this but the problem. It was only available with Eurogrip Tyres and not MRF'S. Should I buy one? Will they provide sufficient grip?

Well designed, perfect for a midrange touring motorcycle.. also justify the extra price than fz but a big issue is the weight almost 27kgs more than other 250ccs is major negative. Reduce the weight and bajaj can give a rocket in this segment.

Hello, how is the vibration compared to d400. I am also considering d400 as not much price difference. Fuel efficiency is not at issue. But I don't like vibration, looking for a vibration free ride experience. D250 / D400 / meteor 350...which one is better regarding this. Max speed I ride is upto 80 to 100 on highway. 30 to 60 in city.

Bought the D250. Thoroughly enjoying the bike although there is an FI issue that I'm encountering. When taking out the bike after a long resting time, it keeps bogging and jerking at about 3-4k rpm when accelerating. After about riding for 5 mins everything goes back to normal.
Please give me website link for buying dominar 250 ladies footrest.

How about the rumored 2020/2021 Bajaj Discover 250cc BS6 for something in between the Hero Xpulse 200 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan?
I'm interested in a dual sport, mainly for village mountain roads and city streets but also for the occassional highway touring trips.
What would your recommendation be? Not so much for fun, looks or touring really; but, mainly for practical purposes - a low cost, green commuter bike that can handle all terrain with excellent fuel economy, plus designed for durability and minimal maintenance, also great for hauling luggage with an option for a rear trunk and saddle bags...
Does anything like this currently exist (or upcoming soon) in the Indian market? The Xpulse 200 looks close; also an affordable option at around 1 lahk...
Lastly, are there any plans for CNG bukes (compressed natural gas from Qatar is much more affordable and cleaner than petrol) or low cost, dual sport scooters (with at least 14 inch tires and decent suspension / clearance) to handle village mountain roads both pin pavement and off-road?
Xpulse would be my recommendation.
I ve seen so many people giving review about byk and they are very good in it but you seems in different league. Just love the explanation.

This review from vikrant is one of the best reviews out there is D250. Can yo tell me how does it compare with Fz25, given that Fz25(yet to be launched) will also have great touring capabilities and value for money proposition.
Thanks Shivendra. :-). As for choosing between the FZ and the Dominar, the FZ will be lighter, more nimble. But it won’t pack the torque and performance. And you do rely on the latter if you tour with luggage and pillion.
Fz25 is more of a city bike.

FZs 250 Price 1.56 Lacs ex showroom with 20 bhp power and 20 nm torque, wher Domi 250's ex showroom price 1.6 Lacs with 27 bhp power and 23 nm torque, USD front suspension, DOHC engine, Slipper Clutch, 6 speed gear box. But FZS is 22 kgs lighter. If you compare the price between these 2 motor cycle them Domi 250 is an autometic choice over FZs.

i ride a RE Electra UCE. So will the weight be an issue for me. I have bad back so I hope its good for my back on bad roads. Daily use for office commuting and occasional tour maybe once a month. I guess power/torque should be good coming from RE 350cc. I am hoping service cost and reliability is better than RE.
Nice & To the point review..btw i got delivery of dominar 250 just today when all the reviews came in.. from my short ride today in a lot of traffic, i think wt isnt the issue in city traffic..but just like u mentioned it can be heavy in tight parkings and spaces..

It’s possible. But you won’t be able to get the best from the tyre. To be able to do that, you will have to move to wider rims.

We haven’t reviewed the D400. We only did a small piece on it in our trackday film.
One small doubt sir 130 section tyre next time can we change to broader tyres is it possible in dominar 250 ??? Kindly reply me sir awaiting your reply
You can always switch to 140. But I know the tyre grip of these Zappers and they are really good.

Your content, sir, gleams with maturity amongst the sea of wannabe reviewers on youtube. Can you please solve my dilemma, i am confused between Dominar 250 and Himalayan, I have to commute about 100kms daily on broken asphalt and some occasional weekend tours with wife (300-500kms). My priorities are comfort and fuel efficiency.
I would say go for the Himalayan. It is the better bike when it comes to poor roads.

In 250cc segment there's fz25 and suzuki 250cc so which one will you pick
It's honestly a tough choice, but we'd choose the FZ25 simply because we have spent a lot of months with it. Love that engine and the comfort it offers.

Commuting - either one works. Both have usable mid range torque, acceptable slow speed ride, and fuel efficiency for both should be between 30-35kmpl.
Touring - The Dominar hands down. Better handling, better stability under brakes, more refined motor, and enough too end to push beyond three digit of the need arises while overtaking. Better ergos too, I think.
