    Guys like Eric are invaluable. Hard working and full of knowledge and experience. And he's laid back and easy going. Some guys like that are high strung and bark out orders when they get into their element. Not him. Smooth and sure. All of you did well

    I am so proud of you guys, you are really getting it done. For two people to have the courage to take on a project of this magnitude with little to no experience and produce such a beautiful finish product is highly commendable, so don't let the detractors and naysayers get to you for one second. You are learning so mistakes are to be expected. I've been in building and construction for 37 years, so I know what you're going through and I'd say, you're doing an awesome job. I can't wait to see your next video.

    It's the apron. They probably underestimated it because of the last minute nature of the apron.
    B Kishan,
    No need to vibrate the slab. The simple act of people walking through, screeding, etc settles it.
    And Alyssa, it may FEEL like you didn't do a lot.
    You DID. You guys got an absolute *BLEEP!*ton of work done for such a small crew. Both individually, and on the whole. Don't stress over it. It's ALL learning, including how to accept help when it's available...

    Congrats, happy mudders! The problem with computing volume for concrete is that it's hard to get the bed perfectly flat. I was taught never to have any loose fill under the small slabs I was working if I didn't want it to crack, and now I see why ALL home foundations crack. Unperturbed soil is harder than compacted anything. You lucked out having the excellent concrete guys there for the pour, um, I mean placement of the concrete. All the little tips they've learned in the biz are second nature to them, and your slab benefits by every one of them. May it be flat and last forever! I can't wait to see the timberframing.

    Great job , it a lot of work building yr home and i think your doing a create job, and i know you getting a lot of comments and i am not trying to be mean or criticize but i hate to see when thing are not dune right , so i hope you take my advice and cut the apron the total depth of the slab, so it will be separated from you inside slab even with the re bar , and i see he tooled a joint but that wont help when the frost heaves yr apron so my advice is to cut right through the slab in the tooled joint total depth then caulk the joint with a joint sealer , thanks hope my advice help , again with all respects to all of you and the workers,

    I think you may regret not putting a thermal break in between the heated indoor portion of the slab and the apron. This will most likely lead to ice buildup near the edge, and a cold slab

    Why no thermal bridge at the front of the garage, lot of trouble in your future trying to heat the slab. Otherwise nice but that garage apron is a major no no for heating.

    • @markdaugherty6378
      @markdaugherty6378 7 лет назад

      Isolate that front apron from the main living slab(saw it off), not easy but it is the right thing to do. You want to dictate the interior temp, that apron will always draw in either heat or cold. You already have a expansion crack placed at the apron, just go down there and separate the rebar and concrete with something that will not transfer energy, almost anything is better than concrete and rebar. This is normal stuff do not let it get you down. Your building a house and these things happen you seem to have the tools to accomplish this along with the knowledge to understand the mistake.
