Eek! It didn't ask me to do that. I had very little on my iphone to begin with. They're still there, under "Purchased" as though it were a separate playlist. Funny.

Hi Daniel, I just moved from my old Mac running Mavericks to a new Mac running Catalina, so your video was helpful. Transferring via the Finder window and selecting the Albums tab only shows the Album name to select. If you have several albums with the same name (e.g. Greatest Hits), that isn’t very helpful! Is there a way to also get the Artist name to display in this tab?
I find the way I used to do it in iTunes still works in the Music app: your phone displays in the sidebar, and if you select the Albums tab under Library, you can just drag the picture of your selected Album onto your phone in the sidebar.

How do you transfer downloaded music files to finder so you can transfer them to iPhone?
Is it necessary to have a subscription to listen to those transferred music
Using Finder, when I click "music" the window that opens up says "my iPhone is using Cloud Music Library", not what you see. It must be a default setting?
Can you just copy and paste folders with music files from your computer to your iPhone drive when plugged into the computer? All I had to do with my Android was copy the "Classical" folder, for example, which had all my classical music files, then paste on the cell phone's drive. Then I used DoubleTwist to search the folder and all the music was there, organized according to how I organized the music file properties.

Awesome video! Worked perfectly. Not intantaneous for me - took a few minutes - but my phone & laptop are a little old. The key was showing the location of that teeny tiny iphone icon. Apples instructions suck hah.
Yes, but if the songs weren't downloaded with cover art they won't show up, so they can't be synced. I have older songs which i wasn't able to download with cover arts, like the newer songs. So all the songs that don't have cover art, did not show up whenever i clicked sync.

Dude completely skipped over the fact if you download from store/iTunes on iPhone you cant transfer unless you disable icloud sharing aka erasing any song you downloaded offline!

All the songs contained in my playlists do not copy onto my iPhone 12. Computer says I have 500 songs on a playlist, when I sync only 200 come over (for example).

Good video, but if you deselect the songs or playlist from your Computer they disappear from the playlist on the iPhone. What gives.Pre iTunes 12.-....kept your playlist after transfer.

Nope. I get a warning that says “Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, and books from this iPhone and sync with this library?” No I do not, because I already have music on my phone and some songs are on my desktop and I don’t want to lose them. When I check manually sink, everything else is grayed out.

When I click on the phone icon in itunes, a window opens that says Welcome to your new iphone and it askes me to backup or restore. I don't want to do either. I just want to download my itunes to my phone. If I cancel out the phone icon goes away. What do I do?

Hi Daniel, could you pls help me with the following: I have some music locally stored on my MacBook and I want to transfer them to my Library and then to my Ipod Nano (6th or 7th generation....). I used to drag and drop the songs but this doesn't work anymore. It's driving me crazy!! I have watched many tutorials (incl yours :-)) but none of them helped.
firstly, try opening "some music locally stored on my MacBook" with iTunes and press Autofill at the bottom of iTunes, as a kickstart and then do the whole thing as explained in video

Didn't do anything for me. Iphone connected and recognized, followed the prompts and nothing . . . I'm thinking that there are so many problems with iTunes that that must be the root issue here.
