So. We moved to Maine this past June and we are living in a large canvas tent with a wood stove through this winter. The storm was rough but God got us through it.
Nice to hear from you guys and hope you doing well after what was going on hope to hear and see you guys soon 😀 and see if there are any updates on the house 🏠 👍
I'm glad to see and hear from yall, and I'm very glad that the wind didn't throw any wrenches into yalls plans. ❤ I hope all goes smooth or as smooth as it can be. I'm so happy to see the driveway holding up. Take care, be safe, and good luck.
Hi, I'm happy everything is ok with you. I know it's not my business, but did you ever think about placing a mobile home in your land and then go from there?
Hello there! A mobile home was considered, but rejected for several reasons. Cost was a big reason--a new mobile home was out of our budget, and anything within our budget would likely have cost more to modify and make habitable long-term than we were willing to put into it. Ultimately, this cabin we are building will end up being Josiah's workshop after we build our "final" house, many years down the line. Second reason was the fact that...there are not that many mobile homes around here. Even though it's a lower income region, people opt to build smaller and sturdier than go the mobile home route. Building codes here recommend planning for 100lbs of snow per square foot, or going with a very steep pitch. Very very few mobile homes, if any, can handle that. Good question and thanks for watching!
@somethinggreenacres6433 Thanks for replying, I apologize I did not think about the snow. I'm from Puerto Rico and living in Florida for many years. Here is in their 60's and I'm freezing cold and when I see you guys struggling in that cold I feel worried. I admired the way you are handling your live there and I will still learning from you and I will follow you making that place "your home" a great homestead. ❤
