I live in the Asheville area (Woodfin) and read that the estimate of trees felled by the hurricane is 40% just in Buncombe county. I imagine its relative to all the areaas effected. Truly breaks my heart. We will never live long enough to see this land "healed", neither will our children. It is hard to accept this fact. Happy to be alive, but saddened by such great losses of life, land and livelihood for so many. Grateful for the community mind set here in these old mountains, for real. Love to all 💚
Gosh this hurts to see I have a picture of myself standing on that rock outcropping 2:56 to the right of that concrete tunnel from two summers ago. This is one of my favorite hikes in the southeast and it's painful to see how decimated it is.
@jasonmears4393 it's not, the AT runs really close to that area though. That particular trail is called Lost Cove trail and it's located in Yancey County, NC. You get to the start of it through Joe Lewis Fields.
@Offroadviking Thanks for responding... Does that trail offer good views? I've hiked about every trail in the southern appalachains, but I have never heard of this trail.
@jasonmears4393 yeah, the best view is at the beginning. There's a cliff you can walk out to and you can see the Nolichucky Gorge. Other than that not much to see on the trail itself until you get into Lost Cove
The algorithm ought to pick this video up. Simply awesome.
Thanks so much!
Watch this early this morning in bed but could remark. Lovely video and very relaxing. I always enjoy your videos!!
@@carriegarrisonvos4433 Thanks so much!!!

What is the name of the trail and location on that mountain top? Is that part of the A.T.?

Absolutely, it's called "Glad You Came" by Dalton Day. Downloaded it from Musicbed
