I watched Higashi no Eden 4 years ago and vaguely remembered this opening. Now this year I've been getting heavily into Oasis, and I cross paths with this song once again.

For anyone wondering why there are so many Japanese comments on this video, it's actually because this song was used as the opening song for the anime Eden of the East. When the anime was being brought over to the West, Funimation (now known as Crunchyroll) obtained the license to use the song, but only for the first episode. The remainder of the series used "Michael ka Belial", by Saori Hayami.

DOYS is my favourite of their 2000's albums, big fan of the aforementioned ones, but also 'The Shock Of The Lightning' and 'To Be Where There's Life'.
For me the best songs in the album are 'The Shock Of The Lightning', 'The Turning', 'Falling Down', 'I'm Outta Time' and 'To Be Where There's Life'.
The video depicts a woman (played by actress Natasha O'Keeffe), who is supposed to be part of the Royal Family who enjoys parties, one night stands and drugs. When she meets the band in the video, the members refuse to shake her hand because of the way she hides her party lifestyle[citation needed] . When the 'Princess' offers her hand to Noel Gallagher he declines to bow and turns away in disdain, which seems to be a reference to his and brother Liam's Irish background. I don't think that that's the case though. Noel had a union jack painted on his guitar in the 90s so probably it's not the Ireland vs England thing. The princess wants to be hip and rock n roll instead of being in the royal family and acting posh. This is the sort of working class is cool Britpop thing. Noel refuses to shake the princess' hand because he is a rockstar and doesn't want to be associated with the royal family.
I'd take it a bit further. The Irish not bowing to the royal family might be a nice twist but hardly the point. It is also really meaningless who exactly the girl is. What is important is what she represents. She is a lie. She drinks, does drugs, parties. Then the royal family dresses her up and tries to make her into a model example to be cheered and admired by the masses. I think maybe he despises what she represents as an individual but mostly he refuses to shake hands with a lie - something that does not really exist. That's his stand. He will not take part, it would mean his approval of sorts. The dream has died long ago and no one seems to notice. He says that's all he knows, all that he ever new really - that the world is never what it seems, and the girl represents his own disappointment with the world. This might be a kind of infantile oversimplification but I still like it better than Irish background or fear of being seen with the royal family.
I think Noel and Liam just tried to be cool( as always) in the video.

Morning Glory is my favorite Oasis song but Falling Down is their most mature and best song. They were still making great music in 2008 which makes the breakup so disappointing. They'll never recapture the magic even if they do reunite.

I got into Oasis because of the anime Higashi No Eden. Loved the song so much i had to see who Oasis was. Now Oasis is my favorite band, despite all their drama. I love their music so much, bought their albums. Cant believe they're touring again next year. Hopefully they come to the states!!!!
