    I really like these in depth looks at otherwise ignored items.

    I do not understand how this works if there is no bearing with the little metal balls that spin around, is it just set in there and the shaft is in contact with the center part and spin around with friction??? I don't get it

    Good video, as always. Off topic question, why is it when i look inside some furnaces where the t-stat wire connects to the control board, the t-stat wire is sometimes coiled/pig tailed right before the terminal block. It looks like someone wrapped the wire around a screwdriver or something round a bunch of times. Is this to create slack if needed for a new furnace in the future or am i way off base?

    It seized on the shaft and the winding's didn't burn out? that is a miracle because that happened to my blower motor and for some mysterious reason the thermal cut-out switch in the motor did not OPEN! It smoked the winding's

    Is it possible to convert my fan belt driven blower to a direct motor? Does the direct motor require a special blower. The reason I ask is that my bearings are wearing out and I don't want to deal with this in the future. Thanks Gary!

      Replace the bearings. Its too much hassle to replace the entire fan assembly. Try this video: ruclips.net/video/S3IzIe2VcMc/видео.html

    I took the bearings out of my old Delhi. They don't have a wick. Am I supposed to lube them once a year or something?

      If there is no oiler on the bearing, they are supposedly lifetime lubed. Would not hurt to oil them if you can.

      @@mutantbaby1672It's a bushing, not a bearing. No lube points. Replace every few years.

    Is it possible to switch from a belt driven blower to a direct drive block in my oil furnace?

      Its pretty tough. The blower wheel would have to be replaced with one with a 1/2 in hub and mounts would have to be made.

    Does the brass bushing spin with the rod, or the rod spins inside the brass bushing?

    • @grayfurnaceman
      @grayfurnaceman  4 года назад

      The shaft "rod" bears on the Bronze bushing. Brass is used for candelabras, not bearings. Just would like you to use the right terms.

      I’m confused on your answer. So does it spin inside the thing or do does it sound around the rubber?

    • @mickcarroll1274
      @mickcarroll1274 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@thomasnguyen3646no. It does not spin. It's a cheap design made to fail. Grease never gets to the shaft via the brass bushing, thus friction, wear, failure.
