Thanks for your nice tutorial. I bought a new Ear Speaker unit. I desoldered the speaker from the new flex cable and resoldered it to the one in my phone. My Face ID still works fine after it. Saved me a lot of money.
Will Face ID work after replacing? My moms XS max ear piece got water damaged and stopped the phone from booting on, I disconnected it and the phone works fine but if I replace it I think the Face ID will never work. UPDATE: I just put the war piece in warm rice and it began working again, don’t put it in hot rice, just warm.
I have found that resoldering the Ambient Light Sensor (the long rectangle piece with a white strip on top) when there is visible corrosion underneath solves this issue.

The flex cable on the iPhon X im doing for a client is damaged. Will it work normally if I just replace the entire assembly with a new one or will FaceID and the speaker not work?
Hey i was repair my iphone x battery when this broke off. i bought a new earpiece thing and the sensor part but i heard that apple pairs specific parts to the logic board so if i replace it will the mic still work?
I have iPhone X and the ear speaker not working. But I have one more iPhone X with cracked screen. Can I remove the ear speaker from the second iPhone and replace it to my iPhone? Is the Face ID will work after if it’s original Apple part?
man this was a great video!! Apple and Best Buy and 2 different repair shops said my iPhone was done with it hit the boot loop. It was of course a bad speaker. I used this video and bought the part on Amazon for $10.00. I'd never opened a phone before, but followed this video and now my iPhone X works. no Face ID - but who cares, with masks on it won't work anyway. awesome video!!!
Question, my ear speaker on iphone X is very low i changed it but even the new speaker was very low. What does that mean Is there something on the board that needs changing plz help
Omg i just can't do this. I've tried several videos and I just can't see it well enough to understand and I just keep getting so angry at myself for not being able to do something simple like changing a screen
Great guide. Out of interest, what's the function of the port cover inside the iPhone X? I guess it's just for protection but I know the 6 didn't have one. I'm running my iPhone X without one temporarily (just for a couple of days while I wait for a mail order replacement) which is probably a bad idea, but just how bad of an idea is it?
This is not a good repair guide with all due respect. You should remove the battery before anything else to avoid short circuit problems, and reapply an adhesive to avoid dust entry into the phone.
Hello, thank you for your video. I tried changing my iphone x's battery myself yesterday, and after I did, I realized that the screen was all black even tho I was receiving calls and texts (my phone is on). After hours of trying to find out what I had done wrong, I realized that because my phone's screen was cracked and damaged before, the ear speaker was stuck inside of the phone's body and it was not attached to the phone's screen and the flex cables of the ear speaker were damaged (the solder points were gone and the flex cable was not attached to the microphone anymore.) To explain it better, when you lift the screen to see inside of the phone, the screen that comes off, has a microphone attached to it on top, mine was not there and it was left inside of the phone above the battery But since that's the microphone and not the screen, I was wondering if that's the reason my screen is not showing up? and should I buy a new screen OR a new ear microphone OR only the flex cables? I would be so happy and thankful to receive your advice, thank you!
I'm a bit late on this comment but I'd like to give advice to others if faced with same problem. So you should have ordered the speaker ribbon cable and the screen from a seller with a good return policy. Replace the speaker, see if it fixes the issue, if not add the screen. If The screen was not needed, just get your return going. Hope this helps with other electronic troubleshooting scenarios.
If everything is reconnected correctly, everything should be as was after reassembly. If you experienced loss of true-tone and face id try to open the phone again and check all connections.
no you need to keep the same proximity sensor because the same proximity sensor is connected to the motherboard for face ID, the real issue here is taking apart ear speaker from proximity sensor without damaging it.
You just replaced the speaker and flex cable with the one you removed. It is a completely different ballgame if you want to replace the speaker and flex cable with a new one. You have to desolder and resolder part of the flex.
@@ricktennysonleddisplayssig6869 You guys are smart with the details of what will and won't work. Have a question, Had an iphone 6s where i replaced the screen and transferred over the original touch id, home button as I know you can't use a new one. I've done this many times, but this time the touch id won't work after put back together. It doesn't give any error at all. Just when you try to add new finger print, it acts like you don't have your finger on the home button... No errors. It just won't prompt you to scan your finger and can't get it to work. Any ideas?

what if my ear speaker is kind of muffled and i want to get it fixed? will i lose face id? i’ve tried cleaning it with a q tip and air in a can but it’s still muffled a bit.
Save Apple Dollars if you keep original screen and replace the whole flex cable including speaker ambient light sensor assembly. you lose face id only right? true tone and everything else is programmed into the screen? or what i’m confused

what about re-adhering the screen for continued water protection ?
what about water resist adhesives, after 6s you should add adhesive once you reassemble it

Is there something on the board that needs changing plz help
Same happened to me. I made holes the mesh part on the phone and it works very good now. But dust will start getting in there now. So I got a new mesh
Do you have one for the XS Max?
The iPhone keeps rebooting any help?
Why you not remove battery?
If i replace still have face id?
Face ID was still working after this repair?!
If the display is shattered can we replace the ear peice without recovering screen?
Not a good idea to unplug the face ID cable! You will lose Apple Face ID Functionality if you unplug the cable!!!
Does an ear speaker replacement get rid of Face ID?
No only if you change the front facing camera.
@@Mopar_illmatic really I was told otherwise by others. Thanks.
How much does it cost to fix it somewhere on shops

If the screens is still black you may’ve burned the backlight of your phone
"With nothing left out". You left out that auto-brightness and truetone disables, also a chance for no face-ID too?
