Ok, time to shut that ridiculous myth once and for all, no, NCR veteran rangers aren't one man armies or whatever you NCR fans think they are, they got their asses kicked on many occasions, and many of those were against raiders (Caesar's roman larpers are just yet another gang of raiders) and Mexican cowboys, there are no actual recorded combat that involved ranger vets and BoS whatsoever in lore, and no, the vets weren't there at Helios one. Now, do ranger vets have an actual edge against a BoS paladin ? Yes, but only if he has a loaded and functional anti-material rifle, then he'll, indeed, be able to ambush said BoS and end him with a 50cal bullet in the right spot of the power armor (which may be a T-51, which means that you don't pierce It quite easily, no there is no convenient weak spot like the show's T-60) Now, if the ranger misses or get spotted, he'll flee, cause there's no point in trying to take on a guy in power armor in close combat, you'll get crushed, period. Now, the ranger vets are a BIG part in NCR propaganda, when soldiers hear that they'll get ranger reinfocements, their morale is incredibly boosted and they're less likely to flee or surrender, so when they do get their asses handed to them, you won't hear about It. Now, did fights happened between veteran rangers and BoS paladins ? Probably, especially when you know that the BoS did retalliate pretty hard in NCR territory (And actually destroyed the gold reserves, like mentioned above, which resulted in a very real and absolutely catastrophic economic crash in the NCR, that's why NCR money is worth less than caps in New Vegas) So, yeah, maybe the ranger vets ultimate badassery wasn't so relevant after all, and maybe some of them even got their asses kicked pretty hard by some rogue angry paladins... Or even knights.
