  • Does this Beetle Percussion Carlos Botello signature practice pad solve the rim shot problem that the plastic rimmed drum pads suffer from? Is this thing a better chop out solution than the Zildjian Reflexx pad?

    I love this pad! I've had it since October 2022, and it's been fantastic. The rubber rim gives a nice feel for shots, although I've noticed some small bits falling out occasionally. Comparing it to my friend's pad, I can tell that different batches have some quality differences. One downside is that it's too small for my marching snare, and it slides around. But I found a solution by stacking the pad on top of my trusty old RealFeel, and it stays in place now. The velcromat material has held up well despite my accidental drops and scuffs. What makes this pad even more special is that it's not just any ordinary product. It's a work of art by a guy in a garage who believes in eco-friendly choices, which is a big plus for me. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with this pad!

    • @paddric_ryan
      @paddric_ryan  Год назад +1

      I got mine in December of 22, and it seems to be holding up okay. Although, I am babying it lol! I think if I were still young and marching drum corps, I'd probably get the Tony Teleky bus pad for tour just so I could preserve the rim on the Carlos pad.

      Hi! Being hand made they certainly aren’t consistent as much as I try. Also the materials - especially the tire rubber is not consistent at all! We have sent many back because they are crumbly (is that a word) and weak… If yours if crumbling apart bad I’m happy to replace if it’s not holding up. I know it’s not cheap! Lol. Thanks for the kind words though and let us know if we can help!! 🙏🏻♻️ Thanks for your support!!

      Good ear! Yeah, it breaks my heart how little there is of us. I have a few audio recordings from random folks who had mini disc recorders in the lot. In fact, out of the few videos of us from that year, the best ones are from when the Vic Forth team came out. They're relatively short clips, but the audio quality is really good. Fun fact: Phantom Regiment still had a year left on a contract with Vic Forth, so we struck a deal to use their stuff in the battery and IP in the pit. It was weird using Hardimons 🤣

To be clear, I only requested that they try and grab the highest pitched pairs (I ordered two pairs). In my experience, IP does a good job at matching sticks, you just have to sometimes hunt for ones that are high pitched. I expected each pair to match themselves, but what I didn't expect was that the pairs would match each other. Lol, so now I have four sticks that are all the same high pitch, which is great!
