I live in Reno so I prefer to just go camping out on the playa myself with all my equipment, party supplies, and friends and just dance and hang out and get crazy for a couple nights. Way better and you get the playa experience, especially at night under a fool moon I might add. Absolutely amazing time. Screw burning man it’s bunch of wannabe, corporate, sellout losers.
The problem with all of these hippy/80s festivals is that they where once about an idea and now they are about a money/being there. It kills them. Simply said the kind of people who started burning man cant afford to go their anymore. Look at ur average college student for example. At the same time interestingly from my point of view the idea remains only now in new festivals still adhering to it.

It's just like anything else ~ Do you drink/smoke? Are you religious? Do you believe in a person's individuality and respective path in life? If not, why spend the energy projecting your own (minimalistic) scope of the reality of things? Well said. 2024 was my 1st burn. My RV rental fell thru 4 days before I was supposed to leave but somehow I was able to find one. It took 25 hrs to reach camp. I went with my bf who i started dating 4 months ago. We camped with ppl we've never met. My bike chain fell off the 1st day i rode it. The rv generator went out every day. 2 nights, I lost my crew, 1 night my bike pedal fell off while in deep playa at 5am meaning i had to walk back to camp but my gahhd what a blessing it was because I was able to take in the beautiful sunrise. Getting home took over 30 hrs because the rv broke down which meant waiting on the side of the freeway for 6 hrs. After all that, my friends and I were still on cloud 9. Would I do it again? Absolutely 💯! When you go with the right mind set, it's a magical experience no amount of money can buy. Those strangers we camped with are now family and the bond between my bf and I is so much stronger. Best of all, I discovered things about myself that gave me deeper appreciation. BM is a beautiful experience if you allow it.
We made Burningman like another planet 25 years ago. It was a splendid weirder than weirdly wonderful experience. And like all rad things…people slowly catch on and storm the splendor…and the patina wanes…tho many of us old burners still work on sustaining it~~~

I make 6 figures a year and i really can't see myself paying 1500 just to get in. Not to mention the supplies i would have to purchase. And then you have to actually get there if you don't live nearby. I would put this at at least a 4k trip. So... As much as id love to go to Burning Man i really don't see that happening any time soon. Realistically I'm probably going to use 4k to travel internationally. It's crazy to me that they've raised the price this much. And that this many people can afford it. I guess if you really want something you just make it happen.
The ticket sales go to many of the projects, food, rentals, like any gathering. It's 8 days long, over 2400 DJ's, 600+ theme camps to visit, non stop till it's over. So ticket prices are actually comparable compared to a 4 hour concert in Vegas. Plus you get to be yourself without hassle, )'(
Plus this event is 7 days long. Compare the ticket price to any other multi day event (usually 3 days) like edc which is about 439 plus price for hotel and food and transportation. Once you get to burning man, there’s no exchange of money (besides ice).

There is a process to apply for a permit with BLM for hosting a large event on public lands. Ticket sales offset the costs incurred by the hosting organization. If you go on BLM's site, you can see what the requirements are for hosting an event.

The total cost to attend runs about $2,000 per person for 5-6 days. I did it in 2016 and had a blast, but once was enough 👍
