When Mattel isn't deleting creator's social media, they're reducing the quality on their premium collector's line! Jokes aside, what are y'all's thoughts on this one?
I was about to mention the Hammond Collection. I picked up the Baryonyx. It looked terrible on the box art but taking it out, was not as much as an eye sore. I am not a big time collector, but I like how it looks.
Issues I had with mine: - right shoulder was immovably stiff - left shoulder was loose to the point that I could move it by *blowing on it* - tail was pre-broken - lower jaw is misaligned, meaning I can't close the mouth all the way - *upper* jaw is misaligned, meaning I can't *open* the mouth all the way - stand-port is slightly too large, so it can't use the stand - rubber on the tail was glued on wrong, so it keeps getting snagged on the plastic ball joint So, yeah. Not Mattel's finest hour... EDIT: I went over and picked mine up just now, and I had literally forgotten that, for some reason, the ball joint at the base of the neck is stuck in such a way that it can't bend to the right.
Well, this is the last time that I’m collecting the Mattel Jurassic World figures because of what happened to Collect Jurassic and Andy’s dinosaur reviews
Good thing he said ALMOST every figure has quality control issues, mine was perfect! (Oddly enough, it seems ONLY mine was perfect though, based on these comments.)
The figure I received had two lower left arms (between the wrist and elbo was the exact same piece- it’s not supposed to be). After providing pictures, Target sent a replacement figure free asap. Though with the Hammond Collection coming, I doubt there will be a female version made to complete this previous set.
@@user-H_m true. But even better, Nanmu studio has both, male and female raptors, that look /just like the movie/ raptors and far more poseable than both Amber and Hammond Collection lines 😍🦖. They’re even working on a super poseable JW Carnotaurus now.
Ah man this review was great, and so funny, lol! Despite wanting this one, I guess I don't really need it (and that poor QC really doesn't help), especially with the Hammond Collection a thing now, assuming we finally get a proper 3.75 scale JPIII raptor after waiting and wanting one since the 2018 Legacy one was canceled. Quality control was so poor for this line. Right from the get go the original raptor (and later releases) suffered from a jaw that wouldn't close fully on the one side. One of my raptors (TLW one that I thankfully picked up 50% off) suffers from a glued in sickle claw joint. Marco Makes has a video where like all the raptors had issues, or just about. Obviously the lack of accuracy (including the packaging for Delta and Echo using the wrong pics, dirty Hammond, TLW raptor's head paint, Jay Leno jawed compies, etc), for the line was another big issue. Victoria's Cantina also had a really good video showing all the issues the line suffered from too. It's why I'm going into the Hammond Collection (at least it scales with the mainline), with caution. Right off the bat the Parasaurolophus has too wide of a head, and though stated to be TLW version, is really based of the JW one, in coloration, and probably sculpt too. Baryonyx seems to be okay though. Also the JP raptor (which was in the Beyond the Gates video preview) totally seems to be a smaller version of the AC raptor (complete with JW head sculpt? and huge feet), which is uh, not the most exciting, but well at least we got plenty of decent raptors in that scale already. Coloration is not all that accurate either. I feel like either last year's SDCC one or the 2020 Legacy pair was better in that regard really.
Thanks so much bud! Appreciate you watching! Yeah the Amber line really took a substantial dip. It peaked at the Dilophosaurus, which is still my favorite of the line. The raptors are fun but are riddled with issues and inaccuracies.
I'm actually glad the amber collection died. It had to be one of, if not THE most overrated lines in the Jurassic park toy history. I think people just liked the idea of 6/7 inch Jurassic, but the execution just wasn't there. They still felt cheap-ish for a collectors line, the quality control was soooooo bad, and Mattel was cutting too many corners especially with their raptors. Every raptor save for the JP3 male was just a lazy repaint of the template mold they made for Blue. So the JP1 and TLW raptors were just Blue painted brown and orange. Ugh..it just killed the credibility. And the character lineup was also left incomplete rendering that portion of line kinda half baked if not useless.
@@The_PokeSaurus Honestly, it really wasn't that great. I have a few amber figures left, but having the whole line was a waste imo. Hasbro's post-JP3 toys had better sculpts, plastic quality and paint jobs than Mattel's amber collection did. I'm not even lying. Those might have not had the articulation the AC had, but they had thick durable plastic. AC figures have this soft, cheap rubbery kinda gummy plastic that isn't really compatible with a collector based line.
It's Mattel, wotcha gunna do? I have just secured my Alan Grant figure (trying to get the Amber Collection here in the U.K. is like trying to source hen's teeth), have already got the Hammond, Nedry and Muldoon figures and... that's it, I think. I just can't be arsed to spend the time and money to complete the human figures, let alone the dinos. I felt sort of obliged to buy the figures 'cos I don't think we'll get figures from the original trilogy in this or any other scale again, but...no. Just no. I didn't expect digital printing on these figures, but maybe digital sculpting, or at least *decent* sculpting. After losing the DC licence, this was a golden opportunity for Mattel to really show what they were capable of with what *ought* to have been a prestige line for a prestige and well - loved franchise. And indeed Mattel *did* show us what they're capable of; they half - arsed it, AGAIN. I haven't been this disappointed in a squandered opportunity for an action figure line since Funko's Legacy range.
I have had several problems with my amber figures the tip of the JP raptor’s tail fell off , the silo’s jaw is crooked ,and Charlie’s left are fell off when I opened it ,blue doesn’t have any problems but both the dilo and Charlie tail wires broke
@@prufan That's true, however because they're smaller they've become much more affordable, the raptors used to be 20 dollars and have been decreased by half, everything is at an average price of the normal stuff
@@prufan No, it's an upgrade actually. The Amber collection was doomed from the start because of its scale, they were already limited to what they could do before things got too big and too expensive. The Hammond collection keeps things in scale with the main line and allows them to do the larger dinosaurs in a scale that isn't obnoxious and hogs up shelf space. Plus it doesn't put as much of a dent in your wallet.
@@bretbuckley704 this is all true, I couldn't imagine there ever being an amber collection T Rex or Indominus, and I seriously can't wait for a Hammond Collection Spino or Indominus
Do a nanmu blood knight side by side with this figure so Mattel learns what "high quality" premium line of figures for "adult collectors" actually means
Will Mattel creat e an actual premium line? I want to get these but I can't. Hasbro's Studio Series and Hiya's Alien figures are far more accurate and premium.
OK yeah all I have to say is I never expected to have either of the Lost World and JP3 raptor but I have both. The lost world one has 1 claw glued in place and the jaw is crooked but otherwise it is great. And surprisingly the JP3 one has NO defects AT ALL (surprising based on how much Mattel likes to mess them up) and it looks great... What? First of all why do I have both of the raptors and second, why is my quality control so great(especially for my JP3 one)?
I’ve never bought any of these but they seem more like toys for older kids or a retail collector focused but still kid accessible line ala Marvel Legends or Transformers Generations rather than 100% collector oriented like say SH Monsterarts. Then again I’m assuming these aren’t 200 bucks a pop so it’s a give and take I suppose
Price point isn't an excuse for this much atrocious QC. These are still $30 dollar raptors at the end of the day...I at least expect the figure to operate as it's supposed to. I'm getting tired of people making excuses for Mattel's god awful quality control because "it's not x company".
I do like the AC figures but I find they break too easily. My friend’s Charlie’s upper jaw broke off and one of the lower arms came off. My Delta’s tail is starting to split in some places (the rubber is weakening) though I don’t really pose the figure or play with it either. The right arm is really stiff and I’m afraid of breaking it if I try to move it. One of the feet is the same as well. The jaw also doesn’t close all the way.
@@TheSpinoDude just got a second one. This one seems custom made as it was made to look like it’s snarling. Added bonus. Could come in hand with some scenes.
