i get what you are saying, but thats the brilliance of Tims work. He doesnt just make a song about a point he believes in, but you can see it and hear it when he performs. This is just someone "singing words" and doesnt even make you think about what she is singing about.
I think you assume too much. This would be a very odd choice of a song to cover if she didn't care or have passion about the subject. Tim is just viscerally emotive on a level that is very hard to compare to.
I'm assuming, but it is the feeling I get from it. I 100% agree she must have strong feelings and a passion about this subject to even sing this, I just don't think her portrayal of it was a strong one and for such a serious topic and a serious theme, 'masked' by Tim's "funny" song, I just don't think she really pulls it off to anywhere near the effect of how Tim does
I feel the exact same! The point of this song was never the tune and melody and enjoyment, it was always and still is a protest song and a comic musician just happened to be the one who wrote it in a medium he felt he could express himself through, which was in a song. As someone who has followed the massive eruption of child abuse offences in the U.S., at the hands of Catholic clergy, I applaud Tim Minchin's efforts to raise awareness and benefit survivors. And I really enjoyed Kate Miller-Heidke's cover. The priest who married my wife and I was removed from the ministry twenty years after the Archbishop of the diocese knew he was sexually abusing boys. The Archbishop, now deceased, chose to keep knowledge of the abuse from parishioners as well as other members of the clergy. And while this is egregious, it is but one of hundreds if not thousands of incidents that occurred across this country.
there is no "massive eruption" of Child offences in the US by catholic clergy. Over decades it amounts to less than 1% which is less than in many other professions .. Minchin and others have served to persecute an innocent man and put back the cause of child protection

Her dedication to causes and her confidence in voicing her opinions on political issues. Her stunning fashion and sense of style, which is so incredibly inspiring on a personal level. It's about how he spent decades covering up abuse within the church by convicted sex offender Gerald Ridsdale, who he used to live with. He tried to bribe Gerald's nephew not to go to the police. This performance was done in April 2017, he was charged himself in June 2017.

It's not the audio guy's fault. This girl obviously has a pretty weak voice that naturally doesn't project well. She's also singing much higher. With all respect to the performers, this song does not blend at all with her style.

But the church is responsible for brainwashing children and using fear to control them. Basically the bible was created in a time to explain things that could not be explained at that time. It's not the audio guy's fault. This girl obviously has a pretty weak voice that naturally doesn't project well. She's also singing much higher. With all respect to the performers, this song does not blend at all with her style.
Will Pantaleo it's the audio guy's fault. He could've turned the backing vocals down in the mix but he didn't. Kate is an opera singer and has better control of her projection than most singers so it's far from weak.

But the church is responsible for brainwashing children and using fear to control them. Basically the bible was created in a time to explain things that could not be explained at that time. And to control large populations through fear to keep law and order without using soldiers/police. The concept has served it's purpose but is now outdated.
