I'm British and I'd love to say buy British but Landrovers are crap man. Buy American. Not German (rust and electrics) Not Japanese (rust) but American. Had over 40 cars of various makes and thats my conclusion. Make if it as you will.

When you ask for the “Tow Package” with a Rover you don’t realize they mean that it will get towed everywhere it has to go.
I thought the tow package was a lifetime subscription to AAA :)

Yeah, not only last longer but look's better aswell, I'm sure i saw somewhere one of the concept's actually looked more like that & that's why people were getting excited, but what turned out was the cotton wool version.
I just set my LEGO defender up and it already has a check engine light and leaking coolant

@@ohhhtag The 6 cylinder shares the same architecture as the 4 cylinder tho. Same engine design with 2 more cylinders and a MHEV system connected to engine.
TFL's review of the Defender is actually the most accurate representation of Land Rover ownership. Most people that own a LR product own multiple vehicles, that way, when the LR goes to the dealership, they have something else to drive.
The way more equipped Defender is somehow much less interesting than the base one

Agreed, they should have paid full price or their much vaunted independence goes out the door. But, unlike many other youtubers, they did disclose the details of the deal. Either way, that heap of British junk won’t make it to 1,000 miles without breaking down. The suspension warning light is a sign of things to come.

The most important thing I have learned from your videos is that if you are going to buy a Rover product you better have a big time RUclips channel so you can get upgraded after everything breaks.

It already threw a quick suspension code glitch while sitting still. I know there's growing pains but YIKES! That was a prelude of things to come.

@@josephndazi5863 idunno ive driven off road in a working one of these that was an x and let me tell you that terrain response mode system... I dont understand how it defys logic...we climbed over some small boulders and went up nearly 40 percent grades in wet rain thick deep mud... it just went up it...

Disappointed, no diff locker, no winch, you compromised for a "Chelsea Tractor" as we say in the UK.
AKA a Toorak tractor
So they went from a base 4 cylinder with steelies (that I was actually interested in), to this $71K luxury 6 cylinder that isn't an offroad vehicle, and Land Rover basically bribed them with $16K. So now there is no one on youtube or the media that can show the 4 cylinder and all we know is that the 4 cylinder had a check engine light at less than 200 miles and was shit right out of the factory.
The only one I could possibly afford is the base 90, 4 banger with no added toys, so was watching with interest, :-/
JLR Saw the video views and slipped them an upgrade to quieten them down!
Really want 2 see a 4pot 110, in action as I need the space even if I can't afford it! 🤔

I installed a winch and Aussie bull bar on my 2020 Defender - works flawlessly, no issues.
The real defender stopped in 2016,even then the tdci engine was self distructing!lol Better off with a kia.

There is no comparison - anyone who knows anything about cars knows to buy the Toyota and to leave the Land Rover well alone!

If you want to go 4x4 buy a land rover but if you want to comeback buy a land cruiser.
I am anti lease. That would be a vehicle you would lease. I can’t imagine the repair bills after the warranty expires.
I am pro-lease since I like vehicles with warranty's and get bored with vehicles. I would never lease a Land Rover. Who wants to make any sort of payments on a vehicle that spends a good chunk of its time in the shop? I mean, Jag's are pretty but the same deal. I'd never lease one. Maybe a rental for a weekend where I had no pressing timeline and can wait for a tow. :)
I lease my daily driver (currently a Civic Sport hatch with a 6M) and own my weekend truck (currently a 2004 Honda Pilot). There is room in the world for both.
After the warranty/lease period the only buyers will be clowns in a circus looking for a new ride for their act.
I predict the Lego Defender will drive more trouble free miles than the blue Pretender will.
The Lego's are to keep them busy while their waiting for Matt's Towing to fish them out of the mall parking lot.
To be honest, by this point, I've kinda lost interest. Already proved that it's not a vehicle you could rely on off road, it's just another lifestyle SUV.

I really wanted one of these, but I came to my senses and remembered that I swore I’d never buy another Land Rover. I bought a LC Heritage Edition instead. Not as many screens, but everything works, and will continue to work.

Some expensive vehicles with air suspension will lower down when the door is open to ease ingress/egress. If this has that I'm wondering if it got confused because the passenger door was open.
If you play with the air suspension to much with out the engine running you will get this message. Its just air tank needing to be filled.

Except it wasn't a Check Engine light. No indication what the suspension message was caused by. On one of my cars, if I try to drive it over 31mph with the front lift engaged, I get a suspension error message too. smh

Had a Defender 90" Td5 from new, 100% reliable from new, rust on the frame wasthe main reason for selling it, hope the new Defender 90" Commercial is better!

I think it’s safe to say that anyone who doesn’t have a popular RUclips channel should NOT buy a defender.

Old for Lexus: 12 years
The old ones ARE better, mines 26 years old and been to Africa, and back to the UK at least 3 times, as well as Morocco,Spain Italy, and it's still my daily driver
TDi 300, won't be changing for a new one, as soon as they heard me say Africa, they DECLINED to sell me one, so if JLR doesn't have any faith in it, I REALLY can't justify having the new one, think it'll be another engine and 'box if a few years to keep it on the road, cos there still is NO VIABLE REPLACEMENT, unless I want to drive a toyota

Land Rover/Range Rover has only one reliable feature is "check engine" light.
This model has a digital check engine light. Probably to make it unreliable

Geoff Haylock I believe the 6 cylinder does not have the smaller steel wheel option because they don’t fit over the larger brakes. So they get the larger alloys only. Not great if you can’t have clearance for some more rubber

Absolutely No Way a Normal Land Rover buyer gets that kind of treatment...we would maybe get the lego defender to play with while our real one was in the shop for months.

Appreciate the full disclosure and transparency of your experience. I'm glad LR & the dealer are doing the right thing for you. Though I'm holding back on ordering (if at all) for now. Maybe after they've been building it for over a year, they would have ironed out all the bugs. I'll take a look at it again then - unless I've gotten something else by then - like the new Ford Bronco. Please Ford Australia, sell the new Bronco here.
If Land Rover treated every consumer with a warranty issue in this manner, they’d be out of business. I think we all know what the company was thinking.

Rover dogs are like Tuner Cars, never drive more than 15 miles from home. True anecdote: A Rover owning friend and I planned a trip in two vehicles through several States. Part of his trip planning was mapping out Rover dealers along the way. Too funny. BTW he had to visit one. 😂

You can tell how smooth it drives by how much the camera *DOESN'T* move when it's pointed to the back of the vehicle, filming Dad back in the 3rd row. And so quiet! You can hardly hear it when it's driving!
They might not be the most reliable vehicles, but I can definitely see why folks buy them -- *so* quiet and smooth, while still being capable of handling rough terrain.
