      Sorry to disappoint. I’ve watch a lot of other Printful unboxings that didn’t cover much about the service itself and rather than just repeating what others have done I wanted to talk about the service, how it works, how it’s different from other direct to garment printing options, and how artists can use the service to market their own designs. I apologize if that wasn’t what you were looking for.

      I think the poster came here like myself, expecting "Printful Review and Unboxing" and wanted to see the printed product and your impressions. Perhaps "Printful Overview, Samples and Review" would set expectations better. Thank you for the video; while I've investigated Printful heavily, it was great to see printed samples, something one doesn't see often.

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад +7

      Donovan Long Thanks Donovan. I think the issue is that everyone's expectations are different. I'm honestly not trying to be click-baity or to lead anyone on. I just stated that this was an unboxing and a review and I believe I did that. Maybe not in the way that everyone prefers, but I'm trying to do something different on my channel and I admit it's not for everyone.

      This is glorious, I have been researching "online t shirts store" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Diyaaroih Shirtify Explosion - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.

      Thank you so much. I will be looking into Amazon Merch. Printful just partnered with Etsy. It used to be that to connect your Etsy shop to Printful you needed to go through Ship Station and had to wait until an order came in and set each item and variant separately, it was a huge hassle. Now it relatively easy. I would definitely recommend connecting Printful to your Etsy Shop.

    Hey Scott, thanks for the video. I ordered some shirts from Printful almost a year ago and was very displeased, but I think I'm ready to give it another try. Have you run into any issues with returns based on wrong shirt sizes? This is also a concern for me. Thanks!

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад

      Sometimes it takes time for these companies to find their footing. Printful seems to be on top of things as far as improving their service. They are always rolling out new features. The recently opened an office in the UK which should help bring down some of the cost with international shipping and they just integrated with Etsy.
      As far as returns for the wrong size: Do you mean Printful shipped the wrong size or that a manufacturer's shirts may run too large or small an the customer wants a exchange? In any case I haven't had that happen yet, but I anticipate it will probably happen. It's a concern, but I will have to deal with that on an individual basis when it happens and if necessary adjust my return policy.

    Have you tried printing any designs with blues and turquoise in them with Printful? I'm having trouble getting blues to come out nice and vibrant - they always come out navy/dark! Trying to get that deep 100% RGB blue (0,0,255).

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад

      Interesting, I'll have to look into that. I have designs with blue and turquoise, but I haven't printed sample of those designs. Thanks for the heads up. let me know if you have any luck and I'll do the same.

      Well I haven’t sold a ton. But I would put the blame more on my lack of a good marketing strategy rather than Printful. I’m currently looking into other avenues for my T-shirt designs. Like the merch shelf on RUclips and Amazon Merch.

    Just one question...did you vectorize your images? Thanks so much again! - Joy

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад +2

      It's funny I've heard on other videos that you need to vectorize your art for Printful and that just isn't true. In fact a lot of my designs are vector based but I end up converting them to a non vector format (PNG) before uploading them to Printful.
      One thing you will need to do if you're scanning your kids artwork is to remove any unwanted background. The background needs to be transparent. PNG files support transparency. Unless the look you want is to have a white rectangular background (or whatever color the paper is) as part of your design.

    Ah man, some day I want to be as on top of my online store as you are. I'm so indecisive. I started with a threadless artist shop and then moved to DBH. I like the DBH interface (because it is leaps and bounds better than threadless) and now printful sounds great... my main problem is that each one just takes so much time. I need to set aside time every so often to do up my store/products correctly...

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад +2

      I have shirts on Red Bubble, Teepublic, DBH, TeeFury etc. because they have built in marketplaces, but if your driving your own traffic would recommend Storenvy connected to Printful. It may take time to set up but you will get better returns and have your own branding. I'll be doing a video with tips on how to have a top notch online store.

    • @corykerr

      Serkworks Art Labs I'm still in the "audience building & needs more products" stage of things. I'll have to look into tee public and tee fury. I wish I could justify an assistant or intern so I could keep making while they list and sell (I know it's all part of the gig though)

  • @CallyLawson

    Hi, I have just started with printful last week. I was wondering if you knew where I could find a size guide for the t-shirts. On Redbubble they have measurements , I am concerned that no size guide will put people off buying!

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Cally. To my knowledge I don't think Printful offers a size guide. The problem is that Printful offers a variety of T-shirt manufacturers to choose from where Redbubble usually sticks to one. So it's harder and more confusing for Printful to offer a size guide. Printful does offer a pretty good discount on test shirts. Once you decide on which style to go with you can usually go to that manufactures site and find a size guide you can use. I'm using Bella Canvas Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve Tee and I found the size guide for that particular style here: www.bellacanvas.com/product/3001/Unisex-Jersey-Short-Sleeve-Tee.html

    • @CallyLawson
      @CallyLawson 7 лет назад

      Thanks, that is really helpful, I hadn't thought of looking at the manufactures websites. I wanted to be as helpful as possible to customers, as a lot are in the UK and our sizes differ to those in the US. Many thanks :)

    If you sell from Storenvy , say for example your personal prints, does it show your return address? Or do you have to set up a P.O.Box?

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  6 лет назад

      With Storenvy you ship your own products, unless your going through a drop shipping company like Printful, Printful does give you the option to upload a label with your own branding and address, but if you don't want to do that you can just use Printful's return address.

    • @ScottSerkland

      Daphne La Rondelle It depends on the design. I use mostly Illustrator for graphic design and for finished lineart. Sometimes I will add color using Photoshop. Typically l began with a hand drawn sketch.

      Hey Leo, the feel of the ink on the black tees is a little thicker than on white. but It still has a nice feel and not supper thick. I've noticed over time that the artwork printed on black lasts a lot longer than on the white which tends to fade after a number of washes.

    How do you get your store logo or design on the shipping label?? I just uploaded 2 designs on etsy. just wondering because I didnt see a option for that

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  6 лет назад

      I don't think Etsy offers that service on their labels. (not sure if that's where you were looking) but Printfull gives you the ability to upload your logo. Under your name in the upper right hand corner of the Printful site (after you have logged in) click on "settings" in the drop down box, on the left hand side under "stores" click on "packing slip" that's where you can upload your logo.

    Can't you pick some designs or do you
    Have to to be an artist???? Please let me
    Know

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  7 лет назад +1

      I don’t believe that Printful offers a way to pick designs or generate your own designs from preexisting artwork, fonts etc., however you don’t have to be an artist to sell on Printful. As long as you have a design in a transparent PNG format you can upload it to Printful for use on their products. Your design can be created from whatever means you usually get your designs from. Wether that is clip art from a site like shutterstock.com, customizable design goods from creativemarket.com, canva.com etc. My You Tube audience are mostly artist so I tend to keep things geared towards them, but this video is finding a larger audience and I should make it clear that you don’t have to create the artwork yourself as long as you have art from somewhere you can have Prihtful print it.

      Hey there, Catherine!
      We recently introduced a text tool to our mockup and print file generator - so you can create text-based prints from scratch. And we're also working on a clipart function. Have a try: www.printful.com/mockup-generator
      Also, we offer design services. You can get in touch with our in-house design team with your idea of a design and they'll draw it up for you. You can read more here: www.printful.com/services/design
